CHAPTER 294: CHAPTER 294 VICTORY AND DEATH

The elder yawned as several females gently massaged his shoulders.

"When were they supposed to be back?"

"Three hours ago."

"Why didn’t anyone wake me up earlier?!"

"They tried. You ordered the guards not to let anyone in, so they had to break in to wake you."

"...What’s the casualty situation?"

"340 knights and three mages."

"Three mages?! Why did you send those vampires, you fool?!" the elder roared.

"If I hadn’t sent them, we would have lost at least a thousand knights." The reptile responded calmly.

One of the women shot a lightning bolt at him, but the lizard easily dodged it.

He managed to survive because he was always prepared to deal with attacks.

"You little lizard react pretty quickly... Fine, even if we lost a thousand knights, so what? A bunch of peasants died, it’s no big deal!

But if vampires die... They’ll tear us apart for that!"

"But sir, if all the peasants are dead, who will attack the enemy’s ark?"

"... How are our troops progressing?"

"... I just told you, they’re not back yet."

"What are the enemies doing now?"

"Nothing."

"What do you mean? Oh, yes... Because we’re invisible! Luckily I could buy the flesh and blood of space-time demons! Hehe! They can’t see or detect us! At least, not for the next two days..."

The half-buried old fellow muttered as six beautiful women were dressing him.

"Tell the general to prepare, I’ll have some tea, then we’ll commence the attack."

"Yes, sir!"

~~~~~~
Two hours later, it was early morning at the Shelter.
The sun had risen, and everyone was waiting to battle the enemy.
Lin Yi was calmly having breakfast, complaining.
"What’s taking them so long?!"
"Maybe they’re having breakfast too," suggested the usually taciturn Katsya.
She was dressed in a white outfit, including a shirt, jacket, and tight pencil skirt.
She looked like a sexy pop singer, capable of driving all men crazy.
"That doesn’t make sense! They’re giving us more time to prepare for their attack! Only fools let this happen. They might be up to some sneaky plan."
Lin Yi replied, and Solomon agreed.
~~~~~~

"Ah... Ah... Achoo!"

The elder sneezed, sending his false teeth flying out of his mouth, which were caught in mid-air by a woman who kissed them before putting them back.

"Thank you, Lulu, but why do I feel like I’ve forgotten something?"

"Sir!" A huge lizard head peeked from under the table.

One of the girls immediately shot an ice arrow at the lizard, but it swiftly retreated beneath the table.

"We were supposed to attack the enemy’s ark two hours ago, sir, but you haven’t finished your tea yet..."

A voice from under the table said, "The general is very angry."

"Ark? What ark? Oh... Haven’t we attacked yet? You fool! Order the troops to attack immediately! I don’t care how angry the vampire is!"

"Sir, our ark hasn’t docked with the enemy’s ark yet, we can’t attack." The lizard calmly replied, dodging a sharp rock emerging from the ground that smashed through the table.

"Can’t you figure something out yourself?!" The elder grumbled, standing up from the table.

"Take me to the beacon, Lulu."

"Alright, dear."

Wings sprouted from the woman’s back, more like bat wings than bird wings.

She grabbed the elder and flew to the tower.

A while later, the elder entered a device resembling a space-time beacon.

As he floated in the Sea of Space-Time, the elder piloted his ark, shrouded in a black mist, towards the glittering ark.

The Shelter Ark was almost the target of all the great races and major forces in the area.

One minute passed, and the two arks connected.

Having already used a spell to scout the enemy’s ark, the elder docked from the north.

The two arks slightly trembled.

The fog wall dissipated.

A vast army of warriors in metal armor roared under the general’s command, flooding into the enemy’s ark.

The ark they were attacking was many times larger than their own and blocked by a huge wall.

The troops hesitated at first, but they had powerful and fearsome mages accompanying them!

They also had a third unit composed of knights riding various flying creatures.

Their shields glowed brilliantly, and each infantry team, consisting of 500 knights and several dozen mages, was protected by an indestructible dome.

Twelve such teams formed a perfect formation, marching towards the towering wall in front of them.

They were filled with courage and determination.

They were the greatest knights of the Argonan Kingdom, proudest and never defeated!

In front of them, a thousand creatures marched, all of them with gigantic body types, at least two meters tall.

