After Rebirth: The Alpha Ex-Husband Is Addicted to Me
Chapter 42: I Do
CHAPTER 42: CHAPTER 42: I DO
"I do."
A brilliant firework exploded in his mind.
Jacob Green’s pupils sparkled with joy, "Really?"
"I just told you directly, what do you think?" Lucy Eaton repeated herself, "I am willing to marry you and become your wife."
The unease in Jacob Green’s heart was immediately relieved, and all the previous unhappiness was completely forgotten, "Have you really thought it through?"
"Of course, I’ve never thought about something for so long. Because I have concerns, I propose three hidden marriage conditions. If you sign and agree, we’ll get the marriage certificate."
"Tell me."
"First, we will have a hidden marriage for three months. Second, during these three months, we can only have marital relations once a week. Third, this three-month period is a trial period; if I am satisfied with our married life, then the agreement we signed will automatically become void. If I’m not satisfied, we’ll quietly divorce after three months, and you have to pay me thirty million in compensation at once."
Jacob Green thought there was more to it, but when he heard these three points, he agreed without hesitation, "I fully agree, but I have one question."
"What?"
"Marital relations once a week, what if I strictly adhere to it, but you break the rule?"
"How could I possibly break the rule?" she was firmly incredulous, "Just keep your lower half in check, and all will be well."
"I’ve managed to control it for these four months; what’s a mere six days?" he was full of confidence, "No problem at all."
"If I break the rule, then our agreement is void, and we’ll continue as we are. Regarding the hidden marriage, if our marriage continues after three months, we’ll discuss whether to go public then."
"Whatever you say." He grabbed her and eagerly pressed her onto the bed.
"Not here."
"Then how about at home?"
"You go wait for me in the car first, and I’ll change clothes."
Jacob Green slowly let her go, "I’ll wait for you."
Just as Lucy Eaton changed her clothes, Mia Townsend returned.
"Mia, I agreed to it."
Upon hearing this, Mia Townsend immediately smiled, "Great news, congratulations."
"But I set three conditions." She explained the three conditions to her.
Mia Townsend gave a thumbs up after listening, "Well thought out, with a fallback."
"I won’t be back tonight, you rest early."
Mia Townsend couldn’t help but laugh, "Will you come over tomorrow?"
"Of course, I’ll bring you lunch."
Mia Townsend made an OK gesture, "See you tomorrow."
"Okay. By the way, where did you go just now?"
"Went out for a walk, got some air, it was too stuffy in the room."
"Alright, I’m leaving then."
When Lucy Eaton went downstairs, Jacob Green extinguished the half cigarette he had been smoking and drove away from the hospital.
"Do you know who my female roommate in the hospital is?"
"Who?"
"Her name is Mia Townsend, she once dated your brother, but they broke up because of your family’s interference."
Jacob Green looked at her in surprise, "Is it really her?"
"Of course, we ran into your brother and Mia in the hospital before."
Jacob Green said nothing, "That’s quite awkward."
"She hasn’t had any luck. It was her parents who forced her to face life and death tests. Her brother has epilepsy and nobody has asked him to marry. Her parents wanted to buy him a house, but the family had no money. I heard that after breaking up with your brother, she didn’t take the college entrance exam, developed depression, and attempted suicide twice but was saved each time. I just think fate is playing a trick on her."
"If it were me, I’d rather die than say the word break up."
Lucy Eaton looked at his profile, "If it were me, as long as the other person doesn’t say breakup, I will definitely pull through, I think Mia is the same as me."
Jacob Green smiled, "Then that’s good. The household registration book is with me these days because of work; let’s get the marriage certificate tomorrow then."
"Alright."
"If your family knows you acted first and reported later, they’re definitely going to be really angry."
"What’s there to fear? They’ll blame me anyway." He was fearless, "They can make decisions for me on many matters, but when it comes to my wife, only I can decide, no one else has that right."
"I’m quite pleased to hear you say that. I hope you’ll stick to it; after all, no woman wants to marry a man who can’t even protect his own wife."
Jacob Green silently made a decision in his heart; he refused to be the coward she described, and he wanted to be the man she was proud to be with.
Back home, Nathaniel Green saw that Lucy Eaton had come and immediately jogged forward to greet her, "Miss Eaton, you’re here."
"Yes, Nathan."
Nathaniel Green straightened up immediately, "Here!"
"Please take care in the future."
Nathaniel Green, being very smart, nodded vigorously, "You’re too polite, it’s only right, Young Madam!"
The term ’Young Madam’ was not unfamiliar to Lucy Eaton at all.
"Nathan, move the piano from the music room to the master bedroom."
"Yes."
Lucy Eaton knew his intentions but didn’t point it out.
Jacob Green naturally held Lucy Eaton’s hand, "Are you hungry? Want something to eat?"
"Not hungry."
"Then let’s go freshen up."
When the two came out of the bathroom, a white piano was already placed in the bedroom.
He pulled her to sit on the bench in front of the piano.
He first tuned the piano, then said to her, "Listen to the ’Letter’ I play."
His long, slender fingers began to dance across the keys, and when the first note sounded, Lucy Eaton felt a sense of breathlessness.
It was the first time she had seen him play the piano.
Elegant yet magnetically lively, it captivated her like a whirlpool.
Lucy Eaton was so mesmerized by him sitting beside her that she stared.
When he finished playing, he saw her looking at him like that, raised an eyebrow, "Did I play well?"
"Yes, it was beautiful."
"Compared to Charles Sharp?"
"Each has its own merits."
As soon as she said this, he pulled her into a tight embrace and sealed her lips, muffling, "Whatever other men can do, your man can do too. No looking at other men like that again!"
Despite his warning,
Lucy Eaton felt a warm current flow through her heart; one only cares if they care, right?
She thought about it for days, weighing again and again whether she wanted to marry him.
In the end, she agreed because she felt he was vastly different from before. Compared to the heartless, cold-hearted man he used to be, he was now like a warm stove in winter, making her feel she should give him a chance, after all, this was the man she once loved wholeheartedly.
She hadn’t intended to have any ties with him, but unexpectedly, she ended up walking to this point step by step.
It took so much courage to marry him for the second time, only she knew it.
After months apart, reunited like parched land meets rain, both were extremely engaged and lost in each other.
