CHAPTER 123: CHAPTER 123: TRIAL OF ENDURANCE( 2)

The attack was so powerful it bent the space around Ved, his lower body blew up and disappeared in the void, the pain traveled through the remaining part of his body, it was so intense it made his ears ring.

He wanted to roar but even his voice had died out. The following shockwave destroyed both his left and right heart completely leaving him with only a single heart.

His vision blurred and felt himself losing consciousness. His health bar had dropped to less than 2 percent, in this state he wouldn’t be able to handle another attack.

Before he completely fell unconscious he issued the command in his mind and quit. Then his vision turned dark.

When he opened his eyes, his body had completely healed, his energy was fully regenerated and he could feel his traits working again.

He was standing infront of a giant city gate with a dragon’s painting on it. Before him was an endless desolate landscape without a shrub of greenery.

The sky was covered by a vast sea dark clouds that stretched for as far as he could see, thunder roared and lightning flashed in the clouds above him, briefly shining light upon the endless army of beasts and humans that stood before him.

Ved knew what was going to happen next before he was even told and as expected. ( Welcome challenger to the trial of endurance no.2

Objective- stop the enemy army from reaching the gate before the time runs out.) Ved almost cursed, the army was way too large, covering every inch of the land all the way to the horizon.

Some beasts were as tall as mountains, others as small as mice, mixed in them were humans in armour and others in beasts hides, carrying all types on weapons. Fortunately the army was made up of only third rank beings, this trial was to test his endurance not strength.

A countdown appeared above his head and when he saw it he felt like punching the voice behind the tower.

How was he supposed to last 24 hours against an army this huge. However the trial did not care about his feelings.

With a loud gong of a bell, the army marched towards him. Calling it marching was not exactly accurate.

It was unorganised and incredibly fast. Each enemy was fast enough to casually break the sound barrier.

Sonic booms filled the air, creating shockwaves so powerful they ripped the ground apart.

Ved took a breath, lightning flashed above him, he opened his mouth and his spikes glowed.

The blue light filled the air making his dark body shine below the sea of dark clouds. Nuclear energy gathered in his mouth.

The temperature rose around him and the world seemed to slow down then he fired a beam of condensed nuclear energy.

It cut through the approaching army like a scythe, killing thousands of them at once. Ved flapped his wings and took to the skies, he continued firing the beam while flying above the army.

Everywhere the beam passed blue flames bloomed and incinerated everything around them.

Deep ridges formed on the battlefield. A flock of birds flew at him like missiles. Ved casually swung his arm and threw a nuclear blast at them.

The ball of nuclear energy exploded amidst the flock, blooming into a cloud of blue fire that incinerated every bird in a kilometre around it, the shockwave killed even more.

Then he dropped to the ground like a meteor and the moment he landed he swung his tail, shattering the beasts closest to him into pieces.

He created thousands upon thousands of strings and ran through the army, blood and body part filled the air and dyed the ground red wherever he passed.

He ripped them apart like he was harvesting wheat, none able to last a second against his strings.

He started enjoying this feeling of overwhelming strength, this dominance over the lives of others resonated with something deep inside him.

And he knew exactly what it was, what else could it be but his bloodline. Dragons sought dominance by nature, they marveled at their superiority.

However while lost in the pleasure of his superiority he forgot the purpose of the challenge. It was only when he felt an overwhelming sense of dread did he remember.

He turned and saw a tiny rat scattering towards the gate. It was only 5 metres away from it now.

Ved had unknowingly moved over 15 kilometres away from the gate, even though he was significantly faster than the rat, it was still moving at supersonic speed.

It was impossible to catch up to it by now, so he did the only thing he could. A bolt of purple lightning shot out from his mouth.

His first order extinguishing tribulation lightning was his fastest attack, as fast as natural lightning and this was only because it was limited by his will.

It cut through the air like a purple spear, the world turned purple and the air became super charged everywhere it passed.

The beasts and humans around it were electrocuted before they could even react. Faster than anybody could react, the bolt hit the rat and turned it body into ash.

The world seemed to stand still for a moment then lightning exploded. It expanded out like a net of lightning that incinerated everything a few kilometres around it.

The shockwave and heat that followed were so strong they reach him from over 15 kilometres away.

Without wasting another moment Ved kicked the ground and ran towards the gate and stood defensively infront of it.

The army continued charging mindlessly at him, disregarding their own lives, however he noticed their numbers didn’t seem to diminish even after he killed so many of them.

He then realised how stupid he was. The objective wasn’t to kill off the beasts but to prevent them from reaching the gate.

He created a huge spiked wall of wax on either side of himself. Then created two razor sharp giant disks as large as buses.

The disks started spinning rapidly but he was not done, he coated their sharp edges with with lightning, making them hotter and sharper as well, then sent them flying into the approaching army.

Blood and body part flew through the air wherever the two disks passed. With the range of Ved’s current soul sense, he could control the disks from tens of kilometres away.

Plus, they didn’t waste his stamina but using soul sense and telekinesis did require mental strength, so it was slightly mentally draining.

While the disks were cutting through the army like the scythe of death, he opened his mouth, a black mist slowly spilled out and spread gently above the ground.

The mist appeared to move slow but spread so fast it covered tens of kilometres in mere minutes. Wherever it passed, beasts and humans died in droves, their bodies turned black.

Their flesh and bones crumbled into black ashes in mere seconds. Not a single beast or human, no matter how large they were, could last more than a few seconds inside this mist.

Ved whispered in his head. ’ Black Death’
