CHAPTER 25: CHAPTER 25: OTHER SIDE

Somewhere else in the world a beautiful woman with a brown curly afro was sitting on a corpse of a house sizes yak. The yak was completely frozen in ice and so was everything in a few hundred metres around her.

" It’s getting worse" gulp gulp gulp, burp " Huh? What is?"asked another woman after chugging a gourd of wine. " Were you even paying attention Cat?"

" Ofcourse I was, you said something about something and that it was bad for something" " Maybe you should tone down the wine, it making you even dumber"

" No way, I’d rather be dumb than stop drinking, what the point in thinking anyways? I don’t think and I’m doing just fine" " You’re sitting half naked in a pile of corpses"

Catheliya took a look at her blood covered body and the four stories high mountain of corpses below her. " This is an intimidation tactic, so the stupid beasts would know not to mess with me"

Naledi sighed and ignored her stupid friend but deep down she was really worried, they’ve had more beast waves in the last 3 days than the last 2 years. She had a feeling this was a prelude to something bigger, something worse.

Strong as she was she was starting to get tired of this and without the protection of the city walls and the guns to thin out the weaklings it was completely up to them to kill them which was a waste of energy.

But she still did not regret her decision of leaving the city. It had been nine years since the apocalypse. While over 80 percent of humanity died in the first year alone there were still a lot of humans alive.

Afterall there were already around 13 billion humans before that day. While humanity was able to reorganize and create safe havens surrounded by giant steel walls they couldn’t fit in everybody.

So there were still humans left outside, infact she would say it most of them and it didn’t sit right with her to hide behind tall walls while people she could save suffer alone outside.

If it was up to her she would make it so every human had a vessel nurturing technique. Vessel nurturing techniques were like cultivation techniques from the novels Alex used to read.

When the world fell, tombs and inheritance sites which were previously hidden were discovered. The world grew larger, much larger.

The 7 continents grew to hundreds of times their original sizes, giant islands appeared all over the sea, some with long extinct creatures, some with mythical creatures and there were even previously never heard of creatures that were found.

The mountains grew taller and animals mutated becoming demonic beasts, some became spiritual beasts but beasts were beasts to her, they were all a danger to humans.

From these sites humans discovered techniques to create somethings called Life Bound Vessels. Humans lacked something fundamental to cultivate essence like other creatures so these vessels were their link to the world.

Unfortunately not every human found a vessel nurturing technique and those that did kept them to themselves. Human greed was still prevalent even when they faced dangers in every direction, which was disappointing.

It was unfortunate that her Celestial Snow Lily technique could not be taught, otherwise she would share it with others. Fortunately she did find a basic technique in that site and she shared that with everybody she could, even though it was very low grade.

This ofcourse pissed of those in power, not that she cared, none of them were brave enough to complain to her face. That was another reason she left the city.

The ground suddenly shook, she turned her head to look and from the distance she could see a line of carriages drawn by giant beasts. At the front of this long line was a woman sitting on top of a winged tiger playing a flute.

Walking next to her was a beautiful matured woman with a kind motherly aura, she had a green leaf stuck to her hair. This was Catheliyas mother, Cathra.

Protecting the back were two men who exuded terrifying auras. One was a dark skinned giant carrying a hammer larger than he was, the other was a man with long black hair, wearing a kimono with a Katana strapped to his hip.

There were other men and woman walking vigilantly alongside the carriages. This was the expedition force sent out to find more humans living in hiding outside the cities.

Before long they arrived next to her. " Oh dear, what happened here?" Asked Cathra looking at the corpses littering the ground. Naledi did not respond, her attention was fully on the carriages made of vines and flowers.

More specifically on what inside. There were probably thousands of people who arrived with the expedition. Most of those in the carriages were small children, the elderly, the sick and the wounded.

Those who were capable were walking alongside the expedition force. They all looked around in fear, at first she thought they were terrified by the huge monster corpses around them.

But then she noticed the fear was directed towards her and the other Vessel holders. " Why are they like this?" Cathra sighed " They went through a lot Naledi, give them time, once they get to see this place they’ll be fine"

Naledi frowned " Tell me what happened?" " Humans did" replied the flute lady called Siri. Naledis frown deepened and she looked at Haruko and he nodded without saying word.

She was asking if he took care of it, the nod meant whoever harmed these people would not do it again, probably because they can’t do anything else anymore.

Cat jumped off the corpse mountain and ran to hug her mother but fell face first. " Oh dear look at you" Cathra ran towards her daughter with a worried look.

Cat looked terrifying with blood covering her whole body but it was a bit comical when she fell. This caused the children and even some of the adults to giggle which lightened the mood.

She fell asleep right there on the ground " What am I going to do with you?" Cathra sighed. Naledi didn’t understand Cat, she was a monster when it comes to battle.

Naledi might be the strongest but Cat definitely had the highest battle sense and the drunker she was the stronger she got, however she was hopeless when it comes to anything else.

She would love to blame it on the alcohol vessel but the truth was even before the fall Cat had always been a hopeless airhead, luckily her father was rich so she never had to worry about money.

Naledi froze the corpse mountain, with so many new people they were going to need a lot of food. She saw a couple hugging each with worried faces and couldn’t help but remember him.
