CHAPTER 518: 497: IMPACT (SECOND UPDATE)

Shen Bin was surprised to see Shen Chun. After the incident with the Shen Family, he hadn’t seen Shen Chun even at the hospital. Shen Bin knew she was deliberately avoiding him, and perhaps it was for the best. The disappointment he felt towards this sister had troubled him for a while, and perhaps not seeing each other was better for everyone.

Before Shen Bin could react, Shen Chun had already lunged at Ye Qian in front of him. Instinctively, Shen Bin protected Ye Qian, and in an instant, pulled her into his arms. Ye Qian screamed in shock, and Shen Chun, seeing their actions, charged at them like an enraged bull seeing a red cloth.

Shen Bin was overwhelmed by Shen Chun’s repeated charges, almost losing his balance and falling to the ground. Ye Qian was so frightened that she burrowed further into Shen Bin’s arms while continuously screaming.

The three of them were at the hospital entrance, certainly drawing attention. After ten minutes, with Shen Bin using one hand to fend off Shen Chun and the other to push Ye Qian out of his embrace, people all around started whispering and pointing.

"Everyone calm down," Shen Bin said in a low voice. Ye Qian finally stopped crying, screaming, and clinging onto Shen Bin.

But Shen Chun was like a raging bull, requiring Shen Bin to push her forcefully to prevent her from lunging at Ye Qian. "I want to tear apart this shameless woman; she’s clearly trying to seduce you."

"Chun’er, calm down," Shen Bin ordered. "She’s just asking me to help her with something; it’s not as you think."

Shen Chun glared hatefully at Shen Bin, "You greet everyone with a smile only when it involves Ye Ling, right? But not me, never me. Is it because you look down on me, think me lesser because I’m from the countryside?"

"Calm down." Shen Bin reprimanded her, "I know you’ve been holding onto these grievances; that’s why you’re acting this way today. Think about whether speaking to your brother like this is appropriate?"

His words finally quelled the group’s discussions a bit. Initially, they thought it was a fight for a man between two women, but now it seemed rather like siblings arguing, wanting favor.

Shen Bin didn’t want to be seen as a joke and turned to the still-crying Ye Qian, "You should go. I can’t help you with your affairs. It’s a matter for you and your husband to resolve."

With Shen Chun being so agitated, it was best to hastily send Ye Qian away.

Without checking if Ye Qian left, Shen Bin pulled Shen Chun away, evidently unwilling for people to witness what they were discussing. However, everyone had already discerned they were siblings, so didn’t think much further.

Ye Qian felt embarrassed, standing alone under scrutiny, she blushed and walked away, annoyed at herself for losing the rare opportunity that Shen Chun ruined. The Shen Family truly seemed unpleasant.

Ye Qian left unwillingly, while Shen Chun, pulled away by Shen Bin to avoid the crowd, still bore a face full of resentment. Once they reached an isolated spot, she furiously shook off his hand and glared with anger.

"Shen Chun, you’re being irrational, do you realize it? Did you see the impact just now? You still have to work at the hospital; do you think this is appropriate?" Shen Bin looked at her sternly, "I know you’re upset, but you must face the fact that I’m just your older brother, always just your brother. I treat you like my closest sister, that’s why I’m involved in your matters. Otherwise, I wouldn’t care about your issues. If you truly don’t want me involved, fine, I won’t be in the future."

"Brother, don’t say that. I’m upset seeing her with you." Shen Chun covered her face and cried, "You now treat me like a stranger, but witnessing you with someone else makes me unbearable."

Seeing Shen Chun squatting on the ground, crying with her face covered, Shen Bin steeled himself momentarily, "Since you recognize your mistakes, think well on how to act moving forward. Don’t be stubborn anymore. Remember, you’re not young, and I’ve been looking for someone suitable for you recently. If you keep causing scenes, how will I find anyone for you?"

"Clean yourself up and get back to work." Shen Bin glanced at her, turned, and walked away.

Shen Chun sat alone crying for a while, not hearing footsteps anymore, she dazedly got up. How could her brother be so heartless? Why is he so harsh towards her?

She couldn’t find an answer.

Elsewhere, Shen Bin went to a restaurant with drinks, finding everyone inside drunk and staggering. Zhao Guodong saw him return, naturally complaining a bunch, then pulling Shen Bin to drink. The group of men merrily drank in the restaurant while the incident at the hospital with Shen Bin and Ye Qian spread.

Upon returning, Ye Zhenfen heard about the man in military uniform and two women, one calling the man brother. Without thinking much, she knew it was her son, causing her face to turn stern. During a bathroom break in the corridor, Ye Ling also heard about it. Though wanting to ask what happened, she kept quiet seeing her mother-in-law’s displeased face.

As dusk fell, Shen Bin reeking of alcohol returned, and Ye Zhenfen immediately called him outside for a lecture before allowing him back. Ye Ling was also waiting, wanting to know what transpired. After understanding, Ye Ling merely smiled without saying much, internally thinking if she had known, she’d have handled Ye Qian’s affairs with Liu Nan today itself, preventing such drama.

Such rumors spread swiftly. Ye Qian returned home denying involvement, but Liu Zhiyuan accused her, hurling a string of insults at Ye Qian, calling her shameless, as Ye Qian cried unshed tears.

"Alright, if it’s not you, then it’s not you. Zhiyuan’s just venting; being scolded won’t hurt you. Besides, your matter with Si Daochen isn’t groundless." Wu Mengyi, displeased at Ye Qian’s upset demeanor, mocked, "Don’t act so delicate. With so much happening, why still feel aggrieved?"

After her mother-in-law’s remarks, Ye Qian couldn’t respond, fortunately, Liu Wujiang found it unbearable and reprimanded his wife, resolving the issue.

Early next morning, before leaving the house, Ye Qian received a call. Hearing Liu Nan say Ye Ling wanted to talk to her about something, Ye Qian hesitated briefly, grabbed her bag, and headed to the hospital, requesting leave from her unit.

Inside the hospital ward, only Ye Ling was present, with no sign of Liu Nan. Ye Qian pushed the door open, sat directly on the chair. "Speak up, there’s no one else here. Get to the point, what do you want to discuss?"

Ye Ling smiled, "I just want to ask what you’re intending to do; are you planning to continue causing such disturbances? If so, don’t blame me for being unsympathetic."
