Attention Sir, I Have Your Heart Handcuffed!
Chapter 39. Hard to speak
CHAPTER 39: 39. HARD TO SPEAK
"You’ve brought quite a few."
But Tang Yanxi showed no mercy: "In the four years you’ve been with the police, the number of women you’ve brought to me for free representation is in the dozens."
Those were all suspects his brother originally intended to arrest, but later his brother became soft-hearted, bringing them to him to help them avoid deportation or jail.
Tang Yanqing quickly raised the white flag: "Brother, I surrender. I won’t argue with the lawyer anymore, I admit defeat."
Tang Yanxi sighed: "Young master, I’m the one who should admit defeat. I know you have more tricks up your sleeve, just playing this little game won’t satisfy you."
.
Shi Nian drove back to the company in a huff, with no idea how to vent her pent-up frustration. Just as she parked, she saw Xiang Yuan waving at her, then locking the car and walking towards her.
Shi Nian let out a slow breath.
Alright, today it is.
Xiang Yuan had made a reservation. A seaside spot, with a view of blue skies and the ocean, pure white sails dotting the sea. The whole scene was elegant and exquisite, fitting Xiang Yuan’s usual style.
A waiter in a crisp white shirt brought the dishes on a silver tray, the sound of wine opening was rich and smooth. He poured the wine holding the bottle with a pure white napkin, bowing gracefully: "Sir, madam, I hope you enjoy a wonderful afternoon."
Perfect, like a dream.
Xiang Yuan looked over with a smile: "Try it. Their skills are excellent."
Shi Nian had no appetite, just sipped a bit of the red wine to muster her courage.
"A Yuan, did you see the little note I put in the suit I couriered to you?"
Xiang Yuan was in the middle of cutting his steak, and his shiny silver knife paused slightly at the words, then continued cutting firmly: "No, what note? Saying you miss me?"
Shi Nian put down her knife and fork completely, looking up.
"A Yuan, what the note said was—let’s separate."
"What did you say?" Xiang Yuan dabbed his lips with a napkin, putting it down calmly before looking up: "Shi Nian, you said you want to separate from me? Did I hear that right?"
His gaze held disbelief, but more than that—it was amused. He truly seemed on the verge of laughing.
Shi Nian turned her head away: "A Yuan, after all, the way we are now is hardly different from being separated, what’s missing is just a legal procedure."
Xiang Yuan’s gaze finally cooled down: "You can’t possibly mean you want a divorce, right?"
Shi Nian took a deep breath: "Yes. But I know my mother’s treatment costs a lot of money. I’ll find ways to make money, to pay back what I owe you as soon as possible."
Xiang Yuan suddenly snapped his fingers, and that perfect waiter hurried over: "What do you need, sir?"
"What do I need?" Xiang Yuan, always so good-natured, suddenly slammed his napkin down on the table with a clatter: "What did you serve us this afternoon? Steak? It looks like cowhide to me! I’ve spent so much money with such high expectations for your dishes, is this how you repay my investment?"
The waiter was struck dumb, helplessly looking toward Shi Nian.
Shi Nian whispered: "A Yuan."
"Shut up!" Xiang Yuan glared sharply: "Your tantrum this afternoon is because there’s something wrong with their dishes. Otherwise, with all this careful planning, how could I end up hearing you say such things?!"
Everyone in the restaurant turned their gazes on Shi Nian with a crash.
