Apocalypse: Last Traveler
Chapter 340 - 320: What Lu Shou Cannot Comprehend
CHAPTER 340: CHAPTER 320: WHAT LU SHOU CANNOT COMPREHEND
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight.
Lu Shou counted, there were a total of eight people.
Unexpectedly, Mr. Lu and Mr. Yao managed to bring over two cars with eight people so suddenly.
Including Mr. Lu and Mr. Yao, there were ten people, then adding himself, the number equaled that of the Northern County!
If they all practiced the miraculous training method that Mr. Lu taught him, maybe they could really confront the people from Northern County!
Lu Shou was astonished and delighted at the same time.
Mr. Lu and Mr. Yao are truly remarkable!
The people who came were all calling them Big Brother and Big Sister; they must certainly be the leaders of these people.
Moreover, these people seem very different from those under Boss Liang in Northern County!
If it were Boss Liang’s people, upon learning that Boss Liang and Xu were in danger, their lives hanging by a thread, they would never all arrive together to lend a hand.
Those people would only secretly rejoice, waiting for Boss Liang and Xu to die, so there would be one less leader above them. Maybe they would even covet the bodies of Boss Liang and Xu in secret.
Such solidarity, willing to face life and death together, is unlike anyone else in this world!
What exactly is their background?!
Lu Shou was full of questions, but seeing Lu Xi’an and Yao Wei greeting and talking with the newcomers, he dared not step forward to ask.
He cautiously shrank back, observing the situation in front of him.
"Big Brother, Big Sister, I’m here too!"
The one leading, who Lu Shou felt bore some resemblance to himself, greeted Lu Xi’an and Yao Wei, after which a young girl suddenly sprang out from the back, bouncing up to Lu Xi’an and Yao Wei, grinning at them.
She wasn’t as pretty as Yao Wei, but not bad at all, much shorter than Yao Wei, with a slightly hunched back, though it wasn’t noticeable unless you looked closely.
From this young girl, Lu Shou saw unparalleled youth and vitality, something he had never seen before. Not even the newborns he had ever seen had such vitality.
How wonderful!
Lu Shou couldn’t help but think to himself.
Then he saw Lu Xi’an glare at the girl, and her neck shrank, reducing her level of vitality by half in an instant.
"Didn’t I tell you not to come? How did you end up here too?!"
Lu Xi’an glared fiercely at the girl, then asked the person who had spoken earlier, "I told you to leave a couple of people at the base, how did you end up bringing everyone?!"
That person removed their sunglasses, revealing their eyes and showing a mouthful of uneven teeth, saying: "Big Brother, don’t blame me, she wanted to come, I couldn’t stop her.
"This little Chai Xin is quite something now, hiding in the car, even if I couldn’t find him, neither could Tang Er nor Chou Nu!
"She’s even learned to hide her sound!"
It turns out this girl is called Chai Xin.
Lu Shou understood now.
In this team, there should be two Type A Neo-Humans, one named Tang Er and the other Liu Hua. This Chai Xin is probably a D-type. To be able to avoid detection by Type A Neo-Humans at close range, that truly is impressive!
Perhaps even the people of Northern County couldn’t do that?!
How terrifying!
The person who bore some resemblance to him continued: "Moreover... Big Brother, we discussed it carefully at home, and unanimously agreed that since this battle is to be fought, we must give it our all, no holding back.
"Only by fighting with full force do we stand a chance at winning, what use is there in holding back, leaving a couple of Neo-Humans at home when our enemies will eventually come for them.
"I’ve told you before, Big Brother. In this world, many have tried, built before us, but without exception, all failed, wiped out by those who do nothing but strive for brutality and aggression, making all efforts go in vain.
"It is our fortune that we have gained the power we have now. And we are bound to oppose these people, how can we spare our energy in matters of life and death?"
Lu Xi’an said: "So, you didn’t even think of stopping Chai Xin, just leaving an old Shu at the base?"
The person chuckled without replying.
Lu Xi’an sighed, saying: "You’re right, my thinking was too narrow. Apologies."
As soon as these words were spoken, the girl named Chai Xin immediately became happy and relaxed.
And the person who had been speaking with Lu Xi’an waved his hand, saying: "No need to mention it!"
Then Lu Xi’an turned to another person, saying: "You are called Tang, right? Long time no see, didn’t expect you to come too."
"Long time no see."
That person smiled, saying, "No choice, with Xuan Xiaocao dead, if I stayed in the south, I’d be facing Northern City, this life and death situation, I’ve no choice but to go all out.
"Honestly, Xuan Xiaocao dying is worse than not dying, at least Xuan Xiaocao wasn’t like the people of Northern County, always looking to fight, not allowing anyone to rest."
Lu Xi’an laughed: "Then I must apologize."
