Chapter 1240: Part 4: Fight against Ben (Inner Hall)

From MC’s Perspective:

Fighting Platform

The middle-aged man, Ben, gazes at his broadsword. His opponent, Zack, has once again dodged all of his attacks. But Ben isn’t done yet.

Things are just getting started. He swings his broadsword again. This time, the attack is faster, almost twice as swift. The flaming sword slash surges toward Zack.

From my perspective, I notice the attack’s speed has doubled. I prepare to sidestep, but the strike grazes my side.

Boom!

An explosion erupts the next second. The force feels like a powerful blast hitting my body.

Like a projectile, I’m thrown against the barrier. Despite possessing three Ancient Inheritances, my body slams hard into it.

Boom!

It happens so fast that I don’t have time to channel my blood force to block the attack.

Thud!

My body collapses to the ground. This is the first time I’ve felt such intense pain and the first time someone has injured me.

I glance at my stomach and see the cloth completely burnt away, the exposed skin red from the attack.

Gasp!

A collective exclamation rises from the crowd, so loud it hurts everyone’s ears.

“Ha… Ha… Ha…” Ben lets out joyful laughter.

He can’t believe his eyes. Zack Lockwood is hurt and by his attack, no less. He’s finally landed a blow on Zack.

Issac and the female warrior are stunned, their faces filled with surprise. Just a moment ago, they thought Zack was untouchable, staying defensive.

But in the next second, Zack is struck by the flame attack. They see Ben laughing loudly. For a moment, Issac believes he, too, could defeat Zack Lockwood.

The female warrior recovers, a smile spreading across her face. She can’t wait to face Zack Lockwood herself.

The referee Elder is equally shocked. He never expected Zack to be hit. It’s my first.

The audience remains in disbelief, unable to process what’s unfolding before them. Zack has been struck by an opponent for the first time.

On the large screen, everyone can see the injury on Zack’s side. It’s clear Zack Lockwood is wounded.

Apart from the Blazing Fire Faction, warriors from the other Elemental Factions cheer loudly.

Even the Bloodline Warriors are stunned. Zack Lockwood, hurt by an opponent? They begin to believe they could defeat him, too.

Warriors from the Dark Variant Faction are present as well. They came to watch the duel with no expectations, but what they witnessed leaves them dumbfounded.

No warrior from their faction has ever defeated Zack. Yet someone from the Blazing Fire Faction has done it.

Some Dark Variant Faction warriors start to regret not challenging Zack themselves. If they had, one of them might be facing Zack on the fighting platform right now.

Viewing Block 1

The faction leaders are in shock. They see Zack’s injury and the damage to his side.

“This kid,” Old Man Clifford mutters with worry.

Even Faction Leader Elmer is dumbfounded. He anticipated many outcomes, but not this one, Zack was injured by a warrior from his own faction.

He should feel proud, but instead, he senses something is wrong with Zack Lockwood.

He turns to the Thunderflame Faction Leader and asks, “Faction Leader Clifford, what’s wrong with Zack?”

At that, the other faction leaders’ gazes shift to Zack Lockwood.

Clifford regained his composure and said in a serious tone, “I don’t know.”

Gasp!

The faction leaders were shocked by his words. But Old Man Clifford realized that the kid didn’t want to reveal his inheritance power.

As they were talking, on the fighting platform, Ben launched similar strikes, injuring Zack Lockwood further.

Faction Leader Elmer narrowed his eyes. He was far from pleased.

Unlike the other faction leaders, he held no resentment toward Zack.

His faction warriors were always the ones provoking the kid, so he had a favorable opinion of him, especially since Zack was highly talented.

Now, seeing the kid injured for the first time, Elmer suspected Zack was doing it deliberately. So far, Zack hadn’t used his inheritance power.

According to all the faction leaders and Dean Jerome, Zack possessed Ancient Inheritance. He could have used it to block the attack.

The Ancient Inheritance powers would likely cancel each other out. But the main question remained: Why wasn’t Zack using it?

Faction Leader Francesca was worried. She, too, realized Zack was willing to lose the duel rather than use his inheritance power.

“That’s it?” Bethany commented from the side. “What’s happened to this kid?”

Her eyes were filled with disappointment. Though she had criticized Zack for some time, she never doubted his strength.

That’s why she had organized a small competition within her own faction to select powerful bloodline warriors.

She believed her top three warriors were stronger than those of the Blazing Fire Faction. Even Francesca had acknowledged this.

Yet, here was Zack, being injured by a weaker warrior. She didn’t know what to say.

At that moment, one person was particularly frustrated, Faction Leader Vince. He had hoped to uncover Zack Lockwood’s Ancient Inheritance.

But Zack surprised him by getting beaten by his opponent.

“Last time, Zack used his inheritance power to win the duel at the last moment. But today, he’s not using it at all,” Vince said. “This kid simply wants to lose the duel and walk away.”

His words sparked a commotion.

“Yes, I thought so too. Why isn’t he using his inheritance power? If he did, he could win the duel,” Faction Leader Monica said suddenly.

Her words fueled arguments among the other Elemental Faction Leaders.

No one defended Zack except Thunderflame Faction Leader Clifford, who remained silent, his gaze fixed on the fighting platform.

Above the fighting platform, Dean Jerome and the Purple Mark Guard watched as Zack was beaten by his opponent.

“Well, this is a surprise,” Jerome remarked.

His expression remained neutral, showing neither happiness nor sadness.

“I don’t know what the kid is thinking. I’d love to look into his mind,” the Purple Mark Guard commented.

They, too, saw that Zack Lockwood was being defeated.
