Beast Evolution System: Devourer of Heaven
Chapter 29: Battle of Queens and The Bloodmoon
CHAPTER 29: CHAPTER 29: BATTLE OF QUEENS AND THE BLOODMOON
The ant queen flapped it four wings and floated in the air. The deer lowered it head and pawed the ground preparing to charge.
Ved paid attention not wanting to miss a single detail from a fight of this level. Then they both disappeared, the next moment a giant shockwave blasted the area spreading for kilometres even reaching him.
Amidst the dust and shockwave he was able to see their flickering figures. Both had moved so fast his eyes could not even follow them.
He activated the flash trait and since he was not moving but only using it to enhance his perception the stamina expenditure was not as extensive.
With it he was barely able to follow them, after that collision they were both sent flying back but the deer obviously lost out in that exchange.
But he should’ve expected that, the ant queen was an entire rank above the deer or maybe a minor level, he was not sure how that was calculated.
The deer was definitely at the peak of rank 3 while the ant queen was at the early stage of rank 4 so the difference should not be that large especially with the difference in their bloodline grades.
He turned his attention back to them, balls of green acid floated around the ant queen, they were so acidic he could feel them from kilometres away.
The tall grass sizzled and slowly turned to dust. Then it attacked, the acid balls flew at the deer like giant bullets, their speed so fast he couldn’t even see them.
In response the deer stomped it front foot on the ground, dozens roots thicker than a grown man grew from the ground and danced in the air like whips.
The roots blocked and slapped the acid balls away but eventually the acid ate through them. The deer started running towards the ant queen while dodging the acid bullets.
Roots kept growing around it to block the acid bullets it couldn’t dodge. When it was about to reach the ant queen the giant ant queen opened it mouth.
From it came out a flood of green acid as high as 12 metres tall. The ground sizzled as the acid ate through rock. The deer stopped and crouched.
Green vines grew around it and rapped it body in a ball, green light radiated from these vines then it was completely submerged. When the acid flood ended the vine barrier appeared.
It had been eaten through and was filled with holes but the deer inside was completely fine. The ant queen tried to fly up but vines and giant roots grew and binded it.
It was dragged back to the ground, it burnt the vines and roots with acid then flew towards the deer who met it head on with antlers.
The deer was sent flying backwards, a piece of it antlers had been snapped by ants mandible. The ant queen chewed and swallowed that piece as if mocking the deer.
But it did not seem to be fazed by that. Instead it antlers radiated a green light, he expected some big power up or attack but he was left disappointed as nothing happened.
The antlers merely radiated a soft ethereal light like a decoration. ’ What a let down.’ Their battle continued, shaking the entire battlefield.
Not a single creature present was brave enough to interfere. The difference in ranks was a huge chasms and it seems the one between bloodline grades was as well.
Even though it four subordinates were all at the peak of rank 3 they were still many times weaker than it. He was sure even if all four of them fought it together they would lose, badly.
While lost in his thoughts something changed, the acidic aura intensified, so much so that he could swear he was burning. Even though he knew it was an illusion his mind still convinced him he was being burnt by acid.
His body shook in fear, he almost ran away but stopped himself and turned back to look, which made no sense since he could see in a 300 degrees angle but he still did it. The giant ant was surrounded by a hazy dark green haki that reeked of rot and decay.
The aura emanating from it was so powerful his mind find it hard to tell it’s an illusion. He looked at the deer expectantly, he was rooting for it.
Afterall his life, all of their lives infact depended on it winning this fight, if it dies, they all die. He was not disappointed, the burning acidic aura disappeared replaced by a calm soothing forest like aura, the deer had activated it haki as well.
He breathed a sigh of relief but still chose to back off and move a bit further. The fight was about to get way more intense and he did not want to be caught in the middle.
He underestimated how intense it would get. A giant ball of acid gathered above the ant queen and continued growing until it was a 100 metres in diameter.
Seeing this he moved even further away, he was already 9 kilometres away but his cautious self didn’t think that was enough. He stopped a few more kilometres away from them.
He doubted the fight would reach him from this distance. Fortunately his eyesight was really good, even from this distance he could still see the fight clearly even though it was dark.
In response the deer stomped it from feet on the ground and cracks spread on the ground for hundreds of metres around it, from those cracks grew tiny tree saplings.
In only a few moments the saplings has grown into giant tree golems. The golems looked like giant versions of the deer and there were four of them.
He doesn’t know why but he had expected golems would look like humans but this made more sense, why would a deer make a humanoid golem?
The ant queens antennas twitched and the giant acid ball fell like a meteor. The four golems threw themselves at it and the two forced reached a temporary stalemate.
The ground beneath them shattered and giant winds howled for kilometres around them. The deer golems were being pushed back.
The acid ball had eaten through them and was gaining an advantage, Ved grew nervous. If the deer loses he would be royally f***ed as well, he contemplated running but as a former die hard anime fan, a fight like this was too tempting to miss.
Just as the acid ball was about to break through it stopped and shattered. The place grew silent, even he was confused then a small brown root grew out of the ant queens body.
He recognised it, this was the piece of the antlers it ate, no wonder he didn’t see anything when it antlers glowed, it was happening inside the ants stomach.
The ant queen fell on the ground and picked up dust, he let out a breath he didn’t even know he was holding. He was glad the deer won. The fight was too long and stressful even though he was not the one fighting.
It had even lasted until nightfall. Just as he about to relax the dark clouds above parted then a system notification followed. ( WARNING: The hour of the Bloodmoon has arrived, System advise host URGENTLY finds a hiding hole until it passes) ’ Well that doesn’t sound good.’
