Apocalypse: Hero of Potato Fields
Chapter 315 Destroyed Camp
CHAPTER 315: CHAPTER 315 DESTROYED CAMP
Inside the Shelter.
Lin Yi decided to take it easy for a while.
He hadn’t been fishing in a long time, so he changed clothes, grabbed his fishing rod, and headed to the lake.
The Shelter was getting busier each day.
Vehicles were starting to appear on the roads.
Currently, there were only some buses and patrol cars, but the Shelter was continually expanding and developing.
When people saw the boss, they all greeted him, trying in every way to show their support,
but there were so many people that Lin Yi quickly regretted deciding to walk.
The lake was larger now, offering more spots for fishing, and more people were fishing there.
He saw some familiar faces, as well as many new ones, including several aliens.
He noticed a Beastman engrossed in fishing.
Next to him was a large bucket, with some fish tails sticking out of it. He had obviously caught quite a few fish, but showed no signs of stopping.
Nearby the Taru people were a group of Argonian people, including two Knights and their families.
They tried to remain quiet, so as not to disturb the intimidating-looking Beastman.
About 200 yards to Lin Yi’s right was a group of Catwomen playing in the water, diving and catching fish.
They usually attracted a lot of attention because they were all quite charming, and the girls were having fun.
Lin Yi thought perhaps he could level them up, but quickly dismissed the idea.
What if they ended up being as big as buffaloes? Maybe he could level up a few and see what happens.
It was a beautiful night, and fishermen were catching fish continuously.
But something felt missing... diversity.
"I’d like to have a barracuda or a bass... but we need a different lake... and where do I get these fish from? Also... why do I feel like I’ve forgotten something?"
Lin Yi opened his to-do list on the phone,
he hadn’t talked to that snake yet, and neither had he dealt with the Leviathan Core issue... but...
He planned to relax for a bit first.
Time passed.
The artificial sun began to set behind the misty walls, and the Shelter soon darkened.
The Catwomen finished swimming and had eaten fresh fish, but a good spot is always a good spot.
Before long, some First Level Faru people appeared and held a small gathering, flying and playing over the water, having a good time.
These little guys brought vegetables, insects, and wine.
After catching his 50th fish, Lin Yi was ready to leave when he saw Chen Youyou and her sister.
"Why aren’t you asleep yet?"
"She can’t sleep," Chen Youyou replied with a smile. Lin Yi smiled back.
"Want to fish, little one?" the boss asked the six-year-old girl.
"Of course I do!" the little girl answered happily.
For the next hour, Lin Yi helped the girl fish, while her sister sat nearby.
They chatted cheerfully.
Chen Lingling caught a particularly stubborn salmon that almost pulled her into the water.
"Maybe it’s time for us to head back, boss."
"I’m a bit sleepy too," Lin Yi yawned a reply, "Shall I teleport?"
"Sure thing, boss!"
Lin Yi teleported them back and started heading home.
On the way, he changed his mind and decided to stroll through the leisure area. His route passed through the park.
The square was beautiful at night.
The lighting was good, though they intentionally left some areas dimmer.
A lot of the teenagers and young people at the Shelter would often gather there.
These private areas were also frequented by couples, including non-human couples.
When Lin Yi reached the merchants’ stalls, he grabbed a handful of delicious snacks.
He even tried some pickled silk spiders.
To Lin Yi’s surprise, they tasted quite good. There were a variety of pickling ingredients, made from fruits, mushrooms, and even tree sap.
As people saw the boss munching on spiders, more and more people started to take an interest in this delicacy. But they did look quite frightening...
In the evening, a large number of chefs gathered in the leisure area to promote their hometown dishes.
There were even a few female Taru present.
But the most surprising sight was the Taru Warriors’ Commander, Terma.
This warrior was making... burgers.
He had become a huge fan of burgers.
He was making fish burgers, chicken burgers, and rabbit burgers, and had started making lamb burgers too.
The sheep hadn’t produced any lambs yet, so the lamb burgers were not available in the stores.
But Lin Yi had allowed the butcher to slaughter the old rams and ewes that definitely wouldn’t breed anymore.
After eating his fill, Lin Yi went to listen to music.
Katsya’s concert was performing rock songs.
She sang remarkably well; watching her perform and listening to her sing was a delight.
If not for the apocalypse, she could have become an international superstar.
To Lin Yi’s surprise, he spotted Azarus at the concert, surrounded by his women.
They were all dressed in the Shelter’s civilian clothes, looking like they were having a great time.
This rejuvenated old man seemed to have been reborn, laughing and fully enjoying himself.
His girlfriends were happy too.
The days of oppression under the vampires, which lasted for decades, were finally over, and they were free at last.
They could do anything they wanted, no longer needing to fight or live in fear.
Chen Youyou found suitable jobs for all of them.
