CHAPTER 532: 511: CLINGING (SECOND UPDATE)

Ye Ling and Shen Bin returned home, and from afar they could see Gao Xique standing far from the gate of the courtyard. As soon as Gao Xique saw them coming back, she hurried over with a worried expression.

"Cousin, I really didn’t know about your situation, nor that my aunt and the others would act like that. Think about it, when you switched to marrying Shen Chun halfway through, I didn’t blame you. Since coming to the city, I haven’t done anything, cousin, everything has nothing to do with me." Gao Xique seemed to be muttering to herself, cautiously, "Cousin, could you speak to the hospital and let me go back to work?"

"Cousin, I don’t have a job, and the Lin Family looks down on me. Please help me, I’m married now, I don’t want the Lin Family to dislike me." As Gao Xique spoke, she started crying, "Cousin, you see I haven’t gone to the courtyard to find you, I know you don’t like seeing us, but I have no choice, please help me."

Actually, since the day Gao Xique met Lin Tao, Ye Ling knew that this marriage wouldn’t end well; it was just a matter of time. Now that the Lin Family found out about the troubles between Gao Xique and Shen Bin and that she lost her job, the Lin Family, being so snobbish, naturally wouldn’t like Gao Xique.

"You should leave." Shen Bin moved his thin lips, "Xique, go back and talk to Lin Tao properly. If he doesn’t want you, then part ways amicably. He seems quite unreliable to me; this is the last advice I’ll give you."

Ye Ling’s hand was held by Shen Bin, and through his large hand, she could feel a faint warmth. From the moment they saw Gao Xique, Shen Bin had remained motionless, clearly having given up completely on the Shen Family.

"Cousin, I’m begging you. I finally found someone to marry; life is going well. I don’t want to lose my current life. I know that just with your word, I could go back to work. I don’t have to return to the hospital; I can work elsewhere. Rest assured, I won’t tell my aunt and them, and won’t let them come to bother you." Gao Xique promised while she spoke.

Ye Ling tugged Shen Bin’s hand to stop him from speaking, pulling Shen Bin into the courtyard, leaving Gao Xique behind. Gao Xique watched the two walk away, dazed for a while until they entered the courtyard, realizing that begging was useless.

Once inside the courtyard, Ye Ling whispered, "Whatever you say she won’t listen, unless you find her a job."

"I know. If I find her a job, it’ll definitely stir things up, bringing back issues from when we got married in the village." Shen Bin spoke with mockery, "Being soft-hearted towards them is being hard on myself, don’t worry."

"As long as you’re not upset with me." Ye Ling smiled, tugging his arm as she walked inside.

Having his wife close made Shen Bin happy, considering how seldom she displayed such intimacy in front of others. He thought about how this trouble turned into a blessing.

Ye Ling didn’t dare make it too obvious. She wanted to use this gesture to help Shen Bin relax and not dwell on troubling matters, but with her mother-in-law in the hospital, excessive actions might not look good to outsiders. When they reached home, they saw Father and Aunt Liu were there.

"Lingzi, is your mother-in-law alright?" Ye He Ping asked as soon as Ye Ling entered.

In the living room, the aunt held the child, both she and Aunt Liu looked over with concern.

"Her leg is fractured; it’s in a cast at the hospital. She’ll be staying for a few days." After stating the facts, Ye Ling comforted her father, "Dad, don’t worry. You and Aunt Liu have to host the reception tomorrow; my mother-in-law can’t go. Finish your event tomorrow, then visit her in the hospital."

"Oh, how did things reach this point?" Ye He Ping relaxed, knowing the injury wasn’t too serious.

Shen Bin, now holding the child, said quietly, "Aunt, I’ll need to trouble you to make some meals. I’ll take them to the hospital tonight."

"You child, it’s what I should do, no trouble at all." The aunt, relieved to hear there was no serious harm, continued, "Shen Bin, you and Lingzi should stay home tonight. I’m also worried about your mom, I’ll deliver the food and directly visit her."

Shen Bin thought for a moment, "Alright, I’ll drive you over."

"Let’s take Little Fatty along." Ye Ling added, "Mom will be worried about Little Fatty when she wakes up, it’s best to take him along to reassure her."

The aunt agreed happily, "I think that’s a good idea."

Ye He Ping agreed to go along, so by the time they went to the hospital in the evening, they all went together, their arrival a relief to Li Houguo’s friend who had been seeing visitors off.

That afternoon, the old lady hadn’t rested for long, with people continuously visiting, now seeing the sky getting dark, Li Houguo felt relieved.

"Your Mom and I discussed, we’ll return home tomorrow, she can continue receiving injections at home. Otherwise, with all the visitors here, it’s inconvenient." Li Houguo was worn out from the day’s activity.

Shen Bin agreed with the plan, "That’s better; guests can visit at home, making hosting easier."

So the plan was set.

On the other side of the hospital bed, Ye Zhenfen couldn’t help but smile seeing her grandson, cuddling him in her arms, playing with him. Ye Ling kept speaking cautious warnings nearby, worried the movements might affect her mother-in-law’s injured leg, but Ye Zhenfen assured her it was fine, completely unbothered.

Li Houguo led with a furrowed brow all afternoon, loosened it up to play with his grandson, while Ye Ling helped by serving meals to her mother-in-law. Ye He Ping chatted with Li Houguo, despite having left the company for years, still showing enthusiasm for it.

Only when Little Fatty was ready to sleep did Ye Ling and the others leave.

The next morning, they naturally brought her mother-in-law home, but the Shen Family heard the news and stirred trouble at the courtyard again, until the security guards called the police, taking them to the station. The courtyard wasn’t a place for ordinary people; such disturbances were unwelcome.

Only when taken to the police station did Shen’s father fear, receiving education and repeatedly admitting faults, left with much less arrogance than before.

The Shen Family finally quieted down, with Shen Chun also out of work, the three sat on the kang all looking bewildered, Shen’s father worried, "Chun’er, why don’t you go apologize to Shen Bin? Let’s all get along in the future."

If things truly continue this way, without work there’s no money, how could they survive in the city? He didn’t want to seek work elsewhere, couldn’t just stubbornly starve as a family?