The person said, "There’s no need for that. I’ve already heard from Luo Ping that it was Xuan Xiaocao and their group who actively sought you out. They deserved to die. I just didn’t expect you to be so strong; we’re lucky we didn’t end up fighting you back then."
Lu Shou listened from behind, utterly dumbfounded.
Xuan Xiaocao actually died?!
And was killed by Mr. Lu?!
Xuan Xiaocao from the North had even given Boss Liang a hard time, halting their northward march. And yet, Mr. Lu was able to kill Xuan Xiaocao?!
Doesn’t that mean Mr. Lu alone could have taken on Boss Liang’s group, and now with so many people by his side, there’s nothing to fear?!
Lu Shou felt a mix of joy and anxiety in his heart.
The reason for his joy was obvious. The anxiety came from realizing how formidable these people were. He wasn’t sure how to interact with them and worried whether they would harm the villagers of Healing Village.
Lu Xi’an then introduced the people he had gathered to Lu Shou.
Lu Shou learned that the one who resembled him somewhat was named Luo Ping, a B-type Neo-Human—Lu Xi’an said Luo Ping was the leader of this group, but Lu Shou felt it was really Lu Xi’an.
Then there was the young girl, who was indeed named Chai Xin, and was indeed a D-type Neo-Human.
Additionally, there were Type A Neo-Humans Tang Er, Chou Nu, B-type Neo-Humans Bottle, Type C Neo-Humans Liu Hua, Old Tang, and D-type Neo-Human Yao. Chou Nu, Liu Hua, and Chai Xin were female, the rest were male.
As Lu Xi’an introduced these people, they all acted very warm and friendly, giving off a very comfortable feeling.
Lu Shou didn’t know the phrase "like bathed in the spring breeze," otherwise, he would have thought of it right away.
He felt these people were very unusual, with a special aura in their words and actions, completely different from others.
They, and even the people from Northern County, seemed like beasts in front of these individuals, not comparable at all.
And... why do some of these people look somewhat like ordinary humans, yet are clearly Neo-Humans?
Lu Shou couldn’t understand, and Lu Xi’an didn’t seem like he was going to explain.
Lu Xi’an also introduced Lu Shou to Luo Ping and the group, and for some reason, when Lu Xi’an introduced Lu Shou to Luo Ping, Luo Ping was exceedingly enthusiastic, as if they were long-lost friends.
Lu Shou was baffled and had no clue why, but he increasingly felt these people were good folks.
Then again, people who knew Mr. Lu and Mr. Yao, and who risked themselves to come to their aid, must be good people.
"Let’s go, friend! I heard you built a fantastic village; where is it? Take us to see it,"
Luo Ping said merrily, exuding warmth, casually putting his arm around Lu Shou’s shoulders.
Lu Shou wasn’t accustomed to this. Although considered a good person by the villagers of Healing Village, he was somewhat aloof, often praised but never approached so casually.
Yet, with Luo Ping’s arm around him, he couldn’t feel any disdain, only an inexplicable sense of honor.
"This way, walk this way."
He eagerly led Luo Ping along the path.
Luo Ping turned around and shouted, "You all follow along by car, it’s okay to get in."
Behind him, people began boarding the vehicles, and Lu Shou noticed most of them got inside, except for the girl named Chai Xin.
The girl hopped a couple of steps forward, alongside Yao Wei, saying, "I’m not getting in the car, I’ll walk with the big bro and sis, okay?"
Luo Ping waved, saying, "Suit yourself. Don’t always imitate Shu, calling me Old Bro sounds awful. Call me Big Bro, or at least Mr. Luo."
Chai Xin replied, "Okay, Old Bro, I got it, Old Bro."
Luo Ping: "..."
"Hahaha!"
Lu Xi’an laughed aloud. Yao Wei also smiled, but didn’t make any noise.
Seeing the two of them laugh, Chai Xin joined in with a "hehe" giggle.
Lu Shou felt the girl was very close to Lu Xi’an and Yao Wei, like their daughter or something, and Luo Ping also seemed to treat her like family.
The people inside the car, upon hearing Luo Ping and Chai Xin’s conversation, laughed as well, openly and without malice, unafraid of offending anyone.
Lu Shou suddenly felt a pang of envy, admiring the bond and atmosphere among these people, that natural and carefree closeness that he had never seen before.
Not in Healing Village, and certainly not in Northern County.
How did they achieve such a relationship? How were such intimate and spontaneous rapports cultivated? How could they interact this way?
In such an interaction, wouldn’t the leader lose authority? Wouldn’t the subordinates easily rebel?
Lu Shou couldn’t fathom it, never having witnessed such dynamics.
But now that he saw it, he inexplicably found it sensible.
There was no justification, just a feeling that such things should exist in this world.
He felt an urge to become part of it.
