Animeverse Kitchen: My Culinary Journey Begins with Glowing Food!
Chapter 206 206: The Coffin Floating in from the Sea!
The hot sun poured down on the soft sand, and the azure waves rolled in, layer by layer, carrying a silver, shimmering light.
In the shade of the canopy tent, Jiru took a bite of a chilled watermelon slice. The sweet juice instantly washed away the summer heat. She squinted in enjoyment and looked at Jashin-chan opposite her. "I heard you peed in the ocean, Jashin-chan?"
"What do you think?" Jashin-chan grinned, a mischievous smile on her face.
Jiru teased, "Stop doing such stupid things. Try to be a little more like a girl."
"Shut up! It's none of your business! Take this! Watermelon Seed Machine Gun!"
Being lectured by a kid made Jashin-chan extremely unhappy. She lowered her head, sucked up a mouthful of seeds, and then aimed at Jiru, spitting them out in a pfft-pfft-pfft barrage. It was practically a magical attack!
"Waah—!" Minos shrieked, grabbing her watermelon and dodging to the side. Jiru yelped and turned her back, shielding her own slice from contamination.
"That's so gross!" Poporon shot Jashin-chan a look of disgust.
Splat.
Just then, a black watermelon seed stuck to Yurine's face. Yurine's expression instantly darkened, and a low-pressure aura began to emanate from her.
"Er..." Jashin-chan froze, staring at Yurine, who had been caught in the crossfire. She swallowed hard, her voice weak. "Is it too late to apologize?"
"Pfft—!" Ryohei Tanaka burst out laughing. He looked at Jashin-chan, amused. "Your survival instinct is that strong now?" He then glanced at Yurine and added with a smile, "It's probably too late."
"..." Yurine gave Ryohei a speechless look. She stood up, walked over to Jashin-chan, and placed a hand on her shoulder, her face grim. She plucked the seed from her cheek. "How about we try to grow a watermelon inside your body using this seed?"
As she spoke, her eyes darted around, as if she were trying to decide where to make an opening to insert the seed.
"Calm down, Yurine! My body can't grow watermelons!" Jashin-chan was terrified by Yurine's words and shrieked in panic.
Pino watched from the side, amazed. This demon is actually this scared? Unbelievable!
"Really? I don't believe you." Yurine looked down at Jashin-chan, her face devoid of emotion. "Let me try. A watermelon that absorbs your nutrients would definitely be delicious. I guarantee it!"
"Eeeek—!"
'I can't take it! There's a psycho here!' Jashin-chan lost it, scrambling away in a panic.
Yurine tossed the seed aside and clicked her tongue, muttering, "This idiot. Give her an inch, and she'll take a mile." With that, she returned to her spot and continued eating her watermelon.
Ryohei turned to look at her, smiling. "True. She got my girlfriend dirty. I kind of want to hit her, too."
"Oh, stop it." Yurine shot Ryohei a look and nudged him with her shoulder.
Over on the shore, Jashin-chan was wading into the waves, planning to go for a swim, when she suddenly spotted a large object floating toward her.
She squinted, looked closer, and was stunned. "It's a coffin!"
Feeling it was a bad omen, Jashin-chan immediately retreated to the beach. After a moment, she ran back to the canopy tent to complain. "This place sucks! It's not as good as the last one... There's a coffin floating in the sea! What bad luck!"
'A coffin?'
'Jiang Jiang?'
Hearing this, Ryohei Tanaka immediately thought of the zombie sisters. He looked with great interest in the direction Jashin-chan had come from. Sure enough, he saw something being carried toward the shore by the waves.
"What nonsense are you talking about? How could there be a coffin in the sea?" Yurine looked up at Jashin-chan, skeptical. The whole thing sounded ridiculous. Who would put a coffin in the ocean these days? For a sea burial?
Besides, they were in Okinawa. At this time of year, the place was packed. If a coffin were floating in the sea, someone would have called the police by now.
"Who's talking nonsense? See for yourself!" Jashin-chan was annoyed that Yurine didn't believe her. She turned and pointed.
Just then, a wave pushed the coffin onto the beach. Jashin-chan's voice grew louder. "Look, look! If that's not a coffin, what is it?"
"Whoa... it really is a coffin!" Poporon followed Jashin-chan's finger, a look of surprise on her face.
Pekola asked, "Why is there a coffin in the sea?"
'How unlucky!' Pino thought.
"..."
"Ryohei-kun, should we call the police?" Yurine, holding a black parasol, walked up to the coffin and looked back at Ryohei, waiting for his decision.
Lucoa lifted the eyelid of her left eye and held up two fingers. "There are two presences inside the coffin."
"Eh? You mean there are people inside?" Minos asked, surprised.
Lucoa, cupping her ample chest, smiled. "I didn't say they were people."
Knock, knock!
Having heard the exchange, Jiru raised her hand and knocked on the coffin lid, tentatively calling out, "Hello—!"
Before she could finish, with a loud BANG, the coffin lid exploded into flying pieces of wood.
Accompanied by the crisp sound of bells, a dark figure burst from the coffin, landed in front of Jashin-chan, and grabbed her by the shoulders.
"S-so strong!"
Jashin-chan was shocked. The moment she was grabbed, the force pushed her legs deep into the sand, making her suddenly much shorter. 'This strength is ridiculous!' Jashin-chan's eyes went wide. She instinctively grabbed her attacker's hands, trying to pry them off, but she couldn't.
By now, she had a clear look at her attacker. It was a girl with bluish-purple hair tied into buns with two red, bell-adorned ribbons. She wore strange clothes and a small, odd hat. She seemed to be in a frenzy, glaring at Jashin-chan fiercely and making "Awooo, awooo" sounds.
"Damn it! Let me go!" Jashin-chan angrily balled her fists and punched the girl's stomach. Thud, thud! This seemed to enrage her attacker.
"I bite!" (in Chinese)
Jiang Jiang opened her mouth wide, lowered her head, and bit Jashin-chan on the neck, sucking greedily at her blood.
"Ow, that hurts—!" Jashin-chan screamed. "Stop it! Who knows what kind of diseases I'll get from being bitten by a monster like you!"
"Jashin-chan..." Medusa watched, her face full of anxiety.
Pino was shocked again. This demon has no resistance at all! She quickly backed away to avoid being attacked.
"Bwahahaha—! She actually said, 'Who knows what kind of diseases I'll get'! That's hilarious!"
Jashin-chan's words seemed to have hit Yurine's funny bone. She covered her mouth but couldn't hold back, bursting into laughter. Jiru, infected by her laughter, also started laughing heartily. Kōji stood nearby, grinning.
"Stop laughing! Hurry up and help me!" Jashin-chan was losing it. Was this really the time to be laughing at her? So unreliable.
But there was someone reliable. Minos was always ready to jump in. She immediately ran over, shouting, "Hey—! Let go of Jashin-chan!"
Hearing this, Jiang Jiang immediately turned her head, dropped the now-drained Jashin-chan, and charged at Minos...
