CHAPTER 474: A STELLAR’S AURA

Sera’s golden-green eyes stared at the battlefield below with unnatural hunger. The angels and demons slaughtered each other while killing and destroying everything, which came between them and their prey.

The unprecedented collective extermination, which both races inflicted on each other, made Sera jealous. She wanted to join in their fun and kill everyone down below.

However, for now, she needed to hold position. Her entire body shook with anticipation, yet she controlled her desires and stayed floating high above.

She ordered Faith to rescue the civilians from the war zone, so she could unleash her full power without worrying... Well, she wouldn’t worry in her bloodlusted state. She would only feel sad and guilty afterward...

The Last Angel felt her Shadow appear across Rome, carrying people to safety, saving their lives from their own Goddess. It would still take a minute or two, which meant Sera needed to hold her bloodlust.

Her eyes moved towards the sea, where a giant vessel approached Rome. Sera didn’t know the ship’s origin, but she knew it wasn’t a threat, because of the familiar presence. She felt Bea’s soul burning bright deep within the vessel.

A wide smile spread across Sera’s lips as the bright red bloodlust lessened in her eyes, if only for a moment.

"We’ll meet again soon..." She whispered, while her vision moved away from the ship, back to Rome.

The smile disappeared from Sera’s face, leaving nothing but a deep scowl. A tiny growl reverberated inside her throat as she gazed upon the two powerful forms’ duel.

The trembling in her body grew stronger as her bloodshot eyes stared at their fight with eagerness. She wanted to join their fight, but Faith still hadn’t given her the signal, so she held back.

It took all her strength and will to hold back the bloodlust. All her makeshift clothes, which Faith gave her, already dripped from the rivers of sweat her skin continuously expelled. It salty liquid burned her eyes, but she couldn’t wipe it away.

Any slight movement of her body would’ve caused the minuscule control to break. Instead, she suffered the burning in her eyes, withstanding the pain for the sake of her people.

Moments crawled by as Sera awaited her time to release all inhibitions. Her wings beat the air, keeping her afloat, while she continued staring hungrily at the fight below.

Suddenly, while her mind got consumed by bloodlust, a form walked out of Sera’s shadow. Faith stood before her Goddess with an emotionless expression. She nodded once, dismantling the hold on Sera’s body.

Her golden-green eyes went wide, then the blood-redness fully absorbed her vision. The Last Angel’s lips twisted into a scary smile, while Faith stepped back into the shadows.

The air warmed up around Sera as she burst into golden flames. The leather clothing quickly melted, but her brightly glowing skin hid her perfect form.

The feathered white wings snapped close to her body. The Angel’s rapid descent began towards the powerful duelling forms.

A wide smile split her face as a giggle escaped her lips. A pair of silvery gauntlets appeared in her hands as her velocity continued growing.

A trail of burning golden embers floated as she passed through the air faster than possible. She went past terminal velocity by increasing the weight of her gauntlets and beating her wings in small but rapid motions.

Two more pairs of wings grew from her back. One made of the same golden flames as glowed all over her body. The other, from Angelic Metal, with each silver feather weighing about a ton.

The sudden increase in weight propelled Sera even faster towards the ground. With the burning golden trail combined with her glowing white body, she truly looked like a comet aimed at the middle of Rome.

Below her, both Peace and War stopped fighting. In fact, everybody stopped moving as their eyes turned towards the sky. The comet’s speed continued increasing, clearly aimed at the Stellars.

Before the meteor reached them, they both heard the sound of laughter, and for reasons unknown, the voice sent shivers down their spines.

Both Peace and War turned away from the bright light as Sera’s body hit the ground with enough force to level Rome. However, strange shadow barriers protected the civilians and soldiers, saving their lives.

Across the still-surviving part of the city, dozens of giant Gateways opened, leading towards the Old Dawn. Vicky’s voice resounded through smaller portals, ordering the civilians and soldiers to evacuate.

The Princess sounded happy, which made many people confused. But when she informed the citizens about their Goddess’s presence, the morale quickly improved too.

Back on the battlefield, a pure white explosion spread through Rome, killing every angel and demon in its proximity. The buildings melted or evaporated, leaving a giant pit of lava, which further warmed the air.

War and Peace floated above the crater, watching the strange woman below with intrigue. Their weapons went back to normal, and they stood side-by-side without even a hint of hostility.

