Capítulo 606: Chapter 606: Cute Kane

Her jaw dropped. “Uncle…?”

He nodded. “Yes. Uncle. I… your uncle.” He repeated it several times, almost like a chant.

For a moment, Su Jiyai was speechless, and an urge to laugh rose in her mind.

How ridiculous was the scene? A zombie king asking a human girl to call him uncle.

For some reason… she suddenly felt that Kane… was kind of cute.

If he insists like this… then he must have really known my mother.

Her eyes softened. “Uncle Kane… do you want to stay in the base with me?”

Kane paused. He turned and looked at the walls of the base. His lips pressed together. Then he shook his head. “World… different.”

Su Jiyai understood instantly. He knew he was no longer human. He knew the zombie and human world had split apart.

She stepped closer, her voice was laced with gentleness.

“Even if the worlds are different, I will stay by your side. I’m working on an antidote. Once I succeed, I will cure you completely. So if you want, you can come in and stay with me.”

Kane’s eyes shook. Slowly, he nodded. “Then… live… here.”

His words were rough, broken, but Su Jiyai understood.

She smiled warmly. “Good. Then come.”

She led him into the base, careful not to let other people see. She guided him down to one of the underground rooms she had built in secret.

Once inside, she asked softly, “Uncle Kane… are you hungry? What do you eat?”

Kane froze. His lips parted. After a long pause, he shook his head.

“Don’t know. Only… meat. Animal… meat. Human… no. If no animal… then… human.”

Su Jiyai’s eyes softened with relief. “I understand. I will make sure you get enough animal meat. You don’t need to worry.”

Kane nodded slowly. “Understand.”

Then, something strange happened. His lips curved up.

A smile appeared on his pale face. His skin was gray, his veins greenish under the surface, his teeth sharp. It should have been terrifying, like something from a horror movie.

But to Su Jiyai, it was not scary at all.

Kane pointed at her and said softly, “You… good.”

Her lips curved into a small laugh.

“When you heal completely, Uncle, I will ask you everything about my mother. For now, just rest.”

Kane tilted his head in confusion but said nothing. His vocabulary was so limited, his mind fragile.

Su Jiyai sighed. If not for his strong will to stay human, he would have already become a full zombie.

She sat across from him, watching as his foolish grin stayed on his face. For the first time, she felt a strange comfort.

After making sure Kane was comfortable in the underground room, Su Jiyai hurried back to her own room. Her heart was pounding.

Uncle Kane… if he really knew her mother, then curing him was more than just helping a zombie. It was about family. It was about truth.

She sat down at her desk, pulled out her notes, and started to plan for her next portal.

The seventh scroll of the antidote was waiting. She needed the herbs. Without them, she could not move forward.

Her hand tapped against the table. “I must cure him,” she whispered. “I cannot let him stay like that… not if he is really family.”

She opened the system interface and searched for Rui Wang’s location.

Soon, a small screen appeared, showing Rui Wang walking into the base with her husband. They were talking quietly, looking peaceful.

Without hesitation, Su Jiyai ordered. “System, tell Rui Wang I want to meet her.”

[Yes,] the system replied at once.

A few seconds later, Rui Wang suddenly stopped walking. She looked at her husband, Fu Lin, and said softly, “Boss Su wants to meet.”

Fu Lin nodded slowly. “I heard the same thing in my mind. We should go.”

Their faces became serious. Together, they walked to the conference room.

When they entered, Su Jiyai was already there, sitting calmly, a smile on her face.

“Rui Wang, Fu Lin,” Su Jiyai greeted. “Have you been well? Did you face any problems lately?”

Rui Wang blinked in surprise.

Then she smiled, shaking her head. “No, Boss Su. We are living a good life. You don’t need to worry so much about us.”

Still, her heart felt touched.

Su Jiyai always asked about them, month after month.

She didn’t just use them; she truly cared. Sometimes, Rui Wang even thought her son should call Su Jiyai his second mother.

Fu Lin also felt moved, though he stayed quiet.

After a pause, Rui Wang’s eyes sharpened. “Boss Su… have you started to move against Aurora Base?”

