Back to 1984: Let's Work Hard Together to Raise The Kids!
Chapter 135: The Daycare Order
CHAPTER 135: CHAPTER 135: THE DAYCARE ORDER
Lin Yi wholeheartedly agreed, "In the future, let’s deliver some leftover seafood from our shop to Sister Fang. We should also stay in touch during holidays and festivals."
Lin Qin nodded in agreement one by one.
The next day, when she took the kids to class, she brought a bag of seafood each for Sister Fang and Teacher Su. The bags contained fresh razor clams and shucked oyster meat, both fresh enough to last until noon without spoiling.
If it were other types of seafood, they definitely wouldn’t stay fresh until noon without a refrigerator.
Sister Fang saw the gifts and grinned widely, initially refusing to accept them.
After Lin Qin’s persistent urging, she finally accepted.
She asked Sister Fang to pass the gift to Teacher Su without approaching directly, fearing Teacher Su might decline.
When school was over, Lin Qin was the first to dash out of the classroom, grabbing her child and running off quickly.
Teacher Su looked puzzled, but as she passed by Sister Fang, she was stopped, "Lin Qin specifically asked me to give this to you, saying it’s to thank you for taking care of us."
Teacher Su opened the bag with a look of surprise, exclaiming, "Why did she bring me razor clams and oysters? What did I do?"
Sister Fang opened her bag and reassured her, "Just accept it, Teacher Su. This girl is genuine at heart, and her family is in the seafood business. If you don’t accept it, she’ll feel uncomfortable!"
With a helpless shake of her head, Teacher Su took the gift, pondering that she might need to give Lin Qin more "special attention" in the future—maybe find some extra study materials for her?
Lin Qin, already on her way back home, was completely unaware of Teacher Su’s considerations.
That afternoon she went to the senior university, just a few minutes before class started.
Sister Fang showed her the classroom in the childcare center which had been tidied up.
There are two classes in total, one at the front and another at the back. The two classrooms in between have been converted into a sleeping area for the kids, filled with small beds to prevent older kids from occasionally disturbing the younger ones in the smaller class.
The invited teachers were having a meeting inside, greeting Sister Fang warmly when they saw her.
Sister Fang brought Lin Qin inside and introduced her to the head, Ye Wenwen, "This is one of our students and her son. This child will be studying here too, hoping Teacher Ye and the other teachers can take good care of him."
Although Ye Wenwen just graduated from university and lacked social experience, she was smart and knew the person brought in by an administrator must have special significance.
She warmly chatted with Lin Qin, understanding the child’s situation and talked about the class schedule of the childcare center.
"Since the children in this class are mainly between six months and two and a half years old, we have further divided them. For children who do well in gross motor skills and language, we plan to have Teacher Xu look after them individually—teaching them songs, dances, and small games, and take them outside to play with sand and run around.
Of course, for outdoor activities, we must arrange two teachers to supervise.
For those babies who are not speaking much or can’t walk well, we’ll look after them separately, with different activities and interactions. These younger babies will be cared for by me and an aunt.
We don’t plan to take the little ones outside for activities. This area will be fenced off later and filled with foam pads, with a few small slides specially for them to play with. These items will be delivered tomorrow, and our official class time for the childcare center is next Monday.
Additionally, there’s the issue of the children’s meals. The childcare center has an aunt specifically responsible for cooking, whose salary is covered by the textile factory. She only cooks, we have to prepare the vegetables ourselves. None of us are from nearby, and we have no experience buying groceries, which is quite a hassle."
Ye Wenwen seemed embarrassed, but this issue needed to be addressed, so she conveyed it to Sister Fang.
Without hesitation, Sister Fang suggested Lin Qin, "What a coincidence! This Sister Lin in front of you runs a seafood wholesale business, so fresh seafood that you might not even be able to buy with money elsewhere can definitely be obtained from her. Their seafood is guaranteed to be top-notch fresh.
They also grow a lot of vegetables, which she can deliver directly too, at a cheaper price. As long as you look after their child well, these are not problems at all."
Lin Qin promptly nodded in agreement and laughed, "Sister Fang’s got it right. My family has no shortage of seafood. Whatever you want, we have it, including greens and eggs. It’s just that we don’t have many pigs, so we can’t slaughter them every day, but we do have chickens, ducks, and geese."
Ye Wenwen’s eyes lit up after hearing this, "It’s just meat that we’re short of, which can be managed. So how about... Sister Lin, could you let us know the ingredients you need in advance, and have them delivered the next morning?"
Lin Qin readily agreed, "I’ll have my family send it to you, I might be a little late."
After the discussion, Lin Qin felt that Ye Wenwen and the others were quite professional, so she paid the fee for one month, twenty yuan in total.
Over the weekend, to prepare her youngest son for childcare, Lin Qin specially went to the city to buy him a few sets of clothes, and also bought two sets of autumn wear for each of the older ones.
While wandering around, she unexpectedly saw that scoundrel Liu Yongming, and what shocked her more was that he was walking with An Meihua!
At that moment, Lin Qin was extremely surprised, with her mouth agape for quite a while, only snapping out of it when the two disappeared around the street corner.
When she got home, Lin Yi noticed her distracted demeanor and frowned, "What’s going on? Did you see a ghost?"
"Might as well have seen a ghost!" Lin Qin recounted how she saw Liu Yongming and An Meihua in the city.
This time, it was Lin Yi’s turn to lose his composure, "You’re saying those two scoundrels teamed up?"
Lin Qin nodded like a pecking chicken.
Lin Yi looked at her with a touch of sympathy, "Do you think the Liu family is inherently at odds with you? How come everyone with a grudge against you ends up gathering there?"
"I don’t know either!" Lin Qin shrugged innocently, furrowing her brow lightly, "Whether they’re together or not, I don’t care. What I fear is if they get transferred back here, we’ll have more chances of running into them. Dad, Liu Yongming is a dangerous person, and with you having two kids around, I’m worried!"
Lin Yi raised an eyebrow in disbelief at her, "What are you worrying about? Our family isn’t the same as before. Besides, the kids are growing, and we’re commuting to school on the main road. Unless Liu Yongming doesn’t value his life, he wouldn’t dare to acknowledge us."
Lin Qin was still uneasy and cautioned, "Anyway, pack something for self-defense in your tricycle when you’re out, just in case."
Lin Yi did not refuse the suggestion.
In the blink of an eye, it was Monday.
Early in the morning before Lin Qin went out, Huang Yuezhen delivered the seafood, eggs, and vegetables needed for the childcare center, along with the bill, to Ye Wenwen.
The aunt responsible for cooking initially expected to critique the delivery but ended up discovering it was genuinely fresh seafood, including boneless fish she had never seen before.
