Chapter 97: The Alpha’s Ultimatum

(Marcus ckwood’s POV)

“ident?” Margaret sneered, her golden cane tapping sharply against the floor. ‘Sophia’s shadow is behind the idents of Elena’s brother and parents, and you’re telling me it’s an ident?”

I remained silent, staring at the white ceiling above. I had suspected these things for weeks now. The timing

was too convenient, the circumstances too perfect.

But I was always unwilling to believe that Sophia had the intention to harm others. I had known her for ten

years. We had been in love once.

Six years ago, I was unable to confront my family and save her. The guilt had eaten at me ever since.

Even though I knew Sophia had some petty thoughts and had framed Elena, they were just harmless things.

Not enough to take a life.

Margaret closed her eyes deeply and sighed. “If I had known that mating you would make her so unhappy, I

shouldn’t have agreed in the first ce.”

Her voice cracked with regret. “Which has led to me neglecting her feelings until now.”

She had clearly agreed to their bond severanceb, /bbut still wanted them to make do with each other.

I frowned, confusion mixing with anger. “What do you mean you agreed? Wasn’t it your intention to have her

mate with me in the first ce?”

My voice rose despite the pain in my chest. “You and her forced Sophia away, without consic feelings.”

my

Margaret was stunned, then suddenlyughed in anger. “It’s true that I forced Sophia away, but that has

nothing to do with Elena.”

Her eyes zed with fury. “She didn’t know about you and Sophia when she mated with you.”

The words hit me like a physical blow. I fell silent, leaning against the headboard, lost in thought.

“Forget it,” Margaret said, her voice heavy with finality. b“/bIf you want to sever the bond, then sever it. Our ckwood family owes her, and we’ve paid it back.”

Victoria was shocked and looked at Margaret. “Mother, but Elena is pregnant with the ckwood family’s child. Even if they sever the bond, we have to wait until-

“She has the right to decide whether to keep the child.” Margaret was resolute and left with her cane.

Alexander saw her out, casting worried nces back at me.

I looked out the window, my expression dark and unpredictable. The weight of everything crashed down on ollime. /li/ol

At eight o’clock in the evening, Elena came to the hospital. Victoria had called her and asked her toe.

Elena stood outside the door for a moment, then pushed it open and enteredb. /b

Chapter 97 The Alpha’s 48.

I was sitting on the bed, my upper body bare, with only a coat draped over my shoulders. My waist and abdomen were wrapped in white gauze.

The once spirited Alpha now had heavy weariness between his brows

My eyes fell on Elena’s face, my voice hoarse. “I didn’t think byou /bwoulde to see me.”

Elena stood at the foot of the bed. “As long as you’re still alive.”

“You want me to dieb?/b”

b“/bbI /bkind of do.”

Iughed in anger. “If I die, won’t you be sad?b” /b

Elena bwas /bsilent for half a second, then smiled. “Why would I be? Even if you die right now, I wouldn’t shed a

tear.”

I stared at her, trying to find a trace of reluctance or attachment on her bface/b. Like she used to always look at

me with affection.

But there was none.

My jaw moved, and my chest rose and fell with deep breaths. “You hate me?”

Elena looked at me calmly. “No hate. Do you think I still love you?”

I picked up a lighter and lit a cigarette. I didn’t care whether smoking was prohibited in the room.

I took two puffs, a little impatiently, and seemed to choke on it. I hissed when I coughed, pulling at my

wound.

Seeing that Elena still didn’t move, I suddenlyughed. “I can see that you hate me. Do you w

bond?”

Mentioning bond severance, Elena blinked.

I leaned against the headboard, exhaling smoke, My bdeep /beyes revealed a trace of the smoke, my smile

fading.

“But L, Marcus ckwood, only have widowhood, no bond severance. If I don’t die, this bond severance won’t

happen.”

Before Elena could respond, I put the cigarette butt into a water bss/b. The ashes were instantly

extinguished.

