Beast Taming: Starting From Zero
Chapter 889: Beast Taming Inspector
CHAPTER 889: BEAST TAMING INSPECTOR
Beast Taming: Starting From Zero
“Xunxun~”
Little Treasure nodded, indicating no problem.
Practicing charm with his future little sister was way better than training with big brother Yabao.
“Qing qing.”
Just when Qiao Sang thought the matter was settled, Qingbao blinked her pure eyes and called out, asking if they could go out to find more practice targets for charm. Otherwise, practicing on only one target would be very boring.
Qiao Sang: ...
Honestly, she never expected Qingbao to bring up such a request.
“Xunxun.”
Little Treasure, acting like a big brother, patted Qingbao on the head and called out, meaning training is always like this, you’ll get used to it.
“Little Treasure is right,” Qiao Sang said.
“Training itself is boring. For charm, at least you still have a training partner. Many skills can only be practiced alone.”
“Qing qing.”
Qingbao listened and nodded, showing she understood.
Qiao Sang let out a breath of relief.
It seemed Qingbao just had her own ideas, but was still obedient in the end.
Then Qiao Sang thought of something and said: “There’s one last move, try Misty Terrain.”
“Qing qing.”
Qingbao sighed.
She couldn’t cast that either, since her energy wasn’t enough.
Qiao Sang comforted her: “It’s fine. Once you have enough energy, you can use it.”
Although Tailwind, Fairy Wind, and Misty Terrain were all advanced skills, the energy required for advanced skills wasn’t the same across the board.
Since Qingbao was only at mid-Beginner level, being unable to use Fairy Wind and Misty Terrain was normal.
Being able to train Tailwind to Mastery at this stage, with such control, was probably because her species was born as the wind’s darling.
“Qing qing.”
Qingbao nodded.
She thought the same.
“Qing qing?”
Then Qingbao turned her head to Little Treasure and sweetly called out, asking if they could start training now.
“Xunxun...”
Little Treasure looked at the ant he had just taken out and then at his future little sister.
“Qing qing...”
Qingbao noticed Little Treasure’s hesitation and looked disappointed.
So it’s not okay…
“Xunxun!”
Seeing this, Little Treasure immediately patted his chest and called out, saying they could practice right now.
He had to get along well with his future little sister!
That way, it would be easier to accept her as a little sister later!
“Qing qing~”
Qingbao smiled sweetly.
Practice began at once. Little Treasure took off his ring, ready to put the ant back inside.
At this moment, Qiao Sang spoke up: “Actually, you can use your Substitute to practice Misfortune Curse while your real body trains with Qingbao. If your real body gets charmed but your Substitute isn’t affected, then the training is successful.”
“Xunxun~”
Training with his real body was training; training with both Substitute and Clone was also training. Little Treasure had no objections and nodded.
After arranging Qingbao and Little Treasure’s training, Qiao Sang washed up quickly, sat at her desk, opened her computer, sent a message to Teacher Mikayla saying she had already left the secret realm, and then searched the No. 16 Secret Realm forum. She logged in and started a post:
#My Days in Secret Realm No. 16#
I was lucky enough to obtain a key to Secret Realm No. 16 and went in. I entered the territory of the Ancient Winged Bird, also the Frostbird’s territory, and even saw the Ancient Winged Bird with my own eyes...
This was another way to make money.
Instead of letting others post and profit, she might as well earn some herself.
Her fingers clattered as she typed a long post, then set it to paid reading.
---
The next morning.
At 9 a.m., Qiao Sang bought a new phone at a nearby shop, went to the business hall to get a replacement SIM card, inserted it, powered on, and called Teacher Mikayla.
The phone just kept ringing.
Finally, an automated voice said: “Sorry, the number you dialed is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later...”
Helpless, Qiao Sang returned to the third floor of the Beast Taming Center to submit her mission.
“You came out of Secret Realm No. 16 so quickly?” At the Assessment Office, the pot-bellied middle-aged examiner looked at the girl in front of him with surprise.
He saw many people every day, but this girl had left too strong of an impression. He immediately recognized her as the same girl who had accepted a mission earlier.
