CHAPTER 517: 496: HIDDEN AND SEEN (CHAPTER 1)

Ye Ling confirmed with Wu Mengyi and nodded, "Yes, I know."

Wu Mengyi looked at her incredulously, as if saying how could she be so heartless, seeing her own mother jump off a building and not caring.

"Precisely because she’s my mom, I can’t manage her. Mothers manage daughters, you never hear of daughters managing their moms. If she wants to jump, she must have her reasons, just let her be." Ye Ling laughed, "You all don’t have to worry, she’s reluctant to die. She’s just putting on a show for certain people, the more you try to stop her, the more she’s into it. If you truly ignore her, she’ll calm down. Just pass this message along to those holding her back, Aunt Wu."

Wu Mengyi, whom Ye Ling had previously thought cold-hearted, now slowly seemed reasonable, not heartless but overly knowing of her mother. She’s calmed down now, and when you think about it, isn’t that the truth?

"Alright, I’ll go now." Wu Mengyi walked outside, aware that if anything happens, she could relay these words, minimizing her own culpability.

Once Wu Mengyi had left, Liu Nan expressed some concern, "Are you sure this will work?"

"It’s fine, don’t worry about it, she doesn’t want to die." Ye Ling laid back on the bed. "You’ve seen yourself, I haven’t had a peaceful day; there’s always some drama coming up."

"Don’t take it to heart. Your mother-in-law treats you like her own daughter, and that’s enough. You’ll be spending your life with your in-laws, which is much better than being a daughter-in-law who has to appease her mother-in-law." Liu Nan wasn’t sure how to console her, especially since her parents were good to her, and she hadn’t faced such issues.

Not long after, Ye Zhenfen and Shen Bin returned; Ye Zhenfen had a forced smile on her face, clearly to prevent Ye Ling from worrying.

"Mom, did my mom go back?"

"You already knew?" Ye Zhenfen had intended to pretend ignorance to prevent her daughter-in-law from worrying. She then sighed, "The commotion at the hospital was so huge; there’s no way you wouldn’t know. Yes, she went back home with Ye Qian after Ye Qian’s mother-in-law told everyone to leave her be and ignore her, at which point she quieted down."

Ye Zhenfen was slightly embarrassed, "I tried to keep her from bothering you, and she was too heated. That’s why it got this big."

Ye Ling felt even more embarrassed, "Mom, you’ve been worried because of me."

Having a biological mom causing chaos was shameful enough, but dragging the in-laws into gossip was the guilt weighing on Ye Ling’s heart.

"Mom, it’s almost lunchtime, why don’t you take Liu Nan to eat? I’ll stay here with Ye Ling." Shen Bin interjected to break the awkward silence between the two.

"Alright, I’ll take Liu Nan for lunch." Ye Zhenfen realized it was time to let the couple be alone, so she called Liu Nan and went out.

Liu Nan winked at Ye Qian and left.

In the ward, only the couple remained. Shen Bin pulled a chair next to the bed and sat down, "How do you plan to handle the situation over there?"

Ye Ling raised an eyebrow, "You didn’t plan on handling it yourself?"

"In the future, I’ll make the small decisions, but I want you to call the shots for the major ones." Shen Bin leaned forward, and Ye Ling didn’t know what he was up to but saw him sniffing, "You smell like milk, just like Little Fatty."

Ye Ling was taken aback for a moment before her face couldn’t help but redden, "Sit properly and speak properly; stop talking nonsense."

Internally annoyed, she felt that mischievous streak in her man resurging, always trying to take advantage of her in subtle ways, despite his seeming reliability.

Shen Bin’s expression was serious, but there was a playful gleam in his eyes, "I wasn’t planning on doing anything."

"Don’t worry about my mom, she’s like that. If we all ignore her, she won’t stir up any trouble, realizing it achieves nothing," Ye Ling changed the topic, blushing. "Weren’t you out drinking with them? Why did you come back?"

"I forgot." Shen Bin smacked his forehead, "They asked me to buy liquor, but I heard the commotion at the hospital, so I came to check."

"Buy liquor?" Ye Ling was puzzled, "Doesn’t the restaurant have alcohol?"

"They said the alcohol there was weak." Shen Bin stood up before sitting back down, "I should stay with you first; I’ll leave when Mom and Liu Nan return."

Ye Ling thought of those clamoring for alcohol and laughed, "I’m getting discharged tomorrow. I can do everything myself now, but Mom insists I rest. Just go, they’ve come to see me, and we can’t ignore them."

After thinking for a moment, Shen Bin stood up, "Alright, I’ll get a nurse to accompany you first."

Knowing this was his final compromise, Ye Ling didn’t refuse.

Only a few minutes after Shen Bin left, a young nurse came in. This nurse seemed unaware that the person who wanted to jump off a building was Ye Ling’s mother and vividly recounted the scene she had heard about. Upon questioning, Ye Ling discovered the nurse hadn’t seen it firsthand, causing her to twitch her mouth.

Meanwhile, outside the ward, Shen Bin had just stepped out of the hospital when he was stopped around the corner by Ye Qian, whose eyes were swollen like walnuts blocking his way. Shen Bin frowned deeply but didn’t walk away, choosing to stop and face her.

"Brother-in-law, please help me. I can’t keep living like this; I want a divorce from Liu Zhiyuan." Ye Qian couldn’t help crying as she spoke, "He taunts me daily and sometimes even gets physical. Because of outside rumors this time, my mother-in-law came home and scolded me, which my mom overheard and started arguing with her. Otherwise, my mom wouldn’t have been driven to try to jump off a building. Brother-in-law, there’s no one else to help me but you, please consider it as repaying the favor I did during my miscarriage. If it weren’t for that, I wouldn’t be in this situation now."

Shen Bin’s initial furrowed brow deepened after hearing her words, "Ye Qian, I advised Zhiyuan when you asked me to, and now you want me to persuade him to divorce you. I’m an outsider; it’s inappropriate to say such things. Issues between you two should be discussed openly between yourselves."

"Brother-in-law, you can’t just ignore me. If you don’t help, I really can’t live anymore." Ye Qian desperately reached out to grab him when she saw him refuse, fearing he’d turn away, "Brother-in-law, I’ve been waiting here, hoping to see you. Heaven heard my plea and let me see you. "Let go." As Shen Bin was about to retreat and escape Ye Qian’s grasp, a sharp voice pierced the air.

Both turned to look, seeing Shen Chun glaring angrily at Ye Qian with bloodshot eyes.
