Leo and Snow returned home with Fragrance. They went to their rooms and fell asleep. On the way, Leo asked Fragrance if she was feeling fine, repeatedly, after all, she had just witnessed a murder.

The latter nodded her head and replied, "I am fine, you don't have to worry. I am not saying this because I am strong, but because I loved Uncle Christopher and Aunty Martha. They were among those people who gave me a feeling of family without anything in return. So, I support what you did."

That was it, she didn't judge Leo for what he did. She was almost adopted into the household before the tragedy changed the course of fate. So, for her, this was a moment of salvation, to see her brother put end to one of the culprits behind the incident.

...

Two days have passed since the break-in and abduction at the Ruby Avenue Precinct. The police chief has been replaced, and the security of the entire city was raised to the maximum level. The city administration had paid a high price and called over the special task forces from various cities to investigate the situation and scan the capital.

The entire city was being combed, and during one of these searches, the cops discovered something and they finally realized what happened to the one prisoner that was missing from the lock-ups.

After the break-in, the hustle bustle of the capital had died down to quiet an extent as the people felt they weren't safe.

The patrol officer found a sack which was placed haphazardly, next to a public dustbin in the downtown area. This place had a lot of underground activities going on under the cover of the night such as street racing, street fighting, and not to list out, the disco lights.

The not so bright area of the capital was where the patrolling teams handled most of the skirmish on a daily basis. The patrol officer saw this sack and found it odd, after all, who uses a sack of jute in this area? He neared the sack to properly place it, but when he was about to grab it, he noticed a human face outline on the sack.

The patrol officer rubbed his eyes and then took half a step back before he called for his partner to confirm what he saw the true. After fifteen minutes, the entire block was sealed, the cameras systems were being filtered, and the body was sent to the coroner's office for autopsy.

The media broadcasted the news on a breaking news segment, and Socrate Primal, who was sitting in his office, received a call in the evening, he frowned, the call came from his mansion and he picked it up as he asked, "Jacob, what is it?"

The steward on the other side replied, "Sire, a couple of policemen have come over, and they are seeking to deliver a news to you. I tried to ask them but they said that the nature of the news is a bit grave and they could only pass it on to you."

Socrate looked at the time and said, "Tell them I will contact the police chief's office and handle it, I am heading for a meeting right now."

Jacob hesitated but he still said, "Yes, Sir."

The steward knew that if he spoke out of line, he can pack his bags in the evening. Socrate surrounded himself only with those who could do his bidding and that was all. In his eyes, all the people working for him were robots, and that was how he rose to the top of the business world. He was a control freak of the highest degree.

As the steward disconnected the call, Socrate stood up from the chair, and was about to head out for the meeting when his secretary called him on the intercom. Socrate took the call on speaker, and asked, "Yes, Sally."

Sally replied, "Sir, the Hendin Corporations have asked for a delay in the meeting. There flight was delayed and they have just landed, so even if they try to make it rush, they would need an hour at the minimum."

Socrate frowned and then said, "Fine, forty-five minutes, or they can forget about this deal."

Sally responded, "Very well, Sir."

The call was disconnected and the old man walked up to the small bar he had in his office. He poured himself a drink and sat down in the couch to relax, at this moment he picked up his phone and called a number on it.

The call connected and the person said, "This is the Police Chief's office, what can I do for you?"

Socrate introduced himself, and asked if he could talk to the Chief. The receptionist took a moment, and after a few minutes, the call was connected. From the other side, a calm yet thick voice sounded, "Hello, this is Maxwell."

Socrate frowned and asked, "Maxwell? Wasn't the Police Chief of the capital, Officer Dong?"

Maxwell replied, "Chief Dong opted the retirement to spend some time with his family. I guess you are calling to confirm the reason why two of my officers went to your house?"

Socrate hummed, and Maxwell continued, "I understand that you have legally disowned your youngest child, Mister Carole Primal, however, in case we have a big issue the legal system is asked to inform the biological parents."

Socrate nodded slowly and asked, "What issue would that be?"