“It’s been over twenty days, not so quick.” Qiao Sang placed a vial of tears from the Penetrating Armor Beast on the desk.
“There are 500 grams of Penetrating Armor Beast tears in here, take a look.”
“One moment.” The middle-aged examiner, suppressing his urge to ask further, picked up the phone and dialed a number.
“This is the Assessment Office. Please come over now.”
He hung up.
The Beast Taming Center had professional appraisers who could verify materials’ authenticity and grade.
“Sit down, someone will be here shortly.” The examiner said.
“Okay.” Qiao Sang sat on the sofa.
“The secret realm still has three or four days before closing. Why not stay longer?” The examiner couldn’t help but ask.
Not all secret realms were the same.
Some were seen as hellscapes, others as lands of fortune.
Secret Realm No. 16 was the latter.
Though dangerous, the profits were worth it. So most people stayed until the realm closed.
“My mission is complete, and I had nothing else to do inside,” Qiao Sang explained calmly.
“More importantly, I still have other tasks. There are only about four months left until the regional competition. Counting this one, I’ve only completed five missions.”
The examiner immediately understood why she left early.
At her age, to have such strength, it wasn’t just talent, but also a wealthy background with abundant resources.
For her, resources weren’t the priority. Getting a spot in the regional competition was.
They chatted a little, then silence fell as they waited for the appraiser.
If it had been anyone else, the examiner would’ve gone back to his work. But with her identity, he couldn’t just ignore her.
After a pause, he suddenly felt a comfortable breeze pass through and said casually: “Feels like nice cool weather today.”
“Yeah.” Qiao Sang glanced outside and agreed.
The examiner followed her gaze and froze, the windows were tightly shut. He then looked at the door, also closed.
With both door and windows closed, where had the breeze come from?
“Knock knock!”
The examiner’s thoughts were broken by a knock on the door.
“Come in.” He said.
A gray-haired old man walked in.
“I’m here to appraise.”
The process was simple.
Three minutes later, the old man set down a test tube and said: “It’s genuine.”
He packed up his tools.
“Appraisal complete. I’ll be leaving.”
With that, he left the room.
The examiner sat at his computer, pulled up the records, and clicked approved.
“Your mission is cleared. I hope to see you at this year’s regional competition.”
“I will.” Qiao Sang smiled.
In less than two months, she had completed five missions. Now her Brain Domain had reached 50%, and she had contracted Qingbao. From here on, her missions should go even more smoothly.
---
At the Beast Taming Center.
First-floor lobby.
Window No. 26.
Qiao Sang handed over her Beast Taming Badge and ID card.
“I need to register new pet beast information. I just contracted one.”
“Summon the pet beast.” The staff took the badge and card, scanning them casually.
“Qingbao.” Qiao Sang called.
“Qing qing~”
Qingbao chirped sweetly and appeared.
The staff looked up, froze instantly, and stood in shock.
“T-This...” She stammered, unable to form a complete sentence.
Qingbao tilted her head, thinking something was wrong with her, so she straightened her posture, stroked her fluffy cloud, and gave a sweet smile.
“Qing qing~”
The staff’s mind went blank, stunned in place.
Clearly she had recognized Qingbao. After all, Qingbao was a legendary pet beast in the Central Hollow Region... Just as Qiao Sang was about to speak, a mechanical voice chimed in:
[Qingqinh Ni, a legendary Fairy-type Beginner pet beast. A child of the wind, but easily influenced by surrounding wind currents. Calm in breezes, irritable in gales, the stronger the wind, the worse her mood. Loves drifting along air currents and can slip through the tiniest of gaps like the wind itself.]
The entire hall fell silent.
Just a second ago, voices filled the place—, ow, eerie stillness.
Was it talking about her? Qingbao smiled sweetly at the human pointing the Pet Beast Identifier Device at her.
“Qing qing~”
Excitement exploded. The man with the device screamed uncontrollably: “Ahhh! Qingqing Ni! It’s Qingqing Ni! The real Qingqing Ni!”
The hall erupted into chaos, filled with screams.
