Apocalypse: Zombie King is the Female Lead's Younger Sister
Chapter 112: Swindling Evan
CHAPTER 112: CHAPTER 112: SWINDLING EVAN
That was how Zerra ended up being dragged to the main base. Cassias somehow managed to coax her into joining him.
Her parents were against the idea too, worried that their children had all gone out. Laziel received their approval because he promised he would stay in the base and return with Nyra.
Currently, they were in Evan’s office again, drinking tea.
"Where did you get such a good thing?" Evan sighed again, helping himself with another glass of the tea.
"I will give you the spring water and tea you need to make one yourself." Cassias had a rare moment of generosity.
Zerra squinted her eyes, as happy as a fox as she sipped on the tea. The spiritual energy she had gotten from the tea was actually better compared to when she drank it as plain spring water.
She suspected that the tea had played a huge role in its effectiveness besides the spring water itself. Her eyes held extreme curiosity when she turned to Cassias.
Evan was right; where had he gotten this tea from? Was his space connected to some kind of realm with spiritual energy? She mocked her own conjecture. Unfortunately, Cassias didn’t seem keen on answering Evan’s question.
Evan’s mouth twitched, and he rubbed his temples. He sighed again, not out of relief but headache.
"Speak, what do you want?" He grumbled. His hand on his chest with a pained expression. His eyes momentarily fell on Zerra’s contented little face before shifting to Cassias again.
"Give me some normal cars," Cassias said in a nonchalant tone.
Evan glared at him. He took a few sips of his tea to calm down, almost couldn’t hold back the urge to throw this man out of his office. The first time he entered his room, he sauntered in pretentiously as if it was his place!
"Do you think cars are cabbage?!" Evan raged.
Zerra blinked. She weakly retorted with a contemplative expression on her face, "Cabbages should be rare now..."
It was apocalypse time. No one would have the time to plant cabbages anymore, and some that were on the field might have rotted by now. They were almost in the fourth month of the apocalypse.
Evan pursed his lips, gazing at her with a look of indignation. Meanwhile, Cassias had a smug smile on his face.
"Isn’t Zerra right? Cars are like cabbages now," he mumbled.
His cousin rolled his eyes. "Fine! But you have to do something for me. What do you think? If you agree, then it’s a deal for us."
Contrary to his expectations, Cassias agreed easily. "It’s a deal."
Evan felt like his throat was blocked by something. "Just like that? You didn’t even ask what kind of things I want you to do? What if I ask you to fly in the sky or cross the ocean?"
He scoffed. The way Cassias agreed without bargaining with him or resisting made him feel like he had suffered a loss. Cassias made him unhappy, so he wanted to make him unhappy in return!
Zerra thought about it. Flying was easy for Cassias, but crossing the ocean would depend on his power. She suddenly wondered if it was possible for him to do the latter too.
"Then what do you want me to do?" Cassias easily went with the flow, and Evan nearly jumped in anger.
"Just get out and get your cars!" Evan raged, not forgetting to hug the teacup and stopping Cassias from taking it back.
And that was how they ended up standing in front of Evan’s office now, kicked out. Zerra had an inexplicable expression on her face, but Cassias had a rare look of satisfaction and joy.
"Let’s go get the cars." He took Zerra to Evan’s private house.
A look of amazement crossed Zerra’s face when she saw the rows of cars in Evan’s place. There was a lot. Probably over ten of them, and he might still have more in other parts of the small mansion. Cars were indeed like cabbages here!
"Evan liked collecting cars. He treasures them like his babies." Cassias explained. He took Zerra around the room.
"You should choose. Put them in your space." He unceremoniously took one at the center of the room, which seemed like a modified car.
"Is this alright?" She hesitated. Those cars were of famous brands, and they looked a bit flashy.
In the end, Cassias helped her choose a few. She wondered whether Evan would cry when he found out most of his babies were gone. He had asked Cassias to return the military vehicle but lost a lot more.
"Why do we need so many cars?" Zerra asked in bewilderment.
"Some of those are mine." He smiled, making her widen her eyes. Eh, so he stored his cars here, huh? No wonder she had never seen him taking out cars from his space. There might have been limitations before the apocalypse with his space.
What kind of space was that anyway? She thought he was merely a dual-ability user, but his space seemed to grow along with his power.
In a sense, it was a bit similar to her inner space. However, Cassias didn’t have spiritual energy like her...
Recalling her space, Zerra was a bit tangled. Maybe she should ask Cassias about it?
"Cassias," she called out when they were already in the car. "I-I think I have awakened no ability at all."
She lowered her eyes.
"Your space ability..." he trailed off before falling silent. It confirmed her conjecture that his space wasn’t inherited from ability he awakened in the apocalypse.
"Let’s try it? Do you still have some space attribute crystal cores?" He asked.
She took out the half-eaten space attribute crystal core, a little embarrassed. "I have this one..."
He didn’t mind it at all, taking the crystal core to inspect. Confirming it was a space attribute crystal core, he put it in her palm.
Then, he guided on how to draw the energy from the crystal core. After a while, his frown deepened. "You really haven’t awakened any abilities."
She pursed her lips. Even though she already knew about it, she was really disappointed.
"But it doesn’t mean that you won’t awaken any abilities in the future. Laziel awakened after you bit him in your fox form."
She subconsciously thought, "Should I bite myself in fox form?"
Cassias’ mouth twitched. "It might not be useful."
They continued their conversation as Cassias started the car, heading back. He thought about it, and finally said, "You will most likely awaken an ability in the future."
"How do you know?" She tilted her head.
Before Cassias could answer, the car stopped abruptly. Zerra followed his line of sight.
Oh, it was the female lead beating some thug-looking people. There were also Darren, Meira, and others there.
Even Laziel was there. The moment Cassias stopped the car, he was already half-running toward them. Zerra rolled down the car’s window.
"What happened?" She asked. Nyra wouldn’t beat up people without reason, right?
"Can you help bring the thugs to the main base?" He turned to Cassias before adding, "They might be the ones who kidnapped our parents before."
