Beast Evolution System: Devourer of Heaven
Chapter 27: War of Prey and Predator
CHAPTER 27: CHAPTER 27: WAR OF PREY AND PREDATOR
A giant claw collided with the ant, blasting a massive shockwave that sent him flying. He saw an army of giant anteaters running towards the ant’s army.
At the forefront was a humongous anteaters as tall as 4 stories high, this was the same one that just sent the rank 3 ant flying. The anteaters flickered their long sticky tongues eating multiple ants at once.
But the ants were no slouches either, they shot waves after waves of acid at the anteaters but it was not as effective as he had expected it to be.
It seemed like the anteaters fur was very resistant to the acid, which made sense, they eat ants for a living. However the more he looked at the anteaters the more pissed he got.
He could feel that the desire he had before originated from them. They were the ones who were manipulating and drawing him in and used him as bait.
What angered him the most was that he could see high intelligence from their eyes. Which meant using him as bait was not merely a survival instinct.
They did it deliberately, it was an active choise to put him in that situation. Infact he could swear the largest one looked at him mockingly.
He grinded his teeth in rage ’ One day I’ll get you back you overgrown rat.’ as much as he wanted to continue cursing at the abominable bastard the ants wouldn’t give him the chance.
He crushed a rank 1 ant into a pulp then continued crushing more and more of them. Any that got too close suffered the same fate. This drew the attention of others to him.
Hundreds of them ran towards him like maddened suicide soldiers. He was forced to run and dodge their mandibles. Although they weren’t strong enough to wound him including the rank 2 one, their mandibles still hurt.
They could directly transmit pain into his nervous system, it was a troublesome and insidious ability. Although the pain caused by rank 1 ants was insignificant, merely an inconvenience it was still not fun.
It was those above rank 1 whose bite hurt like a b***, especially the large rank 3. Although besieged by hundreds of ants he still had the leisure to watch the other battles.
It was brutal, ants died every second like...well ants. The anteaters could suck them directly into their mouths, only the rank 2 ones could fight back.
While the anteaters were resistant to their acid they could still feel pain. Every now and then an anteater would scream after being bitten by an ant or two which made him happy.
Ofcourse that was mostly between the rank 2 ones. Rank 1 ants were ridiculously weaker than rank 1 anteaters. However the anteaters were not in any serious threats as of yet.
But the most impressive fight was between the rank 3 ant and anteater. Each collision sent giant shockwaves around them which killed dozens if not hundreds of ants.
The anteater would occasionally try to suck the ant with it long snout but the ant was too powerful to fall to something like that so all it managed was sucking in air and rocks.
The ant sent acid shots like bullets but none managed to harm it opponent and the anteater responded but blowing a powerful compressed jet of air which drew a long trench on the ground.
Their bodies were moving so fast the air exploded wherever they passed. The most terrifying thing was that they could constantly maintain such speed.
Ved knew he wouldn’t be able to win against either of those two creatures. He was starting to realise how vast the difference between rank 2 and 3 was.
He could feel their will over the entire battlefield, he could smell the essence coursing through their bodies and it was thicker and more abundant than he had expected.
Their battle was synonymous of a natural disaster. Over 4 kilometres around them was covered in dust and craters. He suddenly heard a screech.
The anteater ripped one of the ants wings and antenna and it response by biting it tongue. While the ant suffered more damage he bet the anteater was feeling way more pain.
He checked the other fights and they were not nearly as interesting. The only time an anteater was in danger was when a young one grew too confident and attacked a rank 2 ant.
But it merely suffered a small wound before it was rescued by what he assumed was it mother based on the reprimand it was obviously getting.
He might not understand their language but he could realise an angry mother, even though he never had one he remembered how miss Cathra was when her daughter messed up, which was always.
Thinking about them he started to reminisce before being brought back to reality but a painful sting in his leg. He bit off the head of the rank 2 ant that just bit him.
The anteater leader roared to the skies, the rest of it family followed. He was confused by this, the fight was not over why would they all stop to roar.
Suddenly the wind around him picked up, it was slow at first but it grew stronger and faster by the moment. The ant corpses rose to the air.
But the living ants were still resisting the pull, then the air started spinning and gathered infront of the leader. ’ Oh shit.’ he knew what this was.
A tornado appeared and started growing larger and stronger. In mere seconds it was already dozens of metres wide. It was pulling every ant around him even the rank 2 ones.
Even he felt himself being pulled. The tornado grew darker and denser, it power grew to insane levels. He could smell the essence emanating from it.
Strands of essence were also connected to all the other anteaters, the entire family was fuelling this technique. His body started to rise.
In panick he dug his claw into the ground and held on for dear life. Luckily he was over 5 kilometres away so the pull was not as strong on him.
The ants on the other hand were too weak to hold on and the rank 3 one was too close. The tornado lasted for dozens of minutes before fading.
The ant corpses fell into the ground, the last ant alive was the rank 3 but it was battered and at deaths door. Just as the anteater was about to finish it off it released a loud grating death cry.
Dead silence followed for a few moments then a much louder and more powerful screech echoed. ’ Oh no, mama mad.’
