CHAPTER 789: UNKNOWN FOOD

"Father?!" The waitress widened her eyes in shock.

Clovis and Dnanta remained silent as they were staring at each other. Clovis ultimately nodded his head. "Sure."

Dnanta smiled. "Thank you. In that case, Rin. Open it."

"Father?" Rin was still confused. Why would her father do something like this? It was clear that it was just something they could find at any supermarket. Even if this was a product that had never been seen before, they should still be able to identify it.

Hence, she couldn’t understand her father’s decision.

However, the confusion instantly vanished the moment she opened it. The air inside the bag gushed out and seeped into her nose.

"This is..." Rin widened her eyes in shock. "This should be a chicken nugget, but something is weird. I can smell a snake from it? Is this a genetically modified chicken?"

"No." Dnanta smiled while closing his eyes as though he had admitted his defeat. "It is from one species. It is not genetically engineered or even a chimera. It’s something that it was born with. In other words, this is the same as any beasts we can find in the wild."

"!!!" Rin widened her eyes in shock. She simply couldn’t believe what her father was saying. Although her father was a Tier 8, he wasn’t someone who would be afraid of a Tier 9 human.

So, the Hacfield family’s name was useless in front of him. And if they were talking about food, her father wouldn’t hesitate to tell the truth.

Even she didn’t know how many times her father had said, ’Disgusting,’ to the food she made.

Clovis remained calm. Normally, it would have been all right for Clovis to get pissed. Even though he came here alone, he was still the heir of the Hacfield family. Suspecting his decision even before testing it was an insult to his identity.

Yet, Clovis acted as if he hadn’t heard about all the outbursts.

Instead, he focused on the current matter at hand, which was the reason he had come here in the first place. "So, may I know the verdict? What kind of meat is this?"

"That’s..." Rin looked down, unable to answer his question. It was something she had never seen before.

She had been following her father ever since she was born and had entered the kitchen since she was 5 years old. Even with almost two decades of experience, she couldn’t figure out what kind of meat it was.

There was no beast she could think of. Even more surprising was that her father didn’t know either.

"It looks like I have to admit defeat." Dnanta smiled happily, his desire for more knowledge coming out of his body. "May I know what kind of meat this is?"

Clovis chuckled. "In that competition, there’s no rule that states I have to reveal the name, no?"

"You..." Rin bit her lips.

Dnanta let out a long sigh before lowering his head. "I would like to formally apologize for my daughter’s impoliteness. She has reacted too excessively."

"Father..." Rin didn’t expect her father would lower his head. Even though her father was a humble man, he rarely lowered his head. Even after watching him for almost twenty years, her fingers could still count how many times her father lowered her head. Yet, Clovis became one of those people.

Each of those people was supposed to be someone he regarded highly. Even their status was high. Then again, Clovis was the successor of the Hacfield family. It looked like her father apologized for her behavior so that the Hacfield family wouldn’t enter this problem.

Little did she know, her father’s love of food was simply beyond her imagination. He revealed it after Clovis accepted his apology. "Still, I finally understand where your confidence comes from. I guess I might end up in bankruptcy soon."

"Ah!" Rin, who had no choice but to lower her head as she followed her father’s action, abruptly raised her head again, almost forgetting about Clovis’s statement. That was right. Clovis claimed he could bankrupt him through the challenge.

Dnanta smiled, thinking, ’Well. This is indeed the first time I’ve faced such an opponent. A chicken and a snake together. If there’s a method that can combine two species that is not known to this world, he can combine so many beasts and challenge me again and again.

’His mother, Aisha Hacfield, is someone who has that potential. Besides, I’ve heard about the beast essence liquid that has been popularized by his girlfriend. So, the potential of him being able to do that is quite high.

’The problem is that even though this meat is indeed chicken, it’s a chicken I have never seen before. Just looking at this meat, I can see that the chicken is extremely strong. It might be a beast.

’It is a species that has never been seen before... even before modifying that very chicken.’

Dnanta thought for a moment before extending his Skyphone. "How about I transfer the money first?"

"Well, we can do that later." Clovis smiled. "I’m going to return tonight for dinner. How about I give you this bag?"

"!!!" Dnanta was surprised. "Are you sure?"

"If you feel guilty, how about cooking something using this ingredient tonight? Maybe, tonight, I can bring something for breakfast and so on. I’m going to stay here for several days anyway." Clovis smirked.

How could he not take advantage of this chance? Dnanta offered 10,000,000 per ingredient. If he just came here to eat three times a day, he could get 900,000,000 union dollars in a month.

It was a chance for easy money. Of course, it wouldn’t be a month, but he could simply introduce a few ingredients at the same time.

There was no way he would let this chance pass. In addition, he was quite curious about what a chef of his level was going to make with his ingredients.

Surprisingly, Dnanta offered, "How about I let my daughter cook for you to apologize for her rude remark earlier?"

"Hmmmm?" Clovis frowned, not because he cared about the matter from earlier, but because he just wanted the best food.

Dnanta raised one finger. "If it’s not up to your standard, of course, I shall cook it for you for free."

Clovis closed his eyes for a few seconds, contemplating the offer. "Fine. Let’s do it that way."