“Where’s Qingqing Ni?!”
“Really?! Qingqing Ni actually appeared?!”
“Where? Tell me where!”
“Move! Don’t push!”
“Where is she?!”
“Mom! I see Qingqing Ni!”
The crowd’s eyes blazed with excitement, madness, and frenzy, surging toward Qingbao.
Some tried to take pictures, but were shoved so hard that phones clattered to the floor.
The hall fell into turmoil.
“Qing qing...”
Qingbao froze at the humans rushing at her, then her eyes lit up with excitement. A strange urge welled up in her, and wind swirled around her body.
What the hell, were people in Central Hollow Region always this crazy about Qingbao? Even after seeing Guwu Region’s obsession with Lubao, Qiao Sang was still shocked.
Qingbao must be terrified...
She raised her hand, about to recall Qingbao into her Beast Codex.
Suddenly, an overwhelming aura crashed down like a tidal wave.
Then, an aged voice boomed, amplified as if through a speaker: “This is the Beast Taming Center. Everyone, calm down. Do not forget order.”
The aura’s pressure worked.
The crowd regained some calm, though their gazes still burned.
Qiao Sang sighed in relief.
At that moment, a kindly gray-haired old man walked over from the offices. He smiled warmly at Qingbao, then looked at Qiao Sang and said slowly: “You’re Qingqing Ni's Beast Tamer?”
Qiao Sang nodded.
Immediately, the eyes once fixed on Qingbao now turned to her.
The old man introduced himself: “I’m the inspector of Jintian Beast Taming Center. There are too many people here. Let’s talk inside.”
Inspector? Qiao Sang blinked.
“Talk about what? I just came to register pet beast information.”
The old man looked at her.
“But you’re registering Qingqing Ni. Qingqing Ni is very important to our Central Hollow Region. I hope you’ll cooperate. It’s just a few questions.”
They wouldn’t try to forcefully break her contract with Qingbao, right? But both the Beast Taming Alliance and the Dragon Nation had strict laws against forcibly dissolving contracts. This was the Dragon Nation, and this was a Beast Taming Center, surely not...
Still, remembering how crazed everyone had been earlier, her imagination ran wild. But she quickly steadied herself and nodded.
“Alright.”
The Beast Taming world had zero tolerance for illegally severing Beast Tamer-pet bonds. Otherwise, back in Guwu Region, she’d have been mobbed already.
Even so, she pulled out her phone while walking and dialed Mikayla again.
This time, after just two rings, the call connected.
“Hello? You left the secret realm?” Mikayla’s voice came through.
Finally you answered... Qiao Sang glanced at the old man leading the way, who was also on the phone, smiling back at Qingbao now and then. She bit back her questions and simply said:
“Mm. I came out last night. I’m at the Beast Taming Center registering a pet. The person in charge wants me to his office to talk. Teacher, can you come-”
“Wait.” Mikayla interrupted.
“What pet are you registering?”
Mikayla exhaled slowly, trying to keep calm: “Don’t tell me... another of your pets evolved?”
“Of course not.” Qiao Sang chuckled.
“Yabao and the others just evolved. How could it be so soon?”
“Right...” Mikayla let out a breath of relief.
“I contracted a new pet.” Qiao Sang continued.
“What?!” Mikayla’s composure shattered, her voice shooting up.
“Didn’t I tell you every new pet you contract from now on is crucial? How could you just casually form a contract with a fifth pet?!”
For the Interstellar Cup, every pet was key. She had made this clear. Why had Qiao Sang acted so recklessly?
She had just exited the secret realm. Clearly, the new pet came from there.
Could it be... that secret realm contained a purebred beast with high innate talent and race potential?
Her student was always sharp, why act so foolish now?
Qiao Sang held the phone slightly away from her ear, then brought it back.
“Teacher, don’t get worked up. The pet I contracted...”
“We’re here.” The old man said, having ended his own call.
Qiao Sang looked at the office ahead and spoke into the phone: “Teacher, come to the seventh floor of the Beast Taming Center, the Beast Taming Supervisor's office, and find me.”