Maxwell replied, "It has been brought to my attention that early this morning, seven hundred hours, your son's corpse was discovered in the downtown area of the city. It was reported that he was missing after a few assailants broke into the Ruby Avenue Precinct. I am sorry for your lose, but legally you have twenty four hours after being informed to come forward and complete the proceedings. However, we have sent him to the coroners so the time limit would be extended to forty eight hours.

You have my sincere condolences, Mister Primal. I hope you stay strong in this dark hour. The department will inform you about the rest of the procedure when the coroner's report has been prepared."

Socrate appeared calm, but the glass in his hand was shivering. He said, "Thank you, I will wait for the call."

His voice was so stable that Maxwell thought he heard wrong. However, before the police chief could say anything the call was disconnected. Socrate sat in his chair, and calmly finished his drink. He raised his left hand to check the time, before he stood up and left the office. He didn't forget to look at his secretary, and said, "Cancel the meetings, and tell the Hendin people, they can fuck off."

The secretary nodded as she watched her boss storm off. Socrates got in the car, and drew out a number from a small diary. He called the number and said, "Call for a family meeting."

That was it, he said, "Take me to the old mansion."

...

The bomb had been dropped on the Primal Family, and Yelena had been watching everything from the shadows. Not only that she even did what Leo had told her last night. She contacted Dante and gave him a task. The young philanderer didn't want to go ahead with it, but when he heard that it was to harm Matilda, he agreed.

The man flew back to the Swastika nation, because he didn't have any other way to contact Matilda. At the moment, he walked through the corridor of a mini palace. This was where Matilda lived. Dante had told her that it was something important or he would not have dared to disturb her. He even said that if the news wasn't worth her concern, then she could take his head off.

Matilda was shocked to see such candor from and agreed to meet him for five minutes. When Dante reached the study room under the guidance of an old butler, the man knocked on the door, and a calm voice sounded from inside, "Come in."

The steward opened the door and said, "My Lady, Mister Dante is here."

"Send him in."

The butler nodded to Dante and held the door for him. Dante went inside and he spotted Matilda sitting on her leather chair, looking at him through her reading glasses as her golden hair cascaded down her shoulder. He didn't say it, but this woman despite the age of fifty looked like she was in her thirties.

Dante bowed a little and said, "Greetings, there is a news from the Primal Family."

Matilda raised her brow and asked, "Is this the important news kid? Do you really think I don't know about what is going on there?"

Dante sighed and said, "My lady, from what I know, Socrate Primal has been blocking the news to reach to you very hard. I have my own channels, and you can verify if what I say has any shred of doubt. Then I will surrender to you."

In his mind he was cursing the old hag but he had to play the role. Matilda nodded and said, "I am listening."

Dante said, "Last week, Socrate Primal disowned Carole Primal and ousted him from the family inheritance lineage. I thought it was a step taken to keep him safe. However, Carole was later arrested for conspiring with International Mercenaries. The assassination attempt you faced two days ago, that was organized by Carole."

Matilda raised her head to look at Dante and the latter continued, "Socrate bred him with hatred against you. He used him like a pawn in many situations and was cruel to him despite showering him with love. Carole hated you, and I have proof to back my words.

The most important thing here is, Carole was apprehended by the cops, but two days ago, some people broke into the Precinct, took Carole away, and.."

Matilda caught his hesitation and asked, "And what, Dante?"

Dante knelt on the ground as he said, "I apologize for bringing this devastating news but, the cops recovered Carole in the capital Downtown. They pronounced him dead."

He couldn't look at her directly, but from the quick steps heading his way, he knew she was lured. Matilda pulled his hair and raised his head to look at him before she asked, "Are you telling me the truth? If yes, then who did it?"

Dante replied, "I swear in the name of my mother, what I said is true, and I didn't get enough time to investigate, but it could be the people involved in the inheritance battle participants."

Matilda stood still then she closed her eyes for a long time before she said, "I see, you did good. Go and rest, I need to be alone to think about this."

Dante nodded and then he left the study with Matilda rubbing her forehead with her eyes closed. Nobody noticed but Dante was smiling inside his heart. Now the show began.
