CHAPTER 19: CHAPTER 19: THE UNGRATEFUL WOLF (PLEASE FAVORITE! PLEASE FOLLOW!)

Sun Dasheng nodded and showed them the order on his phone.

The three of them gasped in surprise. The uncle was truly wealthy; he had casually purchased a car worth four million.

"Uncle, you’re so rich!" Li Sili said bluntly, her attitude toward him unchanged, regardless of his wealth.

The other two, however, were much more reserved compared to when they had first met.

"Uncle, where are we going now?" Li Sili asked.

He checked the time; it was already six-thirty, dinnertime. If we go home, we’ll just end up eating takeout, he thought.

"Let me treat you to a meal," he said. "To celebrate your new jobs."

"Wow! Is Uncle going to treat us to a feast? I can’t wait!" Li Sili was especially enthusiastic when it came to food.

「Fuxing Street, The Roman Restaurant.」

It was the same restaurant where his young apprentice, Ouyang Jiani, had treated them last time. Being a weekend, the place was crowded and required a reservation or a long wait. As the group approached the entrance, they saw the waiting area was packed with people.

Li Sili tugged at Sun Dasheng’s clothes. "Uncle, it’s so crowded here. Let’s find another place."

Sun Dasheng nodded. Even the most delicious place isn’t worth a long wait. If there’s a line, I’m leaving.

Just as they were about to leave, an abrasive voice cut through the noise.

"Well, well, look who we have here. If it isn’t my dear roommates."

The person speaking wore a thick layer of heavy makeup, a stark contrast to Wu Xiaoli’s seductive charm. On her youthful face, it looked particularly jarring, like a small pony pulling a heavy cart or a child playing dress-up.

"Hah! Ruan Bingran, what do you want from us?" Li Sili retorted coldly.

It turned out this was their third roommate—Ruan Bingran.

She glanced at Sun Dasheng, her face filling with disdain. "So this is where you three ended up. I was wondering what happened to you after you lost your place to live. Turns out you’ve hooked up with him."

Hearing this, Li Sili bristled. "What do you mean ’hooked up’? Why do you have to be so crude? Can’t you speak like a decent human being?"

A smirk played on Ruan Bingran’s lips. "I warned you. He’s nothing but an unemployed loafer now. Hang around with him, and be careful he doesn’t sell you off while you’re still busy counting the money for him."

"Ruan Bingran, we’re not in elementary school. We don’t need you to lecture us about how wicked people can be. I think you just can’t stand to see us doing well," Fang Sihan joined the fray.

"Exactly! Ruan Bingran, you tricked me once. Don’t even think about tricking me again," Yun Yuqing added her support.

In an instant, the scene turned into a three-against-one verbal brawl. Without Sun Dasheng needing to say a word, Ruan Bingran was already at a disadvantage.

Ruan Bingran was momentarily flustered. I didn’t say anything wrong, she thought. This man was obviously fired from his company; everyone there knows about it. Fired from his job, divorced by his wife, no money, no power, and no woman—he’s a complete loser. He might be a little handsome, but considering his age, that advantage is completely gone.

At that moment, a man in gold-rimmed glasses stepped out of the elevator. He walked over, and Ruan Bingran hurried to his side, hugging his arm. Her previous haughtiness vanished, replaced by the demeanor of a gentle kitten.

"Sorry, parking took a while. There were too many cars downstairs," the man explained, then tenderly stroked her head.

He scanned the group, and when his eyes landed on Sun Dasheng, a flicker of surprise crossed his face, but he masked it so quickly it was almost imperceptible.

He then beamed enthusiastically. "Bingran, these three must be your roommates. You’re all such beautiful women." As he spoke, he looked directly at the three girls, acting as if he hadn’t even seen Sun Dasheng standing with them. "Are you dining here too? Why not join us? I have a VIP card, so you don’t have to wait in line with them."

Seeing his friendly smile, the girls felt it would be wrong to give him a cold shoulder. You don’t slap a smiling face, after all.

"No thanks, we’re going to eat somewhere else," Li Sili replied on behalf of the group, turning down his offer.

The man simply smiled and said nothing.

Ruan Bingran huffed. "Hmph. Talk about ungrateful. Just like the dog that bit Lv Dongbin, they don’t recognize kindness when they see it." Then, turning to her companion, she said, "Honey, don’t mind them. They have their knight in shining armor."

Only then did the man seem to notice Sun Dasheng standing to the side. He feigned surprise. "Master! What are you doing here? My apologies, my apologies. I was so busy admiring the beauties I didn’t even see you. You’re not angry, are you?"

It turned out this man was Xu Yongsheng, the first apprentice Sun Dasheng had ever trained. As his first trainee, Sun Dasheng had poured countless hours of overtime into mentoring him. Now, Xu Yongsheng worked under Xiang Yunsheng as a K7 team leader, managing a group of live-streaming celebrities.

Sun Dasheng met his passive-aggressive sarcasm with a tight, humorless smile and remained silent. He couldn’t be bothered to engage with such two-faced people; it was a waste of energy and would ruin his mood. They just drag you down to their level and then beat you with their wealth of experience.

"Master, why so quiet? Is it because you left the company and life isn’t going so well?" Xu Yongsheng was a classic ungrateful backstabber, constantly stooping to disgusting new lows to prove his loyalty to his new boss. He had likely heard the rumors about Sun Dasheng confronting the company’s senior management. "Or maybe your wife left you for a better man, and that’s why you’re so depressed?"

"What nonsense are you talking about? Uncle is nothing like the person you’re describing," Li Sili shot back, jumping to his defense. "Even if he is unemployed and divorced, he’s still living a much better life than you!"

"Exactly, exactly!" Fang Sihan and Yun Yuqing quickly chimed in, seizing the opportunity to score points with Sun Dasheng. They weren’t sure about the details of his job or his divorce, but they knew one thing for certain: the uncle was loaded and living his best life.

Ruan Bingran stared at her roommates in shock. "Have you all been hexed by him? He’s unemployed and divorced! He lost his job, his wife, and his money. Why are you still following him around? Are you really waiting for him to sell you off so you can count the money for him?"

Xu Yongsheng adjusted the glasses on his nose and wrapped his arm around Ruan Bingran. "Alright, drop the savior complex and respect their destiny. Let’s go eat. We’ll leave these paupers to wait in line."

Sun Dasheng’s face turned cold. He hadn’t wanted to deal with this trash, but their repeated provocations were becoming too much to bear. Was he supposed to become a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle?

"Xu Bighead, I’m glad you still remember your master, but I really don’t like your tone. It seems I failed you back then. I only taught you how to do your job, not how to be a decent human being."

Xu Yongsheng’s face burned with fury. He despised that nickname. Because of his large head, people had called him "Xu Bighead" when he first joined the company. Since his promotion to team leader, no one had dared to mention it.

Seeing his rage, Ruan Bingran clung tightly to his arm. "Don’t stoop to his level, honey. You have a successful career and a limitless future. He’s just a worthless bum. Clashing with him is like smashing fine china against cheap pottery. It’s not worth it!"