I picked up the scissors on the table and got out of bbed/b. I dragged my injured body step by step towards her, handing the scissors to her.

She resisted, and I gripped them tighter, pointing the scissors at my heart. “Stab here, and you’ll be free.b” /b

Seeing the tip of the scissors about to pierce me, Elena bforcefully /bpulled her hand away. The scissors fell

from her hand.

“You’re crazy!”

Iughed, reached out and pulled her into my arms. I cupped her slightly pale cheeks.

“Hate me, then hate me. Elena, you chose to mate with me. Even if you regret it, you can bonly /bendure it.”

Elena’s pupils shrank as I kissed her fiercely. She struggled, but I ignored the pain in my waist and abdomen,

I pulled her back and pushed her onto the bed. Seeing her struggling fiercely. I endured the pain of my wound

tearing.

I tightened my grip and held her tightly in my arms. “Elena, I won’t touch you.”

I didn’t make any further moves. Elena faintly smelled blood and looked at the bandages wrapped around me.

The new bandages were stained with blood again.

“Elena.” My voice was terribly hoarse. “It hurts a lot.”

She still didn’t look at me. “Call a doctor.”

“Aren’t byou /ba healer?”

She didn’t speak. I didn’t speak either.

After a long time, I made no sound. If she couldn’t hear my breathing, she would have thought I was dead.

Elena broke free from my arms and pressed the nurse call button. She left the ward without stopping for a

momentb. /b

The next day, when I woke up, the gauze on my waist had been changed. I thought Elena had changed it, and

the corners of my lips unconsciously turned up.

She still had a conscience.

Victoria entered the room with Caregiver Helen carrying food, but Elena was nowhere to be seen.

“Where is she?”

“Who?” Victoria asked knowingly, sneering. “Elena? She leftst night, didn’t stay with you.”

My brow furrowed slightly

“She’s really something. Your wound was bleedingst night and she didn’t care. If the nurse hadn’te in and taken a look, you would have been dead!” /

My face darkened. “She didn’t treat my wound?”

Victoria sat on the sofa and put down her bag. “You expect her to treat your wound? She’d rather you die!”

I said nothing, the depths of my eyes as dark as the night. She was really ruthless.

Victoria used the remote control to move the dining table to the bedside. Remembering something, she said, “Your grandmother had the hospital suspend Sophia.”

bI /bsaid faintly, “Understood.”

I

Seeing that I didn’t seem to care much about Sophia, she didn’t bother to say anything more.

(Elena ckwood’s POV)

I also learned about Sophia’s suspension, but I was not in the mood to care about these things.

I took out the house deed that Patricia had hidden. Following the buyer Patricia had contacted before her death, I arranged to meet at noon.

The other party was Robert and Linda Morrison, a middle–aged couple who wanted to settle in the Northern

Territory. New house prices were too expensive, so they wanted to find a second–hand house.

They had contacted Patricia before. When they learned that Patricia couldn’te due to some matter and that Patricia’s daughter woulde instead, they were willing to talk.

“Miss ckwood, your mother showed us the housest week. I heard that it’s where you’ve lived for many years, and the location is really good. Are you really willing to sell it to us for three million?”

A three–million–dor house in this location in the Northern Territory was practically a steal.

I lowered my eyes. “We’re in a hurry to sell. After all, we’re leaving the Northern Territory in a few days?

“In a hurry to sell? This… there’s nothing bwrong /bwith the house, is there?”

“No.” I looked at them and exined. “This house was bought by my father back then. After my father passed away, my rtives have been coveting the house’s ownership, trying every means to illegally upy it.”

I paused, gathering my thoughts. “My mother and I have no other choice. We don’t want the house to fall into their hands, so we can only sell it.”

The two were enlightened. After agreeing on the price, they agreed to the transaction.

I said goodbye to the two at the restaurant. After watching them leave, I was about to leave when Server Jake stopped me.

“Madam, Young Master Sterling invites you to sit down.”
