CHAPTER 39: MY IDENTITY | THE NAME NOSFERATU |

"I am—" I begin. Taking a deep breath, I looked at Erzsébet with a clear gaze.

"Myself...I am Valerian Aísē and nothing more and less."

My words made Erzsabet smile with satisfaction. She stood up and came down from the elevated platform.

’Damn, it’s only these times I respect physics, ’ I thought, admiring the display of jiggle physics.

"That’s a wonderful answer, Valerian. Never forget who you are because when you do, it truly sucks," She muttered with a sad smile and rubbed my head with her soft motherly hand.

As she touched my head, I found myself wishing she were my mother.

This was a feeling I haven’t experienced before, but it’s both confusing and comforting.’

"And also from now on, you are not just Valerian Aísē." She stopped patting me and looked into my eyes with a mischievous look as if curious to know my reaction to that information.

"What do you mean by that? "

I asked, obviously confused by her words.

In response to my confusion, Erzsabet chuckled and stepped a foot back.

"You, now as a member of the vampire society, must have a vampire name aside from your name as Valerian."

Hearing her words, I was unprepared for the sudden need to have a second name.

"Is it necessary?" I asked, hoping for a way out.

But to my disappointment, she shook her head and said, "Unfortunately, no, unless you want to change your human name to better suit a vampire’s."

"A vampire’s name is more than just a simple way to be addressed; it also connects them to their root of existence."

"So what do you want to do?" She asked again, this time more patiently and gently

’Guess I don’t have a choice but wait...’ Suddenly, I thought of something and asked

"I won’t have to add five more names right now, because you know I am part of five races now," I asked with beads of sweat dropping from my forehead.

"Yes, and No. Yes, all of the other races might need you to adopt another name, as Valerian is a human name and won’t get connected to you anymore—" Before she could finish, I blurted out.

"Wait, I am not recognised as me, what do you mean?" At my sudden interruption, Erzsabet pouted.

"Don’t interrupt me, Humf, Bad boy." She then waved her hand, and countless rose vines materialized and bound my mouth and body

"Mhhmmh!!" I let out a muffled scream, but she continued where she left off

"Ah, where was I, yes, ahem...So I guess you are still feeling somewhat weak and not as powerful as you were before. You might be thinking it’s because of the aftereffect of that battle, but that was actually"

She paused for a moment and looked at me intently.

"Because you were not connecting properly with your other sides, as they don’t have a proper identity yet."

’Wait, really, then all that I did with Eva was my own doing and not my Incubus side influencing me. Now that I think about it, I didn’t lose control this time as well.

"And about adopting five different ones, actually, it’s not needed. Just think of one that could work well with the others as well."

Her last words at least made me a bit relieved.

’So I just need to think of a cool new name, no worries, I guess.’ I made up my mind and looked at Erzsabet with a determined expression.

Realising I had made up my mind, Erzsabet unbound me from the bindings, making me take a deep breath after finally getting some air.

"Huff...Alright then, I just need a cool name, right? Let me think of one," I said with a deep breath and closed my eyes to think of one.

Hmm, but what names suit a hybrid of Vampire+werewolf+Incubus+Warlock+Druid

"How about Alucard?" I said, finally arriving at a cool name, but she immediately shook her head

"No, it’s already taken, and besides, why did you come up with that one?"

It seems that the name was already taken. Now that I remember, that crow did mention someone called Alucard.

Now what should I pick, something that has a connection to night, I guess, and also suits my Roman Greek name.

Hmmm....

"How about...Nosferatu," I said, arriving on a name that was often synonymous with a vampire and a monster of the night, and also with Roman origin.

Well, because I don’t know how to name myself, I chose a name that I remembered after reading a manga.

But upon hearing my words, Erzsabet’s face darkened a lot, and she almost looked as if she would kill me.

"Valerian, think again...think of a different name," she said, but her voice was laced with an invisible threat.

But I was intrigued by her reaction, and a part of me wanted to know why she was so defensive of this name.

"Is that name also booked? If not, I want it," I said, preparing for her response.

Erzsabet bit her lips at the question. and muttered, "Are you sure you want that name? Valerian, trust me, that name, though not owned by anyone now, is very important for us vampires. and you could get in trouble if you adopt it"

It seems that the name is very important.

But a part of me desires that name more than anything.

"If I can have that, I want it," I said with a determined expression.

Erzsabet sighed and walked back towards her throne and sat on it gracefully.

"Then from now on, Valerian, my son-in-law, you shall adopt the name of the original Vampire lord Nosferatu and accept all burden that comes with it," She declared with a deep and commanding voice.

As she said those words, I started to sense a strange feeling forming in my heart.

Like letters being inscribed on my heart.

"AAAAAHhhhhhhhhhhhhh!"

Damn it, Mom, couldn’t you say it would be like this? I am tired of getting my body fucked by pain every damn time.

"I warned you that the name is more ancient than you think, and the burden that comes with it is immense," Erzsabet said with a cold look, as if not caring about what happens to me.

’Damn, I feel like I pissed her off quite a lot,’ I thought in pain as I felt like my heart was burning in hellfire.

I was feeling immense pain, but fortunately, I was used to it by now.

’Just a bit more...’ I internally screamed and bit my lip to almost rupture it.

And as if the almighty author finally had some kind of sympathy for me, I felt my pain receding as the final letter was written on my heart.

"Hahh..HAhh, never knew getting a name hurts so much, so now mom. How about now? Am I a proper part of the supernatural society now?" I said with a smirk, my face sweaty while still clutching my chest.

However.

Erzsabet looked at me in shock.

’How?’ she wondered, confused and shocked

"Mother-in-law?" I asked again, walking her up from her internal struggle

"Yes?" she asked, still dazed in her thoughts.

"So am I allowed to go now? I was already tired before, but now I am struggling to even stand." I uttered with a tired smile

She absentmindedly nodded at my request.

"Then I’ll take my leave," I bowed respectfully and left the throneroom with shaky legs.

’Damn, I need some serious rest now,’ I thought, hoping that no problem occurs that needs my attention.

Especially when I am this close to my grave.....

................

...

After a whole past since Valerian’s departure from the room

Erzsabet, finally leaving her dazed look, uttered helplessly.

"To think the man for whom my daughter caused so much trouble. could actually adopt the name of that person. Is this just a mere coincidence?"

She looked extremely lost as she said those words.

"What do you think, Big sis?" She asked, turning towards the woman who was standing in the shadows

She stepped into the moonlight, framing her face in a crimson shade and said, "My lady, whether or not it’s a coincidence, I don’t know, but I do know one thing." She paused and looked at her queen with a sad smile

"Our lord never died, he still lives within our memory," the maid finished her words with a vague sentence and returned to the shadows.

"As always, you don’t make sense. What do you mean?" Erzsabet whispered in confusion but no reply came, making her more unsure of what was happening

....

...

So you might be confused about what happened in this Chapter.

Just understand that the name Nosferatu belonged to an ancient vampire who is now dead.

and taking on the name of a dead vampire requires you to take their burden, which depends on the vampire.

The usual karma stuff you understand

Well, if you don’t, just get that Valerian did something amazing, got it...

Also, his name won’t change or anything; just in official vampire records, he will be called Nosferatu.
