Apocalypse: Zombie King is the Female Lead's Younger Sister
Chapter 59: A Fox in the House
CHAPTER 59: CHAPTER 59: A FOX IN THE HOUSE
"I am fine." Scott sucked in a cold breath, and then collapsed to the floor.
"How is this fine?" Laziel jumped to him and checked his wound. Scott let out a hiss and pulled his hand back from Laziel.
Shaking his head, he reassured them. "One goat nearly mutated. Luckily, I killed it in time. But it still managed to kick me, and my arms hit some sharp objects."
Zerra ran to her room to find some bandages, water, and antibiotics. In an urgent tone, she ordered him, "Show your wounds, quick."
Cassias helped Scott tear his sleeves. As they cleaned his wounds, he occasionally let out a pained groan. However, they knew that they couldn’t dawdle.
The fog was an omen of ominous things. Out of the four of them, only Cassias and Zerra knew that the risk of zombie infection was greater during this period.
The virus could infect people through the air or even water, not just from zombie bites and nails.
There was a reason Zerra didn’t drink the water provided by Scott. She wouldn’t know whether the water was infected with the zombie virus or not. It wouldn’t be fatal for her, but her fox transformation... she didn’t want to trigger her fox form at this time!
Anyway, there was a portable, completely safe water tank beside her. Why not make use of him?
"Here, drink some water." Laziel filled a glass of water and handed it to Scott. It didn’t surprise Scott anymore because Laziel had taken his chance to show off his power during the previous meal.
"The fog is too strange." Cassias warned upon seeing Scott drinking the water from Laziel. There was a look of approval in his eyes. "We should only use the water Laziel conjured. It’s best to reduce our exposure to this fog."
Scott didn’t object. He had told them that the water in the bathroom’s water tank came from the well in the backyard, so they might also risk a high level of infection.
After they treated him, the four of them had another meal. Scott went to his room not long after, extremely exhausted. When Zerra used her senses to check, he really was sleeping like a log.
"Eldest sister and others also don’t go to us." Laziel complained the moment Zerra entered the living room.
She sneered at him when she heard his words and mocked, "Why are you so childish? Like a baby chick looking for its mother."
Then, it was followed by another quarrel again.
"You will make Scott wake up." Cassias finally told the two of them. The exasperation was obvious on his face.
The siblings gave him a sheepish look before they ran to their own rooms. Laziel was going to find a snack in his backpack; better eating than quarrelling. As for Zerra... she had jinxed herself.
She was turning into a fox!
Worse, she did that right in front of her room. Before she knew it, everything around her became gigantic in her eyes. Yet, she knew better it wasn’t those things that increased in size. It was her who had turned smaller!
Looking at her snow-white fur, she felt helpless.
She observed the surroundings and heaved a sigh of relief when she found none. She tried to get inside her room, but she couldn’t open the door.
Oh, just her bad luck, it was locked.
When she heard footsteps coming from the direction of the living room, her fur stood up in panic. She spun around, running toward the kitchen.
Just as she was about to jump there, a pair of powerful hands caught her.
Oh, well, here we go again.
"Hmm, how can you be here?" Cassias’ deep voice rang in her ears as he flipped her around to face him.
That pair of dark eyes scrutinized her. His obscure eyes made him look intimidating, albeit he was smiling.
Fake, it was his fake smile again.
Zerra only did what a fox would do, staring at him innocently. Just think about it. If he was the one who insisted on finding fault with her current form, even if it was apocalypse time, people would regard him as crazy.
"Not running away anymore?" He brushed the top of her head, reaching to her small pointed ears.
She swatted him away with her hind legs. Her angry mode turned on.
Cassias was stunned, and then let out a low chuckle, staring at the back of his hand–the spot she had just kicked.
"Alright. Since you are here, don’t think about going anywhere." He lifted her up with both of his hands and carried her to the living room.
Zerra’s heart trembled, and she sucked in a deep breath. What did this perverted male lead say? She had fox rights too!
Laziel raised his eyebrows in puzzlement; then his surprise turned into shock when he saw the fox in Cassias’ arms.
"Where did you get this fox... wait, isn’t this Foxy?" He widened his eyes, standing up and approaching Zerra.
Zerra’s mouth twitched when she heard the nickname. She snorted at him disdainfully and looked away, ignoring him. Since she couldn’t escape for the time being, she would just temporarily accept her fate.
"Look at that attitude. It’s really Foxy!" Astonishment filled Laziel’s voice. "Cassias, bro. Did you smuggle her somewhere? In your space, perhaps?"
"It’s impossible for Foxy to come here by herself, right?"
"Yeah, I put her in my space." Cassias nodded.
Zerra perked up when she heard the man lying. She poked her head up and blinked in fright. He was smiling...
She jumped out of Cassias’ arms without warning and turned to Laziel, biting his sleeves aggressively.
Laziel jolted in shock. His hands reached out to her tiny frame and tried to pull her off with no avail. "What’s wrong with her?"
Zerra bit his sleeve even more aggressively, imagining that it was him she was biting! He still dared to ask such a question when he had just landed her in trouble?!
She suspected that the reason she had Laziel as her brother was because of some kind of debt against him in her previous life!
"Come here. Don’t tear his sleeve like that..." Cassias coaxed. Zerra clung tighter to Laziel’s sleeve as though it were her dear life.
This buffoon just gave a stupid idea to the devil himself, and the one who ended up suffering would be her.
Just as she pondered it, Zerra suddenly found herself in an unfamiliar environment.
Cassias’ space.
