Beast Tamer Era: Capturing SSS-ranks with the Strongest Taming System
Chapter 25: One against fifty!
CHAPTER 25: ONE AGAINST FIFTY!
"Human, we are going to make you pay dearly for your crime against my pack," the Demonized Alpha Wolf growled.
Ray felt a bit taken aback, seeing it speak in the common tongue of the humans of this era, for unlike demonic spirits, most demonic beasts lacked the intelligence to understand human language, and even if they somehow managed to comprehend it, they still wouldn’t be able to speak like humans, as their vocal cords and the human tongue were simply not compatible with each other.
’Its ability to speak like a human, despite being only an iron rank demonic beast, proves that it had lived a colorful and unusual life. It’s really something.’ Ray thought, ’As expected of a commander type beast.’
"To be able to speak the human language so fluently, you are impressive," Ray said to its face. His tone then sharpened as he said, "It’s a pity that a genius among beasts like you will be dying today, alongside your entire pack."
The demonized Alpha Wolf immediately snapped back at him.
"You were fleeing from us like a frightened cat not long ago, and now you dare claim you can take us down? It’s clear to me that you are spouting nonsense."
It added with unrivaled conviction, "Your pathetic bluff has failed. Now... surrender your life."
Awooo!
It lifted its head and released a howl before charging towards him.
Awooo! Awooo! Awooo!
Following its howl, all the demonized wolves gathered in the cave also sprinted towards Ray on all fours.
Ray rolled his eyes, "You are too intelligent for your own good."
He waved his hand.
As if that simple motion contained some mythical power, powerful gusts of wind manifested close by and surged forward, crashing into the incoming demonized wolves one after another.
The Demonized wolves felt as if they had been hit by strongly swung hammers. They were lifted off the ground and forcefully tossed across the cave like ragdolls.
Some crashed into the walls. Some fell on their backs. Some landed face-first, shedding invisible tears as the pain and humiliation felt too much to bear.
’It barely cost me 150 MP to pull that off. I still have over 700 magic power left. Not to mention, I am recovering 10 units of magic power every second. This fight is going to be a piece of cake!’ Ray thought.
Grr!
With a howl from their alpha, the demonized wolves swiftly got back on their feet quickly after being thrown away, and then they growled at him threateningly.
"I have had enough of your threats," Ray said as his body tensed up like a drawn bow.
His mouth opened up, revealing the fire swirling at the back of his throat.
Without giving them the chance to react, his head snapped forward.
Max Power Fire Dragon Breath!
His cheeks puffed up as an highly intense flame burst out of his mouth, spreading out in the shape of a wave, almost instantly washing over the demonized wolves nearest to him, turning them to ashes.
Only their cores remained behind, as even flames with temperatures over 1000 degrees Celsius weren’t enough to melt demonic cores. They were just too tough.
[You have slain 5 Advanced Stage Demonized Wolves and 10 Intermediate Stage Demonized Wolves. You have gained +300 EXP.]
The flame wave was still going strong, threatening to finish the rest of the pack, including the pack’s alpha.
The wolves trembled in terror, watching death approach.
Awooo!
In that moment, a mighty howl burst out of their midst, snapping them out of their dread-induced daze.
"Human, you aren’t the only one with trump cards," the Demonized Alpha Wolf said arrogantly.
A blue wave surged out of the its head and clashed against the flame wave as it used all its magic power to halt its advance, but even its best efforts were not enough as the blue wave, formed of its magic power, began thinning rapidly, burning away as the flame wave tried to force its way through it.
Suddenly, the flame wave that had been gaining the advantage in the clash began to get pushed back. The rest of the wolves had released their magic power to support their alpha in its quest to suppress Ray with sheer might.
When Ray saw this, he couldn’t help but praise.
"What leadership. What cooperation. If this is what a mere commander-type demonic beast can bring to the table, how great would owning a king-type demonic creature feel?"
His eyes narrowed.
"Now, shall I get serious?"
Although it seemed like he was losing, the truth was he hadn’t gone all out.
Seeing his flame wave get pushed back by the combined effort of the Demonized Wolf Pack, he grinned slyly, manifesting gusts of wind.
The gusts were like adding fuel to the fire, greatly boosting the might of his flame wave, and it stopped being pushed back.
In the end, neither side gained the advantage, as the two attacks canceled each other out.
"You didn’t expect that, did you?" The Demonized Alpha Wolf looked at Ray contemptuously. "Now that even your trump card has failed against us and you’ve run out of magic power, it’s time you die!"
In its long life, it had hunted countless humans, including dozens of beast tamers, so it knew very well that humans did not possess vast reserves of magic power like demonic creatures. Ray had used one big move after another, exhausting it and its entire pack of their magic power. It was certain he had no magic power left either. It had no idea that Ray’s magic power was in the several hundreds comparable to a bronze rank beast!
With its pack, it foolishly rushed forward, intent on ripping him to shreds.
"Who said I’ve run out of magic power?" Ray chuckled.
Seeing his confidence, a wave of foreboding washed over the demonized wolves’ hearts.
But it was too late to retreat!
Suddenly, tiny vortexs of winds appeared around Ray out of thin air, swirling and compressing under his expert control until they transformed into bullets, each no bigger than half a fingernail.
"Die!" Ray roared.
The wind bullets rained down on the demonized wolves with an intensity no less lethal than a machine gun unleashed in a battlefield, piercing through the demonized wolves before they could even react.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
One after another, the demonized wolves collapsed lifelessly to the ground. A bloody hole had been forced opened in each of their skulls. It marked the cause of their death, and from it hot blood flowed out.
