Beast World: I Became the Little Villain's Mommy

CHAPTER 312: CHAPTER 303 THERE IS NO GOODNESS AT ALL_1
Si Yan descended from upstairs and saw Jin Tong anxiously waiting for her at the foot of the stairs.
Following his gaze, she immediately spotted several cubs surrounding the little beastman.
It seemed Dongchi and the others were getting along with him fine.
Anxious, Jin Tong rushed over the moment he saw Si Yan emerge.
"Sis, what’s the deal with this brat? How did he end up here with us?"
Si Yan paused. "Picked him up on the road."
"Picked him up on the road? How did you come across him? Do you know who he is?"
"I don’t know. Who is he?"
"He... he’s our cousin."
Si Yan was speechless.
The little beastman cub somehow appeared beside them.
"Fifth Brother," he said.
Jin Tong looked down, speechless.
The little beastman cub politely shifted his gaze from Jin Tong to Si Yan, his pink cheeks turned towards her. He hadn’t spoken all day, and his voice was slightly raspy but still clear.
"Sister, I want to talk to you."
「Outside the Delusional Tavern」
Golden Dragon Beastman Jin Ting was dragging Jin Kun along.
Jin Kun said impatiently, "Brother, why drag me out in such heavy rain? Yao Yao just recovered; she still needs company. Why are you so set on seeing our sixth sibling?"
Jin Ting replied, "Third Brother, everyone says Sixth is terrible, but I haven’t seen for myself, have I? Just keep me company."
Jin Kun grew even more impatient. "Sixth isn’t just terrible; she’s incredibly petty. She couldn’t tolerate Yao Yao and even hexed her with voodoo. She’s simply too malicious!"
Jin Ting said, "Exactly! That’s why I want to see for myself just how petty and malicious Sixth is."
The two Golden Dragon Beastmen arrived at the entrance of the Delusional Tavern, Jin Ting dragging Jin Kun inside. But as they reached the door, Jin Kun felt a strong reluctance well up inside him.
"I’m not going in," Jin Kun frowned.
"Why?"
Jin Kun couldn’t explain it. It felt as if going in to see Si Yan would put some of his deepest beliefs, things he had always clung to, in danger of shattering.
Jin Ting said, "Fine, then we’ll just stay outside. You can accompany me to see Sixth."
Unable to refuse, Jin Kun had no choice but to stand with Jin Ting under the large tree outside the Delusional Tavern.
Peering through the window, he froze when he saw the delicate, pink-cheeked little beastman cub. "Brother, what’s Bi Yao doing at Sixth’s place?"
Jin Ting didn’t speak. He looked into the room, his gaze meeting Si Yan’s.
Si Yan was momentarily surprised.
She remembered the dream she had. Actually, there were many illogical elements in that dream. For instance, she could never abandon her four little ones and She Wang just for the Golden Dragon Clan. But in the dream, there were only the Golden Dragon Clan and Jin Yao; her four little ones weren’t there, nor was She Wang. Because of its irrationality, Si Yan had only considered it a warning dream.
And in that dream, there was another person who didn’t quite make sense: Jin Ting. The Jin Ting in her dream, although he verbally opposed her, hadn’t actually done anything to harm her. In the end, when Jin Tong was helping her flee the Golden Dragon Clan, they were discovered by the eldest brother, Jin Ting. Yet, even though Jin Ting found her, he still let her go. The dream felt so real, and Si Yan had looked back at Jin Ting many times. She vaguely sensed that after Jin Ting let her go, he intended to do something dangerous... Si Yan didn’t dislike Jin Ting that much.
She averted her gaze, and it fell on Bi Yao.
Although Jin Ting and Jin Kun hadn’t gone inside, it was as if they were present; they were both fully aware of the situation.
「In Si Yan’s room」
She Wang was still not far from her side. The four little ones, eager to befriend Bi Yao, had also followed them in.
Jin Tong stood to one side, while young Bi Yao stood directly facing Si Yan.
The little cub’s words were sharp.
"Stop pretending."
"What?" Si Yan was surprised.
"Why did you save those strangers? Was it to make them feel grateful to you?"
The beastman cub, only about five years old and around the same age as her own four little ones, had asked such an explosive first question! Grateful to me? This little cub looks so cute, yet why are his words so cynical?
Si Yan furrowed her brows. "I did it because I wanted to. There was no ulterior motive."
"No ulterior motive? I don’t believe you."
"Why not?"
"I’ve seen a female help someone, but she only did it to gain that person’s affection. When the one whose favor she sought wasn’t looking, she took back all the help she’d given."
His eyes filled with contempt. "There’s no such thing as true kindness in this world."
This was the Beast World. Even if there were truly malevolent individuals, most beastmen were straightforward; it was largely an uncomplicated world. So how had this little beastman cub before her become so disillusioned and hopeless?
Si Yan murmured, "No kindness?"
Bi Yao retorted, "Isn’t it true? Those people, going on about thirty-odd lives, were just using those lives to pressure you. If it were me, I wouldn’t have bothered saving them. I save if I want to; if you try to force me, I won’t!"
He continued, "You helped them, and they might be grateful, but their gratitude isn’t worth much. But if you hadn’t helped? Believe me, they would have turned on you in an instant!"
"You don’t even know these people, and they pressured you, a pregnant female! Why would you save them?!"
Si Yan’s expression softened as she quietly watched the seemingly innocent child before her.
She could vaguely sense his inner torment. Why would such a young cub harbor so much pain and struggle in his heart?
"Maybe I just didn’t think that much," Si Yan’s voice gentle.
"What?"
She answered the cub, who was only a little over five years old, with surprising patience. "Whether they were using lives to pressure me or not, it didn’t matter to me.
"When they were yelling for help, saying their cubs or grandfathers were on the other side, I could roughly tell that little ones and elderly beastmen were waiting to be rescued.
"When they said there were more than thirty beastmen over there, I knew there were more than thirty people needing rescue.
"As for whether they’d be grateful or hate me, as you suggested, I didn’t think about it at all then. No, and I won’t think about it in the future either.
"As long as I’m capable enough, and as long as I’ve ensured the safety of myself and my loved ones, I do what I feel needs to be done. Why hesitate and weigh every potential gain or loss?
"Besides, the gratitude or hatred you mentioned... those feelings from strangers aren’t important to me."
The little beastman’s agitated expression slowly calmed. He shook his head in denial. "I don’t believe it! I don’t believe you don’t have a motive!"
After pondering for a moment, Si Yan said, "Perhaps I do."
The little beastman immediately looked up at her, his expression clearly saying: I knew it! You do have a motive! There really are no truly kind people in this world!
After contemplating for a while, Si Yan replied, "My Beast Husband and our cubs are snake-beastmen. In this Beast World, snake-beastmen have always been treated with prejudice. If something goes missing, they’re the first to be suspected of stealing. If a female disappears, the first snake-beastman they see is blamed.
"I am now the Lady of the Delusional Domain. Sometimes, I wonder if I do enough...
"if, over time, the prejudice against snake-beastmen might disappear.
"If there were no prejudice, wouldn’t my Beast Husband and our cubs be able to live much more easily?"
