CHAPTER 532: NO CHOICE BUT TO FACE (2)
Bai Meiyue was not being alarmist; she was being practical. If not for the fact that she was more of an offensive user, she too would have hidden her abilities, but she couldn’t because her skills could not be hidden.
The reason her mother was still unbothered was because Bai Meiyue had protected her very well; if not, with her abilities known to the world, Yu Miaomiao would have come after Mother Bai the first thing after getting an idea about how skilled Mother Bai was. Just like how Fox stole the soil of their greenhouse, they would have tried to kidnap Mother Bai.
Did she know about the theft? Of course she did. She had been keeping an eye on her penthouse in a similar fashion as how Yu Miaomiao was keeping an eye on her base. Thus, Bai Meiyue was very much aware of what Fox had done.
And given how obsessive Yu Miaomiao could be when she was determined to do something, she knew what the woman would have done to get Mother Bai on her side. She would have targeted her grandchildren and children. And her mother, being the kindest woman known to the world, would have happily sacrificed her life for her children.
Bai Meiyue knew these things; thus, she deliberately kept those things hidden from her mother.
Lei Qian glanced at the woman next to him and placed his hands on her shoulders before saying to her, "You don’t have to worry about every little thing, you know?"
Bai Meiyue smiled at the man before saying, "I don’t want to worry about it either, but there are some things that I need to be careful about."
When Lei Qian heard her words, he simply sighed. He then turned around and pushed her upstairs before saying to her, "You should take a nap. You have been working quite hard these days."
Listening to his words, Bai Meiyue didn’t say anything. She simply let herself be dragged upstairs. The weather was turning even colder, and Bai Meiyue could no longer resist the warm air of the bedroom; thus, she simply closed her eyes and hugged her little pup before going to sleep.
When she woke up, it was already late in the evening. As she slipped out of bed and headed downstairs, Bai Meiyue saw her elder brother looking at the blueprints of the buildings that he had drawn. She looked at the many drawings that her brother had made and joked, "Don’t tell me that you have started to get hooked on making blueprints, brother?"
"This is not funny." Bai Zhan flicked her forehead and then said to her in a quiet voice, "You might not know this, but the mansion that you have chosen is right next to the harbour. It faces the sea, and it’s not far from the main city; there are always chances of getting involved in troublesome and problematic situations. We need to be careful."
He then picked up the can of beer and took a swig from it. He sighed and then said to Bai Meiyue, "You have no idea, Yueyue. These days I worry so much that I feel like a weight is crushing my heart. If we cannot even feel safe at home, where would we feel safe? Just think about it? The two kids are getting bored of being locked up at home."
"They want me to take them out, but how am I supposed to tell them that the world is no longer a place where they could play around just because they want to?" After speaking, Bai Zhan sighed as he drank the entire can of beer. He knew that he couldn’t keep his sons at home, but at the same time, he feared bringing them out. They were still young; how could they face the situation outside?
When Bai Meiyue heard the words of her brother, she sighed and said to him, "Brother Zhan, I have told you many times. There is no point in trying to protect your sons so fiercely. If you want them to survive, then you have to start training them when they are still young. Look at Meng Guo. He is younger than Qian Han and Jiuque, but he still follows his mother and faces the zombies. How old are Qian Han and Jiuque? Are you really going to keep them in bubble wrap?"
"If you ask me, you should at least bring them along with you and have them kill child zombies. At least that way, they would get stronger. Who knows, maybe they might even awaken?"
Bai Zhan sighed. He knew that his sister was right; he really couldn’t keep his son locked up anymore. If he wanted them to survive, then it meant that he needed to prepare them young.
He raised his head and looked at Bai Meiyue before questioning, "Do you think that the possibility of children awakening is high?"
"It’s always high," said Bai Meiyue. She thought of the children who awakened in her past life and said to her brother, "You just need to be careful and make them face their fears. As long as they are courageous, nothing will stop them. Anyway, you are their father. If you can awaken such a powerful ability user, so can they."
With Bai Meiyue pushing Bai Zhan in the right direction, the man heaved a sigh of relief and agreed with her.
Bai Meiyue looked at her brother’s melancholic expression and didn’t say anything. She knew that as an old father, Bai Zhan was worried about his children, but at the same time, she knew that Bai Zhan had to face this sooner or later.
Just as she finished speaking to Bai Zhan, the doorbell rang, and Bai Meiyue walked over to the front door. She pulled it open and saw Shen Zhen standing outside.
"What’s the matter?"
"Your mother-in-law arranged a checkup for you. She asked me to do a blood routine and trace if anything is wrong with you. And since Lei Qian is the father, she wants me to draw his blood as well and trace if the combination of you two as parents will be alright, given that you have opposing powers."
