Apocalyptic Rebirth: With a repairman system space, she rises again.
Chapter 107: The presumptions of a superhuman.
CHAPTER 107: THE PRESUMPTIONS OF A SUPERHUMAN.
Under president Ceaser’s instructions, Lugard and a few men were on a supply hunting mission. They were currently searching the closest malls supermarkets to the White house.
"Check the grain aisles first." Lugard shouted to everyone as they made entry into the first large supermarket. "We need rice, wheat, oats, millet....whatever the fuck looks like food. Just pack it. We have only thirty minutes so move, move, move."
He did not want to delay Janet any more than necessary. She was outside, keeping the rain away from the cars and the entrance to the mall. Lugard did not know how long her powers would hold up. There was still much they did not know about this superhuman thing.
If Janet fainted or run out of energy, they were screwed. As he thought about that, he tilted his head and thought that maybe being stranded in this mega supermarket was not such a bad thing.
It had survived the meteors, there was probably water inside. There were worse places for one to be stranded than there.
However, he realized that he had made assumptions too quickly. Half of the supermarket was nothing but empty aisles. Some food had been spilled on the floor and it was rotting. The inside ranked of urine, the place smelled disgusting.
There were a few people camping there and they introduced themselves as the employees of the supermarket. The soldiers ordered them to back away with guns.
"Pack everything that is remaining here." Lugard ordered.
An old man that had been a security guard for the supermarket for years took a brave step to confront Lugard. "You cannot take all the supplies and leave us here to starve, at least take us with you." There was a forceful urgency in his tone.
In response, Lugard grimaced in revulsion and turned a gun on the man.
Whimpers and cries of fear came from the other survivors. Janet made way into the supermarket and used a small blast of water to disarm Lugard.
As she was pulling the water back into a bottle that was in her left hand, Lugard put away the weapon. With the superhuman watching, he had to play the part of the good guy.
"I am sorry, we cannot take you back. But we will leave you with a few supplies." He ordered his men to move the remaining boxes of cereals and canned fruit.
Janet was not having it. "We can take them with us, there is enough space at the White house."
Shaking his head, Lugard waved his hand in refusal. "In as much as we want to save everybody, it is just not possible right now. The president already designated the large resorts as bases, these people can relocate there after the acid rain subsides." He tried to reason with her.
Janet was not having it. Who knew when the acid rain would come to an end? No one did. What if these people were already dead when the rain stopped? It was her belief that the powers she had had been bestowed on her for a reason.
People like her were special existences in such times. They were the chosen ones that were supposed to guide the rest of mankind and help them fight back.
They were heroes.
"I am not leaving them here, let us take them to one of these bases and then return to the White house. If you need more supplies we can come back tomorrow and continue to search." Her tone made it clear that the conversation was over.
Janet turned to the survivors who numbered forty one and smiled at them. She started assuring them that all would be okay and they were there to help. She even asked them to pack up all they needed and prepare to relocate.
To reign his temper, Lugard clenched his eyes shut and mumbled under his breath. "Damn that sugar and honey. This bitch thinks she is charge or something. " Lugard forced a smile and reluctantly agreed for the employees to come along.
It was not like as if he was going to put up an argument with the human umbrella, what if she walked off and left them there? It was in their best interest to please her.
"Sir, we can transfer them to the nearest army base instead of a resort. Camp Kent is not very far from here and it was built with reinforced materials. I am certain that it is still standing." One of the soldiers mentioned.
"Let’s go there." Lugard marched out of there, fury spread across his features as soon as he was out of Janet’s view.

Sunshine was still in the space. A part of this was because she was avoiding her friend Nimo and the other reason was because she had just received a call from a client and accepted a job.
The job was to repair cracked gloves used by scrap miners. The trouble with them was that they electrocuted wearer instead of the ore.
Before beginning the job, She looked at her stats and blew air out of her mouth. She was still a long way off from leveling up again and her expertise was still robot legs. The system had even gone on to clarify that it was robot dogs in order to avoid confusion.
The gloves she was supposed to repair electrocuted her and she winced. She dropped them on the table and they continued to crackle.
"Interesting." Sunshine said as she stared at the purple gloves. The sparks were visible on the outside of the gloves. She had never seen anything like it.
"System analyze the problem and give me a solution." She requested.
[The polymer shells are scorched and flecked with red dust.]
As the system explained, Sunshine poked one of the polymer shells with a voltage tester. It snapped with a faint spark and tried to arc towards her wrist.
"Whoa take it easy buddy will you?" She reacted in time to avoid another electrocution. "You have way too much sizzle and you need to simmer down." She giggled like she had cracked the most amusing joke.
For a moment there, she looked at the gloves like she was expecting them to respond.
[Fixing these is simple since you already have access to the mall with vendors selling smart insulation tape. When wrapped around the gloves, it senses voltage levels and changes it’s resistance accordingly.]
"System buy the smart insulation tape." Sunshine ordered politely.
There was silence and then she had a chime which was familiar. It was the sign that a purchase had been made.
On getting it she got to work immediately, slapping the tape on tentatively. The sparks died and gloves seemed to lose their energy.
"Let me see you daring to fry me again, you twitchy bastards." Sunshine slapped them as if she was spanking a misbehaving kid.
She inserted her hands into them as she had longed to do since she saw them. The gloves fit themselves perfectly as if they belonged to her. They lit up, showing a light green. It was a sign that scrap and minerals had been detected.
The repair had been very easy, and it took her no more than six minutes.
"I know a scavenger that would kill to own a pair of these." She mumbled.
Suddenly, there was an unexpected change to her stats.
