CHAPTER 97: CHAPTER 97: GREEDY FOR HER CUTENESS!

Cassias froze, not expecting Zerra’s question nor her sudden transformation into a human. When her words registered in his mind, he couldn’t keep a straight face anymore.

His face flushed. He covered it with both of his hands.

The accusation in Zerra’s eyes grew more fervent, and she crossed her hands on her chest. She was one brain cell away from biting him again...

Uh, wait, she couldn’t do that in her human form.

She had never seen the male lead looking so embarrassed. She let out a dramatic sigh. "You are guilty, right?"

The male lead actually did such an abominable thing to her! S-she... was also at such a loss for words. But it was definitely unacceptable; it made her furious!

"Give me your hands." Cassias took a deep breath. His ears still had a faint red in them, but his face was a lot calmer.

Zerra subconsciously held out her hands. Then, something fell onto her palm.

A ring. An engagement ring.

She opened her mouth, eyes wide. No words came out, and she closed it again. Her brain spun, and she tried to remember where she had lost this thing.

"This ring is with you when you fall down to the underground place." Cassias coughed, "It’s my first suspicion, so since the fox reminded me of you, I guess it should have been a female..."

Zerra’s cheeks burned. She just realized how outrageous her question was. W-well... she was just getting her fox rights, she convinced herself in her head.

Uh, she definitely wouldn’t admit that she forgot about the existence of her engagement ring! There was also a more pressing matter compared to this.

Now that things had come to this, she needed to make sure that this perverted male lead wouldn’t spread this information with others, or else, she would experience social death. Or worse, true death if those crazy scientists were to find out about her ability to transform into a fox.

They would kidnap and experiment on her. Another possible bad ending besides turning into a zombie king. She even preferred the latter.

"What’s on your mind?" Cassias coughed. "Now you believe me, right?"

Zerra sent him a hesitant look. "Are you going to tell others about this?"

"I won’t if you don’t want to." Cassias said without hesitation. "Your abilities... many people will covet them."

There was a meaningful look in his eyes. She instantly understood what he meant. He was talking about the fox transformation and controlling zombies. They were too abnormal.

She was a little tangled. Actually, she still didn’t trust the male lead even though he had been quite kind toward her.

"How about we make a deal?" Cassias proposed upon noticing her little troubled face.

"What kind of–" her words were cut off; her pupils dilated in disbelief at the sight in front of her.

Cassias had stood up, showing the pair of white wings on his back that gave off an angelic look. It added an impression of holiness on top of his stunning face.

Her mouth twitched. These wings would really come in handy when this black-hearted male lead deceived people with his appearance.

"You have wings?" She put on a shocked face. She already knew he would have wings, but didn’t expect that it would come so soon.

In order to show her his wings better, he flapped the white things that brought his entire body up. He was flying in the sky! At this point, Zerra was really stunned.

No wonder this man came without a car. He was using his wings, flying in the sky to follow her. If he flew high enough, of course, she would regard him as a bird in the sky; she wouldn’t even notice his figure.

Not long after, he landed on the ground and retracted his wings. He pulled up the corners of his lips. "How is it?"

"Let’s make a deal, shall we? You know my secrets, and I know yours." He smiled like an angel.

Zerra sighed into the sky. She couldn’t really tell the true intention of the male lead in proposing such a deal and revealing a shocking secret like that to her, but... it didn’t seem to be a loss to make a deal with him.

At least, her safety would be guaranteed temporarily.

"Alright. Let’s keep each other’s secrets..." Zerra mumbled.

"But you have more secrets than me," Cassias suddenly said. "How about you show your sincerity a little?"

Zerra had a bad feeling about this. She asked in a hoarse voice, "What do you mean?"

"Every time you turn into a fox, you should allow me to hold you..."

If Zerra were in fox form right now, all her fox fur would have stood up in anger. She glared at him in a rage, pointing her finger at him. "So, this is your intention, right? You are still treating me like a pet!"

Cassias pursed his lips. He didn’t expect that she would be this angry, that she had such a murderous look on her face. As if she wanted to kill him with her gaze.

He coughed, "You misunderstood. Now that you are a fox–I mean, now that I know the fox is you, Zerra, I should still be allowed to hold my fiancee, right?"

"I assure you, I do not see you as a pet. You will still get your fox rights, entitled to spring water, crystal cores..." he began to coax her.

She pondered it for a while. Hearing that she would still get her favorite water and snack, she thought it didn’t seem so bad.

"Or do you want Nyra or Laziel to hold you instead?" Cassias added.

Zerra grimaced. She remembered Nyra, who acted like a possessed witch every time she saw her fox form, and Laziel... he was poor; there was no benefit in allowing him to hold her.

There was also Meira now. That brother of hers might offer her as a sacrifice to his girlfriend. She shuddered. He was so foolish that it scared her.

Recently, he even stupidly let Meira join Darren and Sean at the main base, believing her lie that she wasn’t ready to meet his parents yet!

"Fine. I know you are greedy for my cuteness," she grumbled. Then, her eyes lit up mischievously. She would make this male lead regret treating her as his pet.

Not long after, her eyes were drawn to the rising sun in the distance. Her breath caught in her throat as she recalled something important. Her parents!

She abruptly stood up. "Cassias, you go back."

"Where are you going?" Cassias grabbed her hand.

"I need to go find my parents!" She frowned, trying to calm her chaotic emotions again.

Every time her emotions were out of control, she would uncontrollably shift into her human or fox form. It wasn’t a good sign.

And she was right. Zerra sighed as she gazed at her furry paws. Then, she realized she was too high above the ground. She was in Cassias’ palm.

"Let’s go find them together," Cassias muttered.

A few minutes later, the entire fur of the snow-white fox exploded as she clung to Cassias’ neck. They were freaking flying in the sky!
