CHAPTER 50: MIGHT OF THE AZURE WIND SKILL

It was truly unfair to see iron-rank beasts possess complete immunity to fire.

With his level 2 Fire Dragon Magic, Ray couldn’t harm the Mystical Fire Apes.

He also couldn’t engage them in close combat, as they fought such battles while igniting their bodies in searing 1,200°C crimson-orange flames.

He could only rely on his Azure Winds skill to deal with them, as he had no flying weapon left. The last one had been destroyed in his battle with the fiends.

It was worth mentioning that before his Wind Manipulation skill upgraded, they had been a very strong counter to his very existence, but now the situation had changed. It had changed entirely in his favor, making him feel relieved and excited!

"With the Azure Wind Skill, killing the fools who are besiging me... will be a walk in the park," Ray smirked confidently.

His skill had upgraded silently.

The Mystical Fire Apes didn’t notice the massive improvement he had undergone. Thinking that two hands couldn’t stand against several dozen razor-sharp, fiery claws, they ignited their bodies in scorching hot flames and attacked him.

"You seriously think you can overcome me with numbers. How laughable!"

Watching dozens of beasts enveloped in high temperature flames close in from all sides, not a hint of nervousness flashed in Ray’s gaze.

The confident smirk on his face remained the same. His eyes glowed green, marking the moment he put his newest skill into play. Disdain mixed in as he spoke in a voice that was neither hurried nor slow, revealing exactly what he truly felt about the Mystical Fire Apes.

"Your intelligence is pathetic. You have blindly thrown yourselves into the maw of death, sealing your fate. Pay for your stupidity with your lives. Die!"

As soon as his words fell, faint azure-green streaks flashed into existence all around him, twisting like tentacles and rapidly condensing into tangible shapes. Dozens of azure wind blades formed around him, each one shooting out like arrows loosed from titanic war bows, so fast they were but blurs in the eyes of the many Mystical Fire Apes attacking Ray. With rays of azure-green crisscrossing through them, they were chopped down before they could even understand what had happened. Limbs flew. Blood sprayed. Heads detached and fell. The azure wind blades carved through their bodies like grass before a scythes.

EEEEEKK!

The surviving Mystical Fire Apes howled in terror, scattering in every direction, developing an intense fear of him.

Ray’s Azure Wind Blades pursued them mercilessly, striking them dead one after another.

A roar unlike any before—deep and deafening—erupted from the depths of the Mystical Fire Ape’s territory as a colossal figure leapt high into the air. The rising sun shone behind it as it came crashing straight down toward Ray.

Whoosh!

Ray leapt back with such terrifying strength that two deep footprints were left where he stood an instant ago. Even then, he barely avoided getting blown to bits by the fifty-foot-tall titan ape that crashed into the ground like a meteor.

Boom!

The impact split the earth apart, creating a deep crater, as a shockwave ripped outward, raising dust a hundred feet into the air and sending shards of stone flying everywhere like shrapnel from an exploding mountain.

Some of those jagged stone shards hurtled straight toward Ray.

His eyes glowed green.

An Azure Wind shield materialized before him in a flash.

Thunk! Thunk! Thunk!

The shards struck against it simultaneously and shattered harmlessly.

WRAAAAH!

With a loud roar from the titan ape, the dust clouds parted violently as serpents of pure fire surged out, their jaws opening wide to swallow him whole.

"Want to eat me?" Ray snorted. "Eat this!"

With a thought from Ray, the Azure Wind shield shattered into pieces.

Each piece shot out with terrifying force as he flicked his finger, slicing apart the fire serpents, causing them to explode.

Their speeds didn’t slow down as they hurtled toward the titan ape in the distance.

The titan ape had bright red fur. Flames danced wildly across its body, and its eyes glowed a deep scarlet, blazing with unrestrained rage.

It was the Chieftain of the Mystical Fire Apes, the lord of this territory of the demonic creatures.

Ray’s massacre of its kin had enraged it beyond measure. It had come personally to crush the intruder and avenge its fallen brethren.

In its massive hand it carried a charred stone club, wreathed in flames so hot the very air around it warped, bending light as if reality itself was about to melt.

Bam!

It slammed its club into the ground. Flames erupted from the ground, forming a fiery dome around it. The azure wind shards crashed into it with explosive force, but failed to pierce through, melting away like ice under the sun. However the impacts brought it close to shattering and cracks spiderwebbed across its surface.

OOH-OH-OH!

The titan ape bellowed victoriously while striking its chest, having succefully protected the remaining members of its tribe, buying enough time for the weaker mystical fire apes to scatter into the trees. Only once they were safe did the titan ape lower its dome-shaped shield made of fire and rush toward Ray, fury burning in its crimson eyes.

Its steps shook the earth. Every one of its stride was thunderous.

Ray enveloped himself in a layer of skin made of Azure Wind Shield, amplifying his defence to a terrifying level, the. He went ahead to confront it head on. "Let’s see who’s stronger."
