Ascension of Chaos
Chapter 206 - B2 | 54
Ashley
Hours pass as I continue flying through the tower fighting against the different flying monsters. All with just my physical strength and gaze. Since I'm lacking on energy right now.
But even after hunting them for six hours, I never find an end to their numbers.
And I realize why when I find another tower with a large jewel at the top of it sitting on a pedestal. With dozens of flying monsters just materializing around the top of the tower.
Wait, so this jewel thing is creating more monsters?
Huh.
Well, considering my luck, the jewel will probably have some sort of mini boss guarding it.
I let out a sigh before moving down to the tower and walking over towards the jewel. But nothing happens. No large boss appears. The tower doesn't suddenly crumble. And the jewel doesn't start shining.
All of which were different possibilities that I was expecting while approaching it.
Um, where's the large boss?
Will it appear when I touch the jewel or something?
I purse my lips for a moment before shrugging. Then I move up to and reach out to grab the jewel.
All while tensing up, feeling ready at any moment to fight against some large boss.
But nothing happens, even when I grab the jewel. Following which I see another update about the quest.
To all the participants of the quest, Clocktower of Time, the quest has been updated!
Clocktower of Time
Objective 1: Kill the Timestricken Clockwork Overlord.
Objective 2: Kill all monsters within the tower.
Objective 3: Kill all Timeworn Clockworks within the tower.
Objective 4: Find the Jewel of Time.
Objective 5: Survive for 12 hours within the Clocktower of Time.
Select here to complete the quest!
There's… no boss…
I stare blankly at the jewel as the thing begins to dissipate in my hand.
Even the monsters that were forming around the tower from the jewel begin to fly away as if trying to escape. They don't attack me at all.
Please tell me I won't have to hunt down all the monsters…
The monsters continue to scatter for a few seconds before I let out a sigh. Then I begin rushing straight at them, killing one of them after another without hesitation.
And with that, I resume my hunt. Slaughtering all the monsters that I can find.
For a few more hours.
Eventually I manage to kill all of them, according to the quest progress.
And as usual upon completing a quest, I see a notification appearing in my vision.
Seconds later, I find myself being teleported to another room just like the first one I appeared in. One with three doors again.
The one on the left is labeled normal. The one in the middle is labeled hard. The one on the right is labeled death.
Meaning the second Domain of the System Tower for me is Hel's Domain.
The Domain for the Primordial of Death.
I guess it's time to get some death magic.
Before I can select a door though, another notification appears in my vision.
Okay, I guess I probably won't have to worry about fighting the Unique Monster's clone or not. Assuming the 'Final Boss' is the Unique Monster's clone, that is.
With that thought in mind, I go ahead and enter the door. Following which I find myself appearing in a wasteland.
My eyes narrow at my surroundings.
The Domain itself seems to be a massive wasteland of death full of miasma and undead. Without even a single living thing in sight.
I continue looking around for a bit before focusing on a message that appears in my vision.
Graveyard of Death
You have entered the System Tower's second Domain. The following objectives have been unlocked.
Complete objective 1 or all of the objectives to conquer the second Domain.
Complete 1 or more objective to leave the second Domain.
All objectives will give an unspecified number of points towards your final System Tower score.
Floors of the System Tower will vary depending on your total point score when arriving at them.
Objective 1: Kill the Gravekeeper.
Objective 2: Kill all monsters within the Graveyard.
Objective 3: Kill all Undead Drakes within the Graveyard.
Objective 4: Find the Jewel of Death.
Objective 5: Survive for 12 hours within the Graveyard of Death.
Those objectives are all rather familiar…
Are all the Domain quests going to be this similar across the different Domains?
I purse my lips at that thought for a few seconds before eventually shrugging.
Whatever.
I go ahead and turn my attention to the monsters around me. All while briefly wondering where this graveyard even is.
Because all I can see around me is just a barren wasteland and nothing more.
Well, other than the monsters.
Speaking of the monsters, I focus on the monsters and begin identifying them.

Um, they're all the same species? But they all look different…
There are what look like ghouls, floating spirits whose figures I can't even see as they're draped in black, ripped cloaks, and even zombies and skeletons.
But they are all apparently of the same species?
Also, they have more potential skills than the timeworn clockwork golems had.
Which is saying something since those things had more skills than most of the other competitors I fight against in the Official System Events already.
I go ahead and begin tearing them apart with my bare hands, only to find that they just don't want to die. Even after I rip their heads off and separate them into their respective body parts.
Not even when I crush their heads and brains. Assuming they have brains, since some don't.
It isn't until I annihilate them with my Gaze of Destruction that they finally die.
And after doing that I realize something.
My mana and energy are practically depleted right now. But I'm not being given a break between the Domains.
And I have to clear nine more Domains like this.
I purse my lips while destroying the undead with just my Gaze.
Huh…
Well this is going to be difficult.
I begin erasing the monsters with my Gaze, only to notice something.
Why is the ash moving?
I'm getting messages about both their deaths and my getting new Skill Trees from them, which means they're actually dying. So what's going on with their ashes?
I keep killing more of them while keeping an eye on their ashes. Only to eventually find the ashes merging to form a massive gravestone.
Oh.
That's why this is a graveyard.