As the Shelter developed, more and more types of jobs emerged, not just fighting and farming.
For example, the girl with wings who could transform into a terrifying monster, Lulu Lu, became a nurse and hoped to become a Doctor one day.
Azarus’s translucent girlfriend found a job dealing with animals.
For some reason that other women in the Shelter couldn’t understand, she really liked the Xidi beasts.
Another interesting sight was Peter, who was enjoying a concert with two middle-aged men.
They clapped and whistled to express their appreciation for Katsya’s performance.
"They integrated so quickly! It’s not even a day yet," Lin Yi thought as he looked at the audience.
He didn’t see any other familiar faces.
But his gaze was quickly drawn to a female Child of the Sun.
The Children of the Sun were very afraid of the dark, so they usually hurried home as soon as the sun began to set, but this one was clapping, enjoying the performance.
She didn’t have a translator, so she couldn’t understand what Katsya was singing, but that didn’t stop her from enjoying the music.
And this atmosphere... she enjoyed it a lot as well.
After the concert, Lin Yi slowly went home.
He was in a great mood, but he couldn’t stop yawning, and as soon as his head touched the pillow, he fell asleep instantly.
~~~~~~
Tilian Planet.
A squad of a hundred Mechanical Beasts was fighting over thirty Zombies led by mutants.
The battle was intense but also brief.
The Mechanical Beasts lost one-third of their number, but due to their numerical advantage, they quickly achieved victory.
This time the Mechanical Beasts were equipped with sharp blades on their heads to use against the Zombies.
The Mechanical Beasts dragged the dead Mechanical Zombies and their fallen comrades back to the underground complex’s nest.
These were sources of precious resources and technology for them.
Outside the complex, construction was in full swing.
Small robots on wheels and tracks were clearing the site and building a small fortress to guard the entrance, while also facilitating the transport of resources to the lower levels.
Many Hunter teams returned from all directions with prey; some carried Zombies and fallen comrades, while others held large pieces of metal.
A few also brought back mutants for the purpose of studying their body structures.
~~~~~~
As soon as breakfast ended, Lin Yi teleported to Tilian Planet and then hit the road.
His route was to the north, but he wanted to check out some small camps along the way.
To understand the life of the Half-Mechanical People outside the fortress and conduct some trade with them.
As Lin Yi crossed the desolate ruins and reached the area north of the Rusted Fortress, he found himself in a dense forest.
It looked quite nice here, with green leaves actually outnumbering the withered yellow ones slightly.
Lin Yi also noticed a few clusters of plants that resembled flowers.
After speaking with Orianna, he gathered a group of people to collect samples and take them back to the Shelter.
They acted quickly, and just fifteen minutes later, Lin Yi was able to continue his journey.
He soon found a path through the woods, which seemed as if a Titan had carved it out.
Felled trees formed a trail that went deep into the forest for dozens of kilometers.
He occasionally encountered some mutant animals.
At first, they seemed to be herbivores, but a few kilometers later, he found the same kind of animal eating the carcass of some other animal.
His destination was a small camp about a half-hour’s journey to the northeast.
There used to be a spaceport here, and after the end of the world began, many survivors started flocking to this place.
There were almost no Zombies in the desert, which is why most survivors were willing to endure the barren and arid climate to survive.
"Report, Melanie."
"Boss, based on the data we have, this camp has been destroyed."
"Understood, have the Warriors and Plunderers ready."
As Lin Yi approached the spaceport, Melanie’s analysis was confirmed; the camp had indeed been destroyed, and it was obviously not the work of Zombies.
"It was the Horu people..." Melanie murmured.
"Or other Half-Mechanical People; we’ll know more once we get closer to the camp."
Lin Yi said as he approached the five-meter-high wall of the camp.
This used to be a large camp, surrounded by many makeshift shelters built from debris, even though everything looked like it had been bombed to pieces.
"It must have been the Horu people," Lin Yi said, touching the bullet holes on the wall, "Have you seen anything, Melanie?"
"Boss, we haven’t found any survivors yet."
"Keep looking, and don’t forget to keep an eye out for resources."
"Understood!"
Solomon had already assembled a small team, equipped with First Level, including Peter, and they scattered across this area.
To be on the safe side, they all acted in pairs, with the boss being the only one acting alone.
After all, unlike the others, if there was any danger, he could teleport back to the Shelter.
It was Peter’s first time on an alien planet.
"Captain! This really is another planet! Why is the night sky that eerie green color? And why is the sand red? I just found a severed hand, it’s mechanical, but covered with a layer of skin!"
"Maintain radio silence. We’ll discuss the situation later," Solomon said sternly.
"Alright...sorry."
The squad continued to search the camp.
Meanwhile, the "Celestial Eye" system would tell them which items might be useful for the Shelter.
