Beast Taming: Slaughter Atlas
Chapter 112: The Slaughterhouse
CHAPTER 112: CHAPTER 112: THE SLAUGHTERHOUSE
Chu Chen purchased only a bare shell apartment, which still needed renovation before moving in.
Fortunately, the sales center offered several renovation companies to choose from.
With Lin Yu’s recommendation, Chu Chen chose a relatively reliable renovation company.
Chu Chen was quite satisfied with the renovation plans provided by the company.
There weren’t many changes needed, and the renovation could be completed in about half a month. The materials and furniture were very eco-friendly, so he could move in right after the renovation.
He also asked the company to purchase the furniture, with a total cost of around 1.2 to 1.3 million.
This level of renovation was just average, but it was enough for Chu Chen.
Living in a small villa was more than he had ever dared to dream before.
After handling the house matters, Chu Chen headed to the Cyan Dragon Daoist School to continue his cultivation.
Calm days always pass quickly, and in the blink of an eye, half a month had already gone by.
Today, he received two pieces of good news. The first was that the new house had been renovated and was ready for occupancy.
The second was that the arrangements for the slaughterhouse were complete, and he could take over today.
Led by Ji Mingyue, the two of them went to the slaughterhouse.
When Chu Chen saw the slaughterhouse, he was completely stunned.
The entire facility was brand new, and it was very close to the Cyan Dragon Daoist School. Using such a location for a slaughterhouse felt like a total waste.
He had originally planned to acquire a second-hand slaughterhouse, as he just wanted to gain Slaughter Value, but now the situation was beyond his control.
"Ming Yue, is this slaughterhouse newly built?" Chu Chen asked, somewhat incredulous.
Ji Mingyue smiled and replied, "Of course, my grandfather personally saw to it, so they had to do it well."
"How much did it cost to build this slaughterhouse?" Chu Chen asked, feeling a little guilty.
"Not too expensive, probably over ten million," Ji Mingyue said nonchalantly.
"What? That much?"
"Yeah, I think it’s reasonable."
Hearing this, Chu Chen shook his head helplessly, thinking if he had known, he wouldn’t have bought the house.
After a moment of silence, Chu Chen forced himself to say, "You know I just bought a new house. I still have a few million on hand. I’ll pay you back the rest later, okay?"
Ji Mingyue waved her hand dismissively, "No need to pay back anything. This slaughterhouse is a gift to you. The staff and management are already in place. Rest assured, they’re absolutely trustworthy."
Chu Chen hurriedly objected, "This can’t be. I can’t accept such a heavy gift without merit."
Ji Mingyue’s face turned serious, and she said a little displeased, "You saved me in the Secret Realm again. Isn’t my life worth at least as much as this slaughterhouse?"
"We are friends, it’s natural to help each other. You’re making this too distant."
"Hmph, you said we’re friends and should help each other. This slaughterhouse means nothing to me. It’s a gift for you. Just accept it. If you keep being polite, I’ll get mad." She then put on a pretend angry face.
Chu Chen pondered for a moment before saying in a serious tone, "How about this: my main purpose in buying the slaughterhouse is to help Lei Yao with his psychological issues. To be frank, I just need a job at the slaughterhouse. You can keep the ownership and profits for the Ji Family, just give me a position."
Ji Mingyue recalled her grandfather’s instructions.
"Ming Yue, you have to give away this slaughterhouse. The Cyan Dragon Daoist School places great importance on Chu Chen. His future achievements will far surpass your imagination."
"Grandpa, we’re friends. I don’t want to turn our friendship into a transaction."
"Haha, silly child, you’re overthinking it. We’re just helping him as much as we can. We don’t expect anything in return, maybe just a favor. If he succeeds, it’s like insurance for our Ji Family."
Only after hearing this did Ji Mingyue agree.
She decisively shook her head, "The slaughterhouse is already registered in your name, so don’t refuse. If it bothers you, just consider it as owing me a favor."
Chu Chen shook his head helplessly. Since ancient times, favors have been the hardest debt to repay. But he truly regarded Ji Mingyue as a friend, so owing her a favor wasn’t a big deal.
In the end, Chu Chen agreed.
Ji Mingyue was naturally very happy.
The slaughterhouse would officially begin production the next day. Under Ji Jingfeng’s management, the supply channels, transport, and buyers were all arranged.
Chu Chen would be earning money without lifting a finger.
"Boss Chu, shall we go in for a look?" Ji Mingyue said with a smile.
Chu Chen rubbed his nose and replied helplessly, "Alright, as the owner, it’s only right to inspect my slaughterhouse."
Ji Mingyue made a call, and soon a middle-aged man came running over.
The middle-aged man had a kind face, wearing a neat suit, with a white shirt underneath, a dark blue tie, and shiny leather shoes—a classy white-collar look.
"Hello, Miss," the middle-aged man said respectfully.
Ji Mingyue nodded and said, "His name is Chu Chen, and he’ll be your boss from now on."
The middle-aged man immediately smiled and said, "Yes, Miss."
"Hello, Boss. My name is Lu Hao. I have twelve years of experience in slaughterhouse management. Let me show you our equipment and facility."
Chu Chen smiled and nodded.
An hour later, under Lu Hao’s guidance, they toured the entire slaughterhouse.
The equipment was new and advanced, and the facility was brand-new and well-made, definitely not cheap.
What touched Chu Chen the most was that the Ji Family had specially prepared a separate slaughter room just for him. It had great privacy, and Chu Chen only needed to do the slaughtering; the rest of the work would be taken care of by other workers.
"Brother Lu, I’ll leave the management to you from now on," Chu Chen said with a smile.
"You can count on me. I won’t disappoint you."
After spending an hour with him, Chu Chen found Lu Hao to be very genuine and dedicated to his work—someone trustworthy.
Before leaving, they exchanged contact information. If Chu Chen needed anything, he could notify him in advance, and Lu Hao could arrange for staff to take over Chu Chen’s work.
After leaving the slaughterhouse, he and Ji Mingyue went to their respective Daoist Schools for cultivation.
Ji Mingyue had signed up with the Vermilion Bird Daoist School. Her contract was B-level, but A-level and B-level didn’t matter much to her. What she really needed was the Vermilion Bird Daoist School’s treasure vault, which contained many things that money couldn’t buy.
A few minutes later, Chu Chen walked to the Daoist School. Upon entering, he noticed everyone’s eyes were focused in one direction.
Curious, Chu Chen also looked where everyone else was looking.
He saw a middle-aged man walking attentively beside a young girl.
The two were heading toward the door.
Chu Chen took a closer look and was immediately shocked.
The middle-aged man was Director Lu Hongfei, and the girl was a familiar face, Zhang Yuyan.
The appearance of these two at the same place surely attracted everyone’s attention.
