Apocalypse: Transmigrated General's Daughter Uses Space to Survive
Chapter 258: A Bloody Affair
CHAPTER 258: CHAPTER 258: A BLOODY AFFAIR
The fish had already smelled them and since most of the people who came today were superpower users, they had a special appeal for the fish.
Just like the humans were using crystal cores to improve their strength and level up their superpowers, so do other creatures.
Now with so many people at the same place meant that the smell of vitality, particularly for the fish that had already turned into zombies, was too attractive to ignore. Thus, they were already attacking.
With a slash of the sword they were holding, Li Kian and Qi Long acted at the same time. They lifted their swords above their heads and brought them down with all their strength. The water pillar that had almost crashed into them was split into three parts and immediately disintegrated.
When the others saw this they knew that the fish meant serious business and they too needed to step up their efforts.
As such, a situation occurred where fish and humans engaged in a battle that left both sides bloodied.
A fish would swing its tail and slap a person who if not paying attention would end up thrown into the air and hit back down in the water with several injuries. After a few minutes of fighting chaotically, the people finally figured out each other’s strengths and weaknesses and came up with a plan to outsmart the fish.
Therefore, the real battle began. Those with superpowers paired with those without to launch long-range attacks while those with no superpower concentrated on close combat. This method will help in confusing the fish to ensure that injuries are reduced.
Hence, Chichi, who was paired with two other soldiers she had met the day before and got along well, focused on one fish. She had realized that her superpower worked better when the opponent was not completely alert.
In that case, she and the other two stood on the two sides of the fish and attacked it with the weapons in their hands. It was not easy since they had to keep swimming to stay afloat and not sink into the water. After all, the flood water was already almost twenty meters deep. If they sank at that height, there was no saving them.
They also had to observe their location at all times and make sure that if the fish changes its position they change theirs too to avoid being in front of it or behind it. Standing in front of the fish meant that it could use the water to launch unexpected attacks.
Since they could attack with water pillars, the strength and speed at which the water pillar and the pressure that comes with the attack is enough to tear someone to pieces. Therefore, it was better to avoid the front of the fish if one didn’t have any defense mechanisms.
The tail had to be avoided as well because with just a swing, someone could be split into two.
Thus, Chichi and her teammates joined forces and attacked the fish from the sides. They would thrust their weapons into its sides with all their strength and leave deep cuts with each stab. Because the fish they had chosen was a mutated fish and not a zombie, it could feel the pain and kept swinging its tail to attack.
Because of its massive size, the water would shoot out some jets when the tail hits it. Thus, the people who adopted this strategy weren’t completely unscathed. The water jets inflicted a lot of pain and some even had their skin pierced and bleeding.
This was a new experience for all of them and they had to endure the pain because a slight distraction could lead to a more serious consequence. Moreover, they were not alone and had to watch out for their teammates. If they slacked even a little, their teammates might suffer.
Chichi and her companions ignored their injuries and kept attacking the same way until she felt that the fish was not calm at all and released the hypnotic poison she possessed aimed straight at the head of the fish.
Within a few seconds the fish stopped moving. Because they had already discussed in advance, the other two soldiers noticed the lack of movement of the fish and knew that their chance had come.
They immediately swam forward with the speed and grace of a dolphin and were next to the fish in the blink of an eye. Chichi remained where she was and kept releasing her poison with all the energy she could master.
The other two lifted their swords and brought them down simultaneously. Soon, the water around them turned red. They had practically severed the head of the fish.
They also moved very fast and after bringing down their swords with all their strength and cutting deep into the head of the fish, they retreated immediately. The fish twitched a few times before it floated on the water with a deafening stillness. It was dead.
Before they could breath a sigh or relief the fish in front of them disappeared. They were shocked at first, then remembered Chu Hao and Ye Xuan’s abilities and relaxed.
Of course, the person who had taken the fish was Chu Miao, not the two they were thinking about, but that didn’t matter.
The large group of more than twenty people in the water had divided themselves into smaller teams of twos or threes depending on their strength.
In one group, someone was using wind blades to launch long-range attacks while their partner hacked the side of a fish with a sword. By now, they had also figured out how to distinguish between the mutated and edible fish and the zombified ones.
The mutated fish would react to being hacked because of the pain and their blood was red. On the other hand, the zombies wouldn’t react to being cut, unless they were attacked on the head. Moreover, their blood was almost black and looked sticky.
