Apocalypse: Zombie King is the Female Lead's Younger Sister
Chapter 249: His True Form
CHAPTER 249: CHAPTER 249: HIS TRUE FORM
There was a lump of black scales on her lap, and she almost jumped back in fright.
"You have awakened, little fox?" The whale sensed her movement and asked.
She took a deep breath. Luckily, she didn’t throw the thing on her lap away. Otherwise, if it drowned, who would she cry to?
Once she was a bit calmer, she asked the whale. "How long have I been out?"
The whale let out a hum, as if it was thinking. Zerra braced herself.
"Two months or maybe three?" It asked with an unsure tone. After all, it was a whale and didn’t have much sense of time like humans.
She let out a sigh of relief. It wasn’t that long. However... she couldn’t completely trust the whale when it came to time. Animals didn’t place much importance on such a thing, but for a rough estimate, it still made sense.
"Thank you," she muttered, filled with gratitude. The whale had to let the surface of its body stay above the water for such a long time. "It must have been hard on you."
"It’s nothing." The whale sounded cheerful. "You forget that I can control water too. I sometimes still go underwater while putting bubbles on both of you."
"Here, I don’t know if it will be useful for you." She opened a bottle of spring water with rich spiritual energy and poured it near the whale’s mouth.
Her left hand clutching the scaly little one. She hurriedly pulled back to the middle of the whale’s body after she was done pouring. The massive whale opened its mouth and swallowed. She could sense its surprise after the whale swallowed the water.
"Little fox, what is it? What a refreshing thing!" The whale sounded delighted.
Zerra had a thoughtful look on her eyes. "Does it have any effect on your power?"
The whale let out a hum, its tone full of curiosity. "Is it supposed to? It just feels refreshing for now... like I have a lot of energy."
She bit her lip and nodded, her face not revealing anything.
"Where do you get it? Such a pure water. I hardly find such a thing amidst the contaminated sea water." The whale was brimming with curiosity.
She couldn’t reveal Cassias’ treasure, so she could only answer: "I found the water from lands, groundwater."
"Oh." The whale readily accepted her explanation. "Can you bring more for me if you visit me again?"
Zerra smiled. "Of course."
Actually, she still had two more bottles. However, Cassias needed them more than the whale.
He had changed into...
A cute scaly jet-black creature. The little one had a pair of shiny dragon horns. His true form was a dragon.
Unexpectedly, he was so adorable too.
"Do you know how long he had changed into a dragon cub?" She asked, checking the dragon cub with worry. His scale didn’t feel rough at all, somewhat warm and soft to touch.
She was a little addicted to the sensation. Even so, she was extremely careful when she handled him.
"Hm, yesterday, he was still in human form." The whale was also curious. "I have never seen a creature like him."
Zerra hummed. It took her a while before she determined Cassias was alright. He had no more physical injuries; his physique seemed to have undergone a dormant state for self-preservation. His sea of consciousness has been mostly repaired by now.
It just needed him a while to wake up. The problem was... she didn’t know how long.
Since the whale had said it was yesterday, Cassias might have shifted into his dragon form the moment she snapped back into reality.
She channeled her wood power into him, feeling him stir a bit. Her heart palpitated. She waited, holding her breath for him to open his eyes.
Unfortunately, even after an hour finally passed, he never did.
Disappointment filled her heart, but soon she cheered up again. She was sure that Cassias would wake up soon if she took care of him. He had always put her first, even above his needs, so it was the time for her to repay him.
There was also the matter about the scenes she had seen in his memories. She was ninety percent sure they had happened in the past, although not all had unfolded in the exact way it had shown her.
After all, whoever she was in the past had a different experience than the current her, so the way they react to things were bound to be different.
"What species is he?" The whale asked, suddenly swimming deeper in the water.
Zerra gasped, hugging the dragon cub close to her chest. Soon, she realized her worry wasn’t necessary. The whale really had a high water control ability, letting them stay inside a giant bubble.
She could see all the sea creatures. Such a novel experience!
"A dragon!" She muttered, smiling. But soon, a frown marred her forehead. She remembered that dragons were nearly extinct in the celestial realm.
Cassias’ parents...
Her heart ached a bit when she recalled the lonely look on that eight-year-old boy. She subconsciously hugged him tighter.
Even if the scenes didn’t unfold the same way as what his memories had shown her, it was undeniable he had a connection to her. A connection that spanned a few lifetimes at that.
He had been looking for her in every of her lifetime.
There was also Nyra.
A look of confusion crossed her face, and soon, it turned into a massive headache. As if someone was hammering her head, wanting to crush her skulk.
"Are you alright, little fox?" Even the whale’s voice sounded so distant.
She took a deep breath. Forcefully trying to remember things made her suffer like that... she let out a sigh. She had to take a step at a time.
"I am fine." She told the whale. Her forceful smile was more like a wince.
Firstly, she had to confirm with Cassias whether the memories were true, then filtered the ones that were his and the rest that were hers. She was sure her memories had gotten mixed up with his somehow.
In the third memory with Nyra, there was no him from the start until finish.
She sighed and rubbed her temples. As she recalled how Cassias and Nyra had tortured her in her previous reincarnations during the apocalypse, her feelings turned extremely complex.
"Don’t you eat fish?" The whale suddenly asked. Without waiting for her to respond, it let out some sort of noise.
A few fishes darted toward them, then it jumped in front of her, flapping madly. She twitched her mouth. Was it alright for you to feed your fellow sea creatures to a land dweller like that?
"Thank you! I like fish!" Nevertheless, she wouldn’t refuse food.
After she fed the spring water to Cassias’ little mouth, she started to roast them inside her inner space. While she waited, she couldn’t help but rub the dragon’s wings.
They were small and cute, just as comfortable as the scales to rub. Now, she kinda understood Cassias’ penchant for her fur. While the dragon didn’t have fur, the sensation must have been similar.
An evil thought suddenly sprouted in her mind. Since Cassias treated her like a pet, she could do the same, right?
She pinched the wings softly. The dragon stirred again, but it wasn’t awake. She channeled the spiritual energy mixed with wood ability to his little body again.
As she played with his wings, she conversed with the whale, who proudly introduced various sea creatures to her. She listened attentively, enjoying a rare peace.
"That thing is small, colorful but deadly. Don’t touch them. They are even more poisonous after the world changes." The whale introduced an octopus to her.
The octopus’ habitat should be on the shallow water, but because of the apocalypse, its nature had changed a bit.
For now, she didn’t need to worry about her parents either. Before she snapped back to reality. Cassias had given her a glimpse about their condition.
They were unconscious but also alright. She didn’t know what method he had used to keep them alive even without eating for months, but she trusted him. His inner space, which housed spring water, was special.
Thankfully, Zerra’s body also had a self-preservation method like Cassias. The moment she focused on going inside his sea of consciousness, her body remained dormant. Hence, after she woke up she felt so ravenous that she could eat a whole cow.
"Let’s go to the surface again." The whale announced cheerfully.
She nodded. Her fish was finally ready too! As the water crashed around the giant bubble, she enjoyed her fish.
What a pity, it wasn’t as tasty as the one Cassias usually cooked. Now, she admitted she missed him a little.
"Do you want to go ashore, little fox? Or are you waiting for your little friend to wake up first?" The whale suddenly asked.
Zerra pondered about it. She scanned Cassias’ little figure again, trying to determine when he would wake up.
Suddenly, his eyes abruptly opened, making her jolt in shock.
"Cassias?!"