Their appearances were not frightening, but rather comical. One creature had a hoofed leg hanging from its chest.

Another creature had three human heads and a frog’s head, as if someone randomly assembled a heap of body parts.

Most of the monsters were equipped with metal armor and simple weapons.

When they saw the steel wall at the border, the best idea they could come up with was to use sticks to beat the wall.

However... this reinforced wall was so sturdy, they had no chance of breaking through.

These creatures began to attempt to climb the wall, but their clumsy efforts saw them continuously slipping and falling...

Their peculiar vanguard was slow, dragging down the advance of the entire army.

"What’s going on? Why can’t these Chimeras even break through such a thin barrier?"

"Could this wall have been enchanted?" The mages contemplated while observing.

But their calm thoughts were quickly interrupted, as an explosion suddenly happened close to their squad.

"What’s going on? Is this a magical attack? But I didn’t see any spell or anything like that."

"They threw something at us. I saw something falling from the sky!" A mage shouted, covering his ears.

The knights were all stunned.

Some were disoriented from the blast, while others, despite their padded helmets, had their eardrums burst.

Before they could recover, something else fell from the sky, right into the center of their squad where the mages were positioned.

This powerful explosion turned more than half of the warriors into blood and flesh.

The remaining ones scattered in retreat.

Other squads, realizing they might face the same fate, ran towards the wall, desperately trying to climb up...

But at that moment, hundreds of fully armed men suddenly appeared at a distance of fifty meters from the steel wall, using weapons they had never seen before to attack the knights.

The warriors trying to climb the wall were utterly unprepared for such an assault, as they had left their formation without any barrier protecting them.

After a deafening roar, came the cries of agony and struggles before death.

Blood flowed freely!

The knights fell from the walls, retreating back to their formations and behind their barriers.

But the attackers then began shooting arrows.

Under the commander’s orders, the knights raised their shields overhead, trying to protect the mages with them.

However... the first arrow hit the barrier, exploding like a second-level fireball technique, followed by countless similarly explosive arrows...

Cracks began to form in the barrier, eventually shattering it.

The knights had only their flesh and armor left to protect themselves.

But the rain of arrows continued to fall unceasingly...

The mages didn’t sit idly by.

They erected earth walls, water walls, and fire walls, absorbing most of the arrows.

Several mages conjured gusts of wind to blow the arrows away or let them harmlessly fall to the ground.

The rear squads, out of attack range, began preparing a special surprise.

The sky began to turn red.

Thunder roared, and fireballs rained down on the battlefield, bombing the defenders’ positions, but...

The defenders suddenly vanished.

Hundreds of destructive explosions shook the battlefield!

Even the heaviest of tanks wouldn’t survive such a fierce bombardment.

The unharmed shelter soldiers quickly reappeared on the wall.

The battlefield before them was a sea of fire, the earth trembling, explosions had not ceased, continuously throwing massive amounts of soil and dust into the air.

This magic couldn’t distinguish friend from foe, so it destroyed everything in sight.

The mages, upon seeing the sky turn red, knew there could be collateral damage, so they began creating additional barriers to enhance the knights’ defense, or directly used their bodies to protect them from the fireball damage.

One squad was hit by over a dozen fireballs. Their barrier resisted the attack, but half the mages depleted all their magic value and eventually fainted.

The knights had only their barrier left, and that barrier was teetering.

"No retreat! Prepare to assault the walls fiercely! Leave nothing behind! For Argon’s glory!"

The general roared from the rear.

His voice thundered, clearly audible atop the walls of the shelter.

This great warrior had slain thousands of enemies, had personally beheaded many Lords of Space-Time, and was the heir of a great clan.

His mere presence was enough to inspire the knights to fight with everything they had.

A large group of mages behind the general gathered in a circle, beginning to chant a spell.

In the center of the circle was a pile of Energy Cores, gradually turning to dust.

The sky turned red again, but this time the target was the steel wall.

Facing such a large-scale magical assault, the wall could not withstand, neither could the surviving Chimeras; their army was shattered by the defenders and two magical attacks.

Several hundred meters of steel wall were completely destroyed, paving a path for the surviving Chimeras, followed by the knight squads protected by barriers.

The knights who had lost their barriers also charged into battle.

Retreat was impossible—

Victory or death!