From the lake of lava below, Sera’s head popped out. She shook off the few thousand degree molten concrete and metal from her golden hair. Her body didn’t show any damage, and judging by her face, she actually enjoyed the ’warm bath’.

Her bloodshot eyes snapped up towards Peace’s light blue and War’s blood-red ones. The Stellars stared back, still curious about the woman’s identity. However, their eyes narrowed a moment later, as a pair of white-feathered wings appeared behind Sera’s back.

She floated above the lake while maintaining constant eye contact with her adversaries. Molten rock dripped from her perfect, naked body.

These wings weren’t like the other angels’ flying nearby. They were the purest white, a color impossible to recreate, but they also carried an undertone of fear. Even Peace’s own didn’t come close in terms of purity.

However, what truly surprised both Peace and War was the second pair of wings. Made of cleansing golden flames, burning hotter than the lava below.

The golden flames spread across Sera’s body, hiding her nakedness, while also empowering her growing aura.

The third pair of wings soon appeared, and this time Peace spoke in surprise...

"Divine Metal? That’s impossible! Only Aerin had that metal!"

The silvery metallic wings spread wide behind Sera’s back. While her lips twisted into a wicked smile. Even though her body was ready to attack, she held herself back, since it seemed she could gain more information from these knights about Aerin.

"Who’re you and what’re you doing inside my city?" Subtlety wasn’t bloodlusted Sera’s strong suit, but being blunt and rude made sense in her mind.

War and Peace glanced at each other, their glowing eyes widening in amusement.

"Well, I’m a demonic being called War. While she’s an angelic being called Peace. Now introduce yourself, since nobody should have wings like yours in any Realm. All the real Angels are extinct!"

The demonic knight’s words only increased Sera’s curiosity, but the bloodlust began overtaking her body, and she could barely hold herself back from attacking.

"I guess the long sleep rotted your mind then, or have you forgotten why all of you came to Earth in the first place? Have you forgotten Rehael’s Prophecy?"

Peace and War’s eyes both went wide as a scary grin spread across Sera’s face. Her pure, white-feathered wings spread, and large, disturbing eyes stared out at the Stellars.

Further recognition ignited in both their eyes. Only one Angel in history had eyes on their wings, which meant...

"The Angel of Despair. You killed him?! One of the Knights of Fate? You absorbed his soul?... Those golden flames, a phoenix? But what about the third? Nobody could control Divine Metals in the past... Where did you get those powers?"

Sera wasn’t planning on answering Peace’s questions. Instead, she let her aura grow stronger, reaching something akin to a weak Stellar’s. However, her presence was enough to dwarf the other two’s own auras.

She opened her eyes wide, revealing the golden-green below the bloodshot veins. A gentle breeze passed between Sera and her enemies, carrying the smell of nature.

"No fucking way... There’s a World Tree growing inside her soul... What the fuck is this monster?!"

The Last Angel took War’s words as a compliment. She finally let go of all inhibitions, letting her aura run wild.

There’s an inherent difference between human Stellars and Stellars from other races. Human Stellars usually have a mix of multiple races in their bloods, making them impure but also very versatile.

However, there’s an ability pureblooded races unlock after reaching Stellar Rank. Their aura becomes something tangible instead of a weak power, which affects people in a large area.

The golden flames and bright glow grew around Sera’s body as she unleashed all her aura. A wave of flame expanded from her body in every direction for a few hundred meters.

Peace and War backed further away as they heard Sera’s loud voice echoing across the battlefield.

"You’re curious about how I acquired this power? That’s easy; I just killed myself! You also asked about my identity..."

The golden flames and white light formed a giant humanoid creature. Sera’s body proportions stayed true to her actual size, but instead of her usual 1.8 meter tall body, her new form stood over a kilometer tall.

Behind her back, the white-feathered, golden-flamed and silvery-metallic wings all appeared, but their positions changed, moving higher and leaving space below the Angelic Metal wings.

There, a fourth, much fainter wing appeared, with no obvious structure or material composition. It wasn’t a real wing, just a placeholder, marking how close Sera’s power was to an actual Stellar.

Deep within her avatar’s chest, a greenish glow appeared, which spread across the gigantic Sera like veins. Her aura further increased, while the enormous Angel stared at Peace and War with amusement.

"...I’m Seraphine, the Last Angel! Now feel my wrath!"