Su Jiyai nodded slowly. “Yes. I plan to remove all the pests hiding inside that base.”

Rui Wang’s fist clenched. Anger flashed in her eyes. “Good. They deserve it.”

The moment the words left Rui Wang’s mouth, Su Jiyai heard a soft ding in her mind. Her luck stat rose by twenty points instantly.

Her eyes narrowed slightly as she looked at Rui Wang.

Rui Wang noticed her gaze and tilted her head. “Boss Su? What is it?”

Su Jiyai chuckled lightly. “Nothing.”

But inside, her thoughts turned. She understood something.

Finally, she said with a smile, “That’s all for now. You may leave.”

Rui Wang and Fu Lin glanced at each other, confused. Why had Boss Su called them only to ask a simple question? Still, they both nodded and left respectfully.

The room fell quiet again.

Su Jiyai tapped her finger gently on the table, her mind deep in thought.

Ever since she brought Huo Ning to her base, she had been keeping an eye on Aurora Base. Now that her forces were strong enough, she had begun taking action.

After all, Aurora Base had caused Huo Ning great pain. Su Jiyai would never forgive them.

“System,” she said at last. “Can I activate my power again now?”

[Yes,] the system answered.

“Then,” Su Jiyai continued, “inform Jake, Qin Feng, and Xi Ping to come. Tell them to meet me in our usual place. And teleport me there too.”

[Yes,] the system replied.

In the next second, Su Jiyai’s figure vanished from the room.

She appeared in a quiet corner, surrounded by dry trees and silence. The air was still. She waited.

A few moments later, Jake arrived, tall and calm. Then Qin Feng appeared, his expression serious. Finally, Xi Ping came, her eyes bright with curiosity.

They all turned to Su Jiyai.

Su Jiyai smiled faintly.

“This time, we will go through another portal. We need more herbs for the antidote. Do you all remember how the herbs look?”

Qin Feng nodded firmly. “Yes.”

Xi Ping nodded too. “I remember.”

Jake gave a small smile. “I won’t forget.”

“Good,” Su Jiyai said. “Then we will split our focus once we arrive.”

Then she paused. Slowly, her figure shimmered. Her body shrank, fur sprouted, and in seconds, she had transformed into her blue wolf cub form. Her soft fur glowed faintly under the moonlight.

She leapt into the air, planning to land in Qin Feng’s arms like usual.

But suddenly, Jake stepped forward quickly. He intercepted, catching her in his arms instead.

Su Jiyai blinked up at him in surprise.

Jake looked down at her and chuckled. “You should be careful. Men and women need distance.”

Qin Feng’s face darkened instantly. His voice was cold. “Jake. Don’t interfere.”

He reached out, trying to take Su Jiyai from Jake’s arms.

But Jake shifted slightly, blocking him, and pushed him back with one hand. His smile stayed calm. “Don’t be so angry, Qin Feng. Remember… you are not related to her by blood. You have no special right.”

Qin Feng’s eyes narrowed dangerously. “And you? You are not related to her either. Don’t act like you are her guardian.”

Jake shrugged. “I am her brother type. That gives me the right to protect her.”

Su Jiyai, still in wolf cub form, looked between the two men. Her little tail twitched. Her ears drooped in helplessness.

“Enough,” she said in a small but firm voice.

Both men froze, startled that she had spoken in her cub form.

She looked up at Jake first. “Jake, you are not my brother, and neither any blood relative. Release me.”

Jake smirked, “Oh, come on. Jiyai. You met me first.”

“So what? Are you entertaining the thought that she will like you?” Xi Ping muttered under her breath. Though the relationship between her and Jake had eased a lot, she still couldn’t connect with him.

Jake stared at Xi Ping with a cold gaze and chuckled, “You should keep your mouth. I never saw Jiyai with that gaze.”

Even though he didn’t understand why he felt such protectiveness toward Su Jiyai, he acted on his instincts.

Su Jiyai calmly leaped down from Jake’s arms and walked toward Qin Feng.

Qin Feng didn’t hesitate and scooped her in his arms. At the same time, he dusted off her furs as if she had touched something dirty.
