Chapter 397: Everlasting Physique
CHAPTER 397: EVERLASTING PHYSIQUE
After that, they didn’t waste much more time there. The White Whale had to report this matter to the other elders.
Even though the issue with Ilaris didn’t concern them directly, one of their own important descendants had also been taken. This could damage their entire honor and reputation.
Especially if the world found out that the Corruption Worshipers could enter and leave their estate however they pleased—they would surely become a laughingstock.
Because of that, they had to treat the matter with the utmost seriousness.
Selera also returned to Olivia. Because of everything that had happened, she was a little tired and wanted to rest. Most importantly, none of this really concerned her.
Even though she very much wanted to hear Daniel’s answer, she knew now wasn’t the right time to ask again, and she didn’t want to take the risk.
Olivia had been with them the whole time, but since she didn’t care, it wasn’t her concern, and above all she wasn’t even capable of handling such matters, she had stayed silent and said nothing.
Both of them went back to their residences.
The same applied to Daniel and Andreas. Even though Andreas was deeply worried, there was nothing he could do.
At the moment, the two of them were sitting inside the palace where Andreas lived, drinking tea. Both of them were mentally exhausted and needed to rest.
"You don’t think they’ll hurt her, right?"
"Don’t worry, at least for the next two days there shouldn’t be any problem," Daniel lazily replied.
It was the hundredth time this boy had asked him that question, and his patience was wearing thin. At any moment he might just get up and beat him.
"I should’ve brought her with me. But... she wouldn’t have agreed anyway." Andreas sighed regretfully.
"If you like her that much, why don’t you just tell her? That way you’ll feel better, and I won’t have to listen to your whining anymore."
"I don’t know... I’m scared she’ll reject me... And honestly, you’re really bad at giving comfort."
"At worst, it’s just rejection, isn’t it? It’s not like she’ll suddenly become your enemy or something." Daniel sighed.
"But what if even our friendship is ruined? What do I do then? I’m sure I’d fall into depression." Andreas grumbled—he didn’t want to take any risks.
"If you keep going at this pace, one day you’ll lose her."
This time, Andreas didn’t say anything. He seemed lost in thought. Daniel also didn’t add anything else. After finishing his tea, he got up and went toward his bedroom.
On his bed, he sat cross-legged, closed his eyes, and tried to sense those small white orbs.
This palace was protected by many arrays, and right now he had free time. In other words, it was the perfect chance to obtain—or construct—the Everlasting Physique, whatever it was supposed to be.
Besides, his intuition told him he needed to raise his power. It had been a while since his strength had shown any growth, and he was unhappy about it.
But there wasn’t much he could do. At his level, even the smallest increase in strength could take months or years.
For national-rank Awakened or demi-gods, such a process could take decades or centuries.
He set aside his thoughts and focused all of his attention on the orbs. According to the Prophet’s explanation, all he needed to do was use the orbs to temper his body.
It took him some time to feel the orbs inside his body, but once he found them, he began moving them with his energy.
At the same time, he pressed on them with his energy, and they started melting like metal. Each drop that melted dripped onto his organs, cells, and every corner of his body.
Every drop burned with unbearable pain. For the first time in his life, he felt he’d rather die than endure this agony.
His eyes widened, the redness spreading within them. Feeling that he might scream at any moment, he bit the corner of his mouth to stop himself from crying out.
All of his veins swelled, inflating like balloons until they reached the point of bursting.
His skin turned completely purple, then red.
The entire process lasted until morning. All through the night, he was forced to endure that pain. By dawn, his body finally began returning to its normal state.
During the whole ordeal, he barely managed to keep his consciousness awake. Because of the unbearable pain, his brain kept trying to force him into unconsciousness.
But he couldn’t let that happen. Even a moment of fainting could ruin all of his efforts.
"I’m still alive." Daniel let out a sigh of relief as he looked over his body. All that pain had vanished, as if it had never existed.
[ Congratulations on obtaining the Everlasting Physique ]
[ Rank: ??? ]
[ Type: Body Structure ]
[ Description: A physique unparalleled since ancient times. The body that every body-temperer and those who walked the path of body cultivation dreamed of obtaining. A legend that has become reality. A body without any limits—the more it devours, the stronger it becomes. ]
He glanced at the Mother System’s notification, and a smile spread across his face. At least all that pain hadn’t been in vain—he had obtained something incredible.
"I need to test it." He didn’t feel a dramatic difference in strength, except that now it felt as if all the chains and restraints that limited him had been broken.
Now, nothing could restrict his physical power. Theoretically, even though he was only rank B, he could possess a body as strong as a demi-god’s.
Of course, logically that wasn’t possible. But at the very least, obtaining a body on par with S-rank while still being at his current rank shouldn’t be impossible.
But what he liked more was testing what he should feed this physique.
Because according to the Prophet, the best nourishment was living beings.
So from now on, he could probably devour those weak enemies of his who weren’t worthy of being turned into the Fallen.
Knock knock.
"Honored guest, breakfast is ready. The young lord requests your presence." A voice suddenly pulled him from his thoughts.
