Chapter 193: I’ll Apany Her

Chapter 193: I’ll Apany Her

(Elena ckwood’s POV)

I looked at Marcus suspiciously, unmoved by his deration. The dessert sat untouched between us, its

sweet aroma doing nothing to ease the tension in the room.

Victoria’s face flushed with barely contained anger. Her hands clenched into fists at her sides as she struggled to maintainposure.

“Marcus, how could you possibly think of going to Riverside City?” she demanded, her voice sharp with

disbelief.

The conflict that had been brewing beneath the surface of our pack family dynamic finally erupted. Victoria’s

maternal instincts warred with her political calctions.

Marcus set down his spoon deliberately, meeting his mother’s furious gaze. “Elena has obligations to her

foster family.”

His voice carried the authority of an Alpha, even while wearing a patient gown. “Would we want to bebeled

as unrighteous?”

Victoria’s eyes shed dangerously. “What about your own well–being? You’re barely recovered!”

Marcus paused, his golden eyes never leaving hers. The silence stretched between them like a taut wire.

“I’ll apany her,” he dered simply.

The words hit me like a physical blow. My mouth fell open in shock as I stared at him.

Victoria’s face went white, then red with rage. “Are you insane?”

“Given your fragile health, this is madness!” she continued, her voice rising with each word.

Marcus dismissed her concerns with a casual wave. “I’m not about to die, Mother.”

His nonchnt attitude only fueled Victoria’s fury. Her hands trembled with the effort of restraining herself.

“Consider it a vacation,” he added with infuriating calm.

Victoria’sposure finally crackedpletely. “A vacation? You could copse at any moment!”

“This is my own decision,” Marcus stated firmly. “Any resulting issues will not be Elena’s responsibility.”

The finality in his tone left no room for argument. Victoria’s face cycled through emotions – angerb, /bfear,

After a long, tense pause, she found her voice again. “My agreement alone isn’t enough.”

Marcus nodded acknowledgment. “I’ll exin the situation to him personally.”

Victoria gathered herposure, straightening her shoulders with visible effort. As she prepared to leave, she cast a final, venomous nce in my direction.

“If anything happens to Marcus,” she warned, her voice deadly quiet, “you will not be spared.”

The threat hung in the air like poison. Victoria’s maternal fury was terrifying to behold.

She turned and stormed toward the door. The m that followed revealed the true depth of her anger.

The room fell into ufortable silence. I could feel Marcus watching me, waiting for my reaction.

“You didn’t need to anger your mother,” I said finally. “She’s only worried about you.”

Marcus leaned back against his pillows. “My presence in Riverside City isn’t needed for your sake.”

I stood to leave, but his voice stopped me. “Elena.”

“I have responsibilities in the ckthorne family’s affairs,” he stated. “I must go.”

The conviction in his voice surprised me. After a moment of silence, I simply said, “Whatever you want.”

I returned to the Shadow Wing Guest Suite without another word.

(God’s POV)

At the ckwood Ancestral Manor, Alexander ckwood stood silently by the study window. His weathered hands sped behind his back as he contemted his son’s decision.

The afternoon light cast long shadows across the polished floor. Alexander’s expression remained thoughtful, calcting.

Meanwhile, in the Great Hall, Victoria paced frantically before Margaret ckwood. Her earlierposure hadpletely abandoned her.

“Mother, your grandson is beingpletely unreasonable!” Victoriained bitterly.

Margaret sat calmly in her chair, prayer beads moving rhythmically through her fingers. Her ancient eyes held wisdom and patience.

“He’s disregarding his own health for that woman,” Victoria continued, her voice rising with frustration.

Margaret’s beads paused in their rotation. “What does Alexander think about this matterb?/bb” /b

Victoria’s pacing stopped abruptly. She turned toward the study with desperate hope.

“Trying to stop Marcus would be futile,” Alexander continued pragmatically. “It’s better to let him do bas /bbhe /bpleases.”

Victoria’s face went pale with shock. “Wouldn’t you regret it if something happened to our son in Riverside City?”

Alexander’s expression remained steady, unmoved by her emotional appeal. “Then I’ll apany him to Riverside City.”

The unexpected offer stunned Victoria into silence. Her mouth fell open as she processed his words.

Margaret nodded slowly, her prayer beads resuming their gentle rhythm. “That seems like a reasonablepromise.”

Grace Burton appeared at Margaret’s side, offering her arm for support. “Shall we retire to the Meditation Sanctuary, Madam?”

Margaret rose gracefully, epting the assistance. “Yes, I believe some quiet reflection would be beneficial.”

After they departed, Victoria confronted Alexander in the suddenly empty Great Hall. Her eyes zed with suspicion and hurt.

“You have ulterior motives beyond simply apanying our son,” she used, her voice low and dangerous.

Alexander feigned ignorance, his expression carefully neutral. “What other reason could I possibly have?”

Victoria stepped closer, lowering her voice to a harsh whisper. “You have never let go of the woman in your

heart.”
