CHAPTER 18: MASS MURDER

"Are you so scared you can’t talk? Who told you to flaunt your wealth so shamelessly in front of me, attracting my ire? Now we are going to strip you off of all your valuables and kick you out in the streets penniless. Heh, you wouldn’t have ended up in this mess if you hadn’t arrogantly revealed you had silver. You only have yourself to blame," Temperance sneered.

Ray’s gaze sharpened as he warned coldly, his confidence boundless, "You’re messing with the wrong person."

His warning fell on deaf ears. Temperance and the thugs she had brought along only saw his confidence as a weak man’s desperate attempt to bluff his way out.

"Who you are, the entire town knows. Don’t bother threatening us, brat. We know you’re nothing special," said a man with a fang-shaped tattoo on his arm.

’Looks like they haven’t heard about my most recent battle. So they don’t know I beat up an iron-rank beast tamer.’ Ray glared, "I’ll warn you once again—

I am not someone you can afford to mess with. Back off. Otherwise, don’t blame me for being ruthless!"

His patience was wearing thin.

If they still didn’t listen, he would have no choice but to take action.

"Hahaha!"

Temperance and her thugs laughed loudly, looking down on him contemptuously.

"Who are you kidding?"

"How can a commoner defeat a beast tamer?"

"You’re delusional!"

They made disdainful remarks about him, ignoring that with each word they spewed his face turned darker and darker.

"Ignorant fools." Ray hurled curses at them. Seeing that none of them took him seriously, he was done being patient with them. "Since you want to court death, then come. I’ll do the world a favor and send scum like you to hell personally."

At his words, Temperance took great offense.

She ordered, "Brother, he’s in over his head! Get him, teach him a harsh lesson! Cut his arms and legs for me! I want to kill him myself, torture him to death!"

Following her command, the thugs surrounding Ray bared cruel smiles, their faces twisting into feral expressions like bloodthirsty beasts.

Without another word, they pounced on him.

Temperance also attacked him. She might have looked weak and frail, but in her hand gleamed a pair of sharpened scissors, sharp enough to stab a man to death. She was no less deadly than the thugs who came at Ray with knives.

As they all charged at him, Ray’s eyes flashed with a murderous glint as he cursed, "Dumb dogs. Courting death!"

His arms whipped through the air, moving so fast they seemed like afterimages.

Pah! Pah! Pah! Pah!

Everyone around him was slapped hard.

He held nothing back when he attacked. The power behind each of his slap carried over two thousand pounds of force, enough to smash stone.

The thugs felt like they had been hit head-on by a beast-driven carriage. One by one, their bodies were lifted from the ground and hurled through the air like ragdolls, crashing into walls with explosive impacts.

"Arghhh!"

"Ughhh!"

"Uwaaaghhh!"

Mournful screams, sharp and shrill like pigs being butchered, echoed throughout the hall as the thugs crashed into the walls one after another.

Temperance fared the worst.

When Ray’s palm connected with her face, she let out a terrified, pig-like squeal as her body was ripped off the ground, spinning wildly through the air before crashing through the window. Her screams cut short as she plummeted to her death.

[You have killed an ordinary mortal. You have gained +1 EXP.]

The thugs were still alive, groaning in pain. Starting from the closest, Ray walked up to each of them one by one, his palm falling coldly on the back of their heads. With one precise strike after another, he ended them where they lay miserable.

[You have killed 9 ordinary mortal. You have gained +9 EXP.]

He needed 80 EXP to reach level 4. Dealing with these scums had already earned him ten.

Ray searched the corpses and their rooms, gathering a few dozen silver coins. Most of these people lived hand-to-mouth and didn’t have much. His greatest gain came from looting Temperance—ten silvers in total.

He tossed her corpse back into the dilapidated house and prepared to erase all evidence that could be used to incriminate him.

In the eyes of society, he was still just a commoner. It was too soon to clash with the local authority.

"Deep Blue—Shockwave."

A blue light pulsed beneath his clothes as his armor answered his call, channeling his magic power.

BOOM!!!

A thunderous explosion resounded, shaking the air, as an invisible shockwave erupted from Ray, slamming into the tilted building with the force of a natural disaster.

BAM!!!

The fragile structure collapsed instantly. The walls crumbled, the roof caved in, and every corpse inside was buried beneath stone and rubble.

Now, even if the authorities came across the site, they would mistake it for an unfortunate accident rather than a one sided massacre that the last remaining tenant was forced into.

Furthermore, there were no witnesses.

After all, the muders happened in a pretty isolated place and Ray had made sure no one was around before blowing up the building.

He lifted his feet and went to look for a new place to stay.

With the dozens of silver he had stolen from the dead scums, he was sure it would be easy to find a nice place to live in in this town.

Killing a dozen people didn’t affect his mood.

They were given the chance to save their lives.

It was them who refused to accept it in their arrogance.

He only replied their cruelty with cruelty.

He wasn’t in the wrong.
