Apocalypse: Hero of Potato Fields
Chapter 50: 15,000 Corpses
CHAPTER 50: CHAPTER 50: 15,000 CORPSES
The Louvre, second floor, the atmosphere oppressive and subtle.
Lin Yi faced the short, fat bureaucrat’s questioning and once again threw out the classic rhetoric.
"I have a subordinate with the skill to transport items, therefore—"
"So, you used a skill to empty the Blue-haired Gang’s warehouse?" The short, fat bureaucrat suddenly realized, finally having an answer to the mystery that had puzzled him for so long.
Lin Yi sneered smugly, "I don’t know what you’re talking about."
"You...!" The fat bureaucrat was so angry that his face turned purple, his lips trembled, yet he could only curse in a low voice.
"Prepare the coins and find a place without surveillance cameras; I’ll put the potatoes in."
With that, Lin Yi led five transmission specialists and strode out of the office, ready to head to the refugee square to begin the task of collecting zombie bodies.
At this moment, Annie’s eyes sparkled with excitement, her voice full of admiration, "Boss, you’re amazing! That bureaucrat looked fierce, but in front of you, he’s nothing at all!"
"He was nothing to begin with," Lin Yi responded flatly and without expression.
"Huh?"
"He’s not the ruler of the Louvre; it’s controlled by a group of elites. All right, start working, call me if there’s a problem."
"Got it, boss!"
The five transmission specialists responded in unison and then rushed into the refugee square, quickly engaging in the task of collecting zombie bodies.
Meanwhile, Lin Yi grabbed a chair, sat calmly on the side, and silently observed the surroundings.
On the square, corpses lay scattered, with the stench of decay growing ever stronger, nearly suffocating those present.
Da Chuan took the lead, as a veteran accustomed to dealing with zombie bodies, he appeared remarkably composed.
He walked straight to a pile of zombie bodies, took a deep breath, concentrated, and used his object transportation ability.
With a faint flash of light, a zombie body instantly disappeared, successfully transported to the shelter.
Thanks to the shelter’s upgrade, these bodies could be directly recycled into the Invincible Pit without needing secondary transportation into the shelter.
Da Chuan exhaled deeply and then promptly moved on to handle the next body.
Among them, Solomon’s performance was particularly remarkable.
As a former soldier, he navigated the bodies methodically, his movements swift and efficient, as if this task was a piece of cake for him.
Under his efficient operations, more and more bodies were successfully transported to the shelter.
In contrast, Annie and Zoe, the two girls, seemed somewhat hesitant at first.
They neither had Da Chuan’s practice nor Xiaochuan and Solomon’s agility.
During the process, they occasionally stumbled over bodies and soon became filthy, their clothes stained with dried blood, looking utterly disheveled.
Lin Yi did not intervene, only watched silently from a distance, confident they could complete the task.
Sure enough, before long, Annie and Zoe came running, a hint of expectation in their eyes.
Carefully, they explained their little plan to Lin Yi, hoping for the boss’s approval.
Lin Yi thought for a moment, then lightly nodded.
The two girls immediately became jubilant, excitedly hugged Lin Yi’s neck, each giving him a kiss on the cheek, then laughing and running away.
Soon after, Lin Yi saw Annie and Zoe using their charm—and food as bribes, to successfully persuade the refugees to help.
They directed the refugees to pile the bodies together, so they could transport them from one spot.
This immensely increased efficiency, quickly surpassing the others.
However, facing the towering stack of bodies for the first time, the two girls couldn’t help but tremble slightly.
Covering their mouths and noses tightly with their hands, their fear initially hindered their ability to use their transport skills smoothly.
Thankfully, after demonstrations from Xiaochuan and Solomon, they were able to get back on track.
The light glowed, and the bodies disappeared!
As time passed, the bodies on the square gradually decreased, and the foreign police received orders from above to ’outsource’ a large area to Lin Yi.
Unknowingly, the sun gradually set, but the work was not yet finished, and the transmission specialists’ faces turned pale from exhaustion.
Seeing this, Lin Yi decided to join in personally, participating in collecting and transporting the bodies.
With physical attributes far surpassing ordinary people and high-level attributes, as well as excellent equipment and strong recovery abilities,
he jumped into work, and in less than an hour, the number of bodies he collected rapidly increased, quickly catching up with the other transmission specialists.
By the time the work was nearly done, the number of bodies he had transported accounted for half of the total—fifteen thousand bodies.
As Lin Yi was vigorously engaged, the short, fat bureaucrat suddenly came to interrupt.
He stared dumbfounded at the vast area nearly cleaned out, his eyes wide with shock, nearly popping out.
It wasn’t until Lin Yi called him several times that the bureaucrat snapped out of his daze, stammering, "I... I’ve prepared a transaction location, please follow me."
"Alright, guys, wrap it up." Lin Yi took out a walkie-talkie, notifying the five transmission specialists to follow him.
Soon, the group arrived at an apartment. The items inside had been hurriedly moved out, leaving it desolate.
Lin Yi unceremoniously shooed the bureaucrat who tried to follow them out, then took out red paint.
"Melanie, tell me the cameras’ positions."
"Got it, boss. There’s a hidden camera on the wall one meter to your right..."
Ten minutes later.
Melanie discovered six hidden cameras in total, which made Annie extremely furious, wanting to go out and teach the bureaucrat a lesson.
Lin Yi merely smiled, not overly concerned.
He knew well that most people in the Louvre Camp were like this, saying one thing and doing another, so he was always alert.
After painting over the last camera lens with paint, Lin Yi retrieved exactly three tons of potatoes from the shelter, then left the room with the others.
"All set?!"
When Lin Yi opened the door to reveal the food inside, the sight of so many potatoes left the bureaucrat almost beside himself.
He shuffled into the room, clenching his fists, muttering quietly, "There’s hope, with these potatoes; let’s see which rival dares to unseat me now!"
Lin Yi stood at the door, watching him with interest.
The bureaucrat snapped out of it, realizing his loss of composure, appearing somewhat embarrassed.
Sweating profusely, he exited the room, instructing a soldier carrying a sack to hand over the coins to Lin Yi.
"Your skill is truly miraculous."
"Of course, otherwise they wouldn’t have sent me."
Lin Yi’s words sent a chill down the bureaucrat’s spine, confirming his previous suspicion that there must be someone powerful backing Lin Yi and that his organization’s strength was in some aspects comparable to that of the Louvre.
Seeing Lin Yi effortlessly produce three tons of potatoes, he was fully convinced of his guess.
For the sake of caution, he decided to probe Lin Yi once more...
