After Rebirth: The Alpha Ex-Husband Is Addicted to Me
Chapter 210: I’m Pregnant (Part 14)
CHAPTER 210: CHAPTER 210: I’M PREGNANT (PART 14)
Seeing Charles Sharp, the man immediately stopped.
Sophie Bennett, however, was fearless, "What are you looking at?"
Charles Sharp said with no expression, "If you want to go out and play, do it. Don’t make noise at home so I can’t rest."
This remark made Sophie Bennett even angrier, "Does it mean that you won’t care how I play outside?"
"You’re an adult, your legs are on you, do whatever you want after thinking it through."
"I just won’t go out. I’ll stay at home and annoy you to death," Sophie Bennett snorted, "Charles Sharp, who do you think you are? Do you really think that without you there’s no other man in the world? Must I hang myself on your tree? I don’t love you; marrying you is only for our Presidential Mansion. Don’t be so self-righteous. Even if my mom urges me to have a child with you, and even if you want one, I won’t give birth for you."
"You’re overthinking it." He said no more, headed back to his room to grab his coat, and left.
Sophie Bennett ran to the balcony, watched him drive away, and stomped her feet in anger.
She was heartbroken and disappointed.
——
The next day, Lucy Eaton received a call from the Ophthalmology Research Institute, asking her to come over.
She tidied up and went to report in.
The director looked at her and asked, "Are you Tia Bailey?"
Lucy Eaton nodded, "Yes."
"Mr. Gill said you graduated from a medical university before. Can you tell me what your major was?"
"Neurology."
"Why do you want to study ophthalmology?"
"I want to help blind people regain their sight. Although I know that current domestic technology is helpless for many blind patients, I want to give my bit of strength. This is something meaningful for me and showcases my self-worth."
The director nodded, "But you’re starting from scratch; this won’t be understood in a day or two."
"I have an exceptional memory. I believe this can help me achieve more with less effort."
"Can I test you on that?"
Lucy Eaton smiled, "Of course you can."
The director casually picked up a book, flipped to a page, "I’ll give you one minute to summarize the central idea of this page for me."
Lucy Eaton took it, quickly scanned through it twice, then returned the book to him and directly recited the page, adding a summary at the end, which made the director delightfully surprised, as if he had discovered a new continent.
"Your memory is truly astounding."
"I think this advantage will allow me to learn anything very quickly."
"That is sure to be the case; you will study alongside me from now on."
"Thank you, Director."
"Don’t call me that; I prefer others to call me Dr. Zhang."
Lucy Eaton smiled and nodded, "Alright, Dr. Zhang."
All the researchers at the institute are veteran medical professors. According to Dr. Zhang, even students from prestigious medical schools find it hard to get in.
She got in as an exception.
Lucy Eaton was well aware that it was Elliot Gill’s doing.
But unlike the Ningham City First Hospital, no one here said she got in via connections.
This made her feel very strange.
As she was leaving at noon, she couldn’t help but say, "Everyone is very kind to me, and no one questions how I got here. This surprises me."
Dr. Zhang laughed and said, "Don’t you know Mr. Gill provided our institute with a twenty million dollar research grant? You’re his girlfriend; you want to learn skills, so what’s there to say about that."
Twenty million...
She really didn’t know.
Elliot Gill was truly unpredictable.
"He didn’t mention anything about donations to me."
"Your boyfriend is really good to you," Dr. Zhang smiled broadly and said, "Tia, you’re really lucky."
Lucy Eaton smiled, "Dr. Zhang, I’ll be leaving first."
"Alright, see you tomorrow."
When Lucy Eaton returned to Newhope Commons, Elliot Gill had not yet come back.
She prepared the meal, and he came in right on time.
"Did you time your return?"
"How did you know?" His mood seemed good, with a smile on his face.
"You donated twenty million to the Ophthalmology Research Institute to get me in; you’re really willing to spend money."
Elliot Gill put his suit jacket on the sofa, washed his hands, and came out, rolling up his sleeves, "What’s the harm in spending money on you?"
"I don’t feel I’m worth your sacrifice."
"You’re pretending to be my girlfriend. I got you into the Ophthalmology Research Institute. Regardless of how I got you in, I upheld my end of the deal. Why think so much?"
It seemed so, but Lucy Eaton still felt something wasn’t right.
She didn’t want to ask more.
"By the way, you should be quite concerned about Stellan Quinn’s whereabouts. I’ve had people watching her for you."
"How do you know everything?"
"Your business is my business; I naturally need to know."
Lucy Eaton lowered her head to eat, "Where did she go?"
"She and a friend went to Country M without changing identities, but this woman indeed has some skills," Elliot Gill said as he ate, "Shortly after arriving, she hooked up with a businessman from Country M in a nightclub. That businessman has been divorced three times. His three ex-wives bore him five children."
"He must be quite old?"
"In his fifties, I suppose."
Lucy Eaton sneered, "Stellan Quinn is really not picky. To hook up with a rich businessman, it must be that friend of hers pulling the strings behind. She’s always got the most ideas."
"The fish you made today is delicious. Why aren’t you eating?"
"My stomach is uncomfortable; I just want some porridge."
"Did you eat something cold?"
She shook her head, "No."
He deboned the fish and picked a piece for her, "Eat a little. Just drinking porridge won’t do."
Lucy Eaton didn’t want to hurt his pride, so she ate it. But just after swallowing, she felt a rumbling in her stomach and rushed to the bathroom to vomit.
Elliot Gill poured a glass of water and brought it to the bathroom for her to rinse her mouth, "I’ll take you to the hospital to check it out this afternoon."
Lucy Eaton agreed, as health is crucial, early treatment when sick, "Okay."
At nearly two o’clock, the two went to the hospital.
They registered and quickly got their turn.
After asking about her symptoms, the gastroenterologist asked, "When was your last period? I need to rule out pregnancy-related morning sickness first."
Elliot Gill’s face instantly turned cold upon hearing this.
Lucy Eaton stood up, "I’ll go to the gynecology department first to rule it out."
"That would be best."
The two went out, neither speaking, and Lucy Eaton went to register for the gynecology department.
The doctor handed her a pregnancy test stick, telling her to test it first.
She held her urine and took the urine cup to the bathroom.
The result was beyond her imagination; two red lines indicated she was indeed pregnant.
It was the child of her and Jacob Green.
Lucy Eaton knew that this result couldn’t be hidden from Elliot Gill, since her belly would grow bigger.
She threw the urine cup and pregnancy test stick into the trash, pulled up her pants, and left the bathroom.
"What’s the result?"
"I’m pregnant."
Elliot Gill tightly pursed his lips, his face terribly grim, as if she had cuckolded him.
"Let’s talk outside."
