CHAPTER 243: CHAPTER 234 BAI KUI SHOWS UP_1

Inside Si Yan’s tree hollow, she was organizing the Witch Doctor knowledge she had learned in this world and preparing herbal remedies.

The little snake Beastman squatted at the entrance of the tree hollow, looking at the white protective totem on his body. It was on his chest but not directly over his heart; there was still some distance. He frowned slightly; he wasn’t satisfied. In any world, this totem should be right over his heart. Although the location of the guardianship contract wasn’t ideal, there was still hope it could be moved when they formed a mate contract.

The little snake Beastman glanced at the busy little one behind him and sighed. She was only six years old. It would be many years before she came of age.

Old Gecko squatted next to the snake Beastman.

After the snake Beastman collected his thoughts, he turned his head and asked, "What’s the deal with this world?"

"As you can see, this is the Beast God’s Legacy World," Gecko said. "Ordinary Beastmen enter this world to resolve their regrets."

The snake Beastman paused. "How is Si Yan doing in the real world?"

"Finally concerned about this, are you?" Gecko replied. "After you two argued, her condition wasn’t good. Later, a lion Beastman knocked her down, hitting her stomach, and she nearly had a miscarriage. You know how dangerous a miscarriage is for a female. So, we took her to the Divine Temple and let the power of the Beast God protect her. She’s fine now."

It serves you right for quarreling with my precious granddaughter, Gecko thought, watching the snake Beastman’s face turn shades of green and white with vexation. You should be worried.

The snake Beastman eventually asked, "How can I leave this world?"

"The simplest way is suicide," Gecko said. "Die, and you’ll return."

The snake Beastman gave him a cold, eerie glance. No matter if this was the real or a fabricated world, he would never commit suicide. He would also never entrust his and Si Yan’s lives to such a dangerous rule. After all, what if he didn’t return after dying? Wouldn’t that mean truly dying?!

Gecko knew that approach wouldn’t work for him.

He stated, "There’s a second method, but it’s not easy."

The snake Beastman remained silent, so Gecko continued, "The group that entered this time includes you, Si Yan, Bai Feng, Tai Seng, Yin Hong, and Ming Yan. Once the regrets of all six of you are resolved, you can all leave this world together."

The snake Beastman said gravely, "Resolve... regrets?"

"Bai Feng’s regret is clear," Gecko said. "He deeply regrets leaving Si Yan in Myriad Beasts City, not protecting her well, and not teaching her personally. So, in this world, Bai Feng has kept Si Yan by his side since she was young. He protects her to the best of his ability, schools her strictly, and imparts all his knowledge to her without reservation."

"Honestly, your presence conflicts with his regret. In his eyes, you’re quite dangerous. Logically, he would be very averse to you, but Si Yan favors you, which puts him in a dilemma. Snake, if you want to get out, avoid confronting Bai Feng. Instead, convince him that you’re safe. This way, his regret can be resolved."

The little snake Beastman: "..."

"Tai Seng and Ming Yan’s pasts have also changed significantly. From what I’ve observed, they are in the process of resolving their regrets. You don’t need to concern yourself with them."

"I’m not clear about Yin Hong’s regret, but it seems he doesn’t have a major one."

"As for you..." Gecko curiously asked, "There’s been no change to your past. What is your regret?"

Gecko said with interest, "It’s Si Yan, isn’t it?"

The little snake Beastman paused, then turned to look back at Si Yan.

His mother had made half his life miserable. Perhaps because of this misery, he had seen through it all and grown to hate it thoroughly. That was despair, not regret. Only Si Yan... He regretted her lonely and desolate past, regretted not having been there to accompany her. He also regretted not making her truly fall in love with him. If he had another chance, he hoped they could have a pure, untainted relationship.

Gecko turned his head away, speechless. TSK, TSK, TSK. All this ’dog food.’ He didn’t want any.

She Wang asked, "What is Si Yan’s regret? Is it Bai Feng?"

Her past had also changed a lot. The thought that Si Yan’s regret might be linked to Bai Feng made the snake Beastman’s chest tighten uncomfortably.

"No, it’s not," Gecko said.

"The changes in Si Yan’s past were due to Bai Feng’s regret," Gecko explained. "As for Si Yan’s own regret, it’s not Bai Feng. I don’t know specifically what it is."

Gecko even suspected her greatest regret might not be related to the Beast World at all. But he wouldn’t tell this to the jealous snake.

"However, if you manage to clear this world through the normal means, all six of you will receive great benefits."

Young Si Yan was intently preparing herbal remedies. The little snake Beastman sat at the cave entrance, watching her.

He couldn’t understand why, even now, she was still willing to busy herself for that group of Beastmen outside who had lost their humanity.

Just as he was pondering this, the little snake Beastman suddenly stood up. "Si Yan, someone’s coming."

Hearing him, Si Yan put down her herbs. Her adorable little face turned towards them. She tilted her head slightly, causing the two lopsided pigtails in her hair to tilt as well.

"Wang?"

The little snake Beastman was once again captivated by her unintentional cuteness.

Just then, the annoying female, Bai Kui, sidled into the tree hollow.

She was quite arrogant. Pulling a long face, she said to Si Yan, "Si Yan, I have something to discuss with you privately," emphasizing the last word.

Si Yan knew a bit about Bai Kui’s past actions, and coupled with their previous dispute over herbs, she had no favorable impression of her.

But she was still curious about what Bai Kui wanted, so she said to She Wang, "Wang, could you step outside for a moment?"

She Wang turned and left, his expression indifferent.

The female before him was merely an ordinary female. If she dared to harm Si Yan, he could eliminate her instantly.

Bai Kui watched the only young male cub leave the tree hollow, until only she and Si Yan remained.

She hated that male cub; he had killed Bai Jing. She also hated Si Yan; because of her, the High Priest had given up on the White Eagle Beastmen. What right did she have?!

Si Yan looked at her. "What do you want to tell me?"

Bai Kui lifted her face, a trace of a triumphant smile playing on her lips. "Si Yan, I know a huge secret of yours."

Sensing the visitor’s ill intent, Si Yan grew cautious. "What secret?" she asked.

"You were originally infected with the plague because of my brother, weren’t you?" Bai Kui said. "But you recovered. How did you do it?"

Si Yan recalled hearing voices outside her door when she hadn’t yet recovered, though she hadn’t seen anyone. Could Bai Kui have been outside the door back then?

"Remember now?" Bai Kui smiled. "You drank that snake Beastman’s blood. And then you recovered."

Si Yan’s head snapped up, her hand instinctively going to the snake scale at her waist.

Bai Kui sauntered deeper into the tree hollow, picked up a piece of fruit, and began to eat it. She was certain she had Si Yan right where she wanted her.

"Si Yan, you’re truly outrageous! You used that snake Beastman’s blood to save yourself but won’t let others use it. You even plan to hoard it!"

"That newborn female cub came to you a few days ago, didn’t she? She was so adorable. Why didn’t you save her? Why didn’t you use that snake Beastman’s blood to save her?"

"Snake Beastmen are so lowly! It’s their honor that their blood and flesh can be used to save people!"

"Si Yan, you’re too selfish!"

Bai Kui’s face twisted in a snarl as she glared at Si Yan.

"I’ve been observing you for so many days. You clearly have a way to save everyone, but you’re not using it!!"

"Is a snake Beastman’s life worth more than the lives of us White Eagle Beastmen?!!"
