After Rebirth: The Alpha Ex-Husband Is Addicted to Me
Chapter 214: I’m Pregnant (Part 18)
CHAPTER 214: CHAPTER 214: I’M PREGNANT (PART 18)
Jacob Green gently lowered the person in his arms and walked towards Grace Hughes, "Stellan was murdered, wasn’t it you? How dare you frame her?"
Grace felt a jolt in her heart and stepped back, "What are you talking about? I’m Stellan’s best friend, why would I kill her?"
"I’ve already found evidence that proves you’re the mastermind behind it. Dare you still argue with me?!" Jacob pulled out a gun and aimed it directly at her forehead, "You instigator, today is your death day!"
Grace was so frightened that she couldn’t speak, knowing full well she was doomed, "Even in death, I’ve brought two down with me, it’s worth it. Jacob, no one in this world will love you more than I do, yet you’ve never once looked at me. I mean nothing to you. Do you really think you still love Stellan? Your heart has long since left her; you just don’t know it. Lucy deserved to die, interrupting everything I planned. If that night I had been the one with you, I’d have borne your child; you’d have married me, and your wife’s position would be mine. What place would she have then?!"
At this point, tears streamed down her face, "I gave you all my heart. If you had a shred of place for me in yours, I might feel better. What do you see in that fool Stellan that makes you so devoted? Lucy lost her bargaining chip, yet you didn’t divorce her. At first, I couldn’t understand, but then I realized you see her as your real wife; you’re used to it. Just now, I personally put an end to your habit. There’s no one to compete with me for you anymore..."
Grace’s body trembled, and blood trickled down from the center of her forehead. She looked longingly at the man she had loved for so long, "If I could live another life, I would still love you and go to any lengths to have you..."
Her body fell to the ground, her eyes still half-open.
"Drag her body out and feed it to the dogs!"
Nathaniel Green stepped forward and kicked Grace’s corpse in hatred, then dragged her out by her arms.
"Everyone leave. I want to speak to the Young Madam alone."
Oliver Green motioned to the other subordinates to retreat together.
Jacob held Lucy again in his arms, his face buried in her head. After a while, a choked voice emerged from his throat, "I never thought you were the murderer of Stellan. I only locked you up here to protect you. I originally planned to let you out when I found the real killer..."
"I’m sorry..."
"I love you..."
"Sadly, you can no longer hear it..."
"I feel so terrible, please come back to life..."
Outside the door, Oliver waited for half an hour but still hadn’t seen his young master return. He gently opened the door, "Young master... young master!"
His previously soft voice suddenly rose sharply, unable to breathe at this moment.
Other subordinates rushed in together. Jacob hugged Lucy, lying on the ground, holding her hand with which he had shot himself.
...
Jacob woke up from his dream, sitting up, clutching his heart, still feeling the pain of being torn apart.
His gaze fell on the empty spot beside him, instantly filled with extreme desolation.
The second hand on the bedside clock moved slowly, indicating it was four o’clock.
The scenes in his mind interwove with each other, and he suddenly realized something.
Why did Lucy hate Grace so deeply?
How did Lucy know that Grace was behind the event that night in the hotel?
Why did Lucy leave so decisively after being with him, not intending any further development regardless of the price offered?
Why did Lucy rarely rely on him after marrying him?
Why did he feel so familiar with her when they first met, as if he already knew her?
Why did she say in her drunkenness that she didn’t kill Stellan, and it was Grace who was guilty?
How did she know about Elijah’s song in advance?
All these questions pointed to one undeniable truth.
They had once been husband and wife.
They had had a marriage of six years.
They had once had children, only they weren’t born.
And all these memories, Lucy had them.
Jacob found it all both laughable and sorrowful. They had been spouses in two lifetimes, yet never grew old together.
Everything was destiny.
He sat until dawn, then called Nathaniel over.
"What is Grace doing abroad now?"
"What else could she be doing? Spending her days eating, drinking, and having fun with Stellan. Stellan has attached herself to a fifty-something-year-old tycoon abroad and seems very much favored now."
"Is that so?" Jacob pondered, "Without Arthur Bennett as a backer, it’s not easy for them to still be flourishing like this abroad..."
Nathaniel noted his pause and added, "Does the young master want me to cause her some trouble?"
"No." He denied, his eyes frosty, "Starting today, I’m laying the groundwork. I won’t let any of those who deserve to die live."
Nathaniel had never seen him with such an expression—a hatred towards someone to the core.
——
More than a month had passed since Logan Moore began his meditation, and Lily Green still hadn’t heard from him.
This past month, because Jacob rarely came to the company, she was extremely busy, but today, after four in the afternoon, she had some free time.
Then she drove to the Grand Saint Temple.
She anticipated Logan must have returned from his meditation.
So she came specifically to find him.
After entering the temple, she headed straight to Logan’s meditation room.
On the way, a Little Monk stopped her, "Miss Green, please stop."
Lily paused, "What’s the matter, little monk?"
"You must be here to see Brother Logan, right?"
Lily nodded, "Yes, is he here?"
"Brother Logan is currently being punished with kneeling."
"Kneeling as punishment? Why?" Lily’s face immediately turned sour.
"It’s still because of you," the Little Monk’s tone was very calm, "Brother sent you a letter which Mother intercepted. Everyone thinks Brother Logan doesn’t want to get engaged, all because of you, Miss Green. Forgive my boldness, but you and Brother Logan have no chance together. The gap between you both is as vast as ten thousand mountains; you’re not from the same world. It would be best if you stopped looking for him and quit seeing him, for the good of both of you."
"The gap you’re talking about is status. Love knows no gaps."
Lily Green turned and left the temple, went to a phone shop, bought a phone, put in a card, and input her number.
She then returned to her place, pulled out a small suitcase, packed two sets of clothes, cosmetics, and two bottles of wine.
She then took a round at a supermarket, buying a large bag of snacks.
After getting into the car, she fastened her seatbelt, put on her Bluetooth headset, and dialed Jacob’s number.
