Becoming a Billionaire after Divorce
Chapter 39 The Rich Lady? That’s My Good Sister
CHAPTER 39: CHAPTER 39 THE RICH LADY? THAT’S MY GOOD SISTER
Sun Dasheng, secretly pleased, looked up to see the unhappy young girl. He immediately wiped the smile from his face.
"What happened today wasn’t your fault."
After consoling the girl, he called over Sun Dacheng.
"Da Cheng, what’s wrong with you? Weren’t you paying attention to the task I gave you?"
"Huh?" Sun Dacheng was dumbfounded.
"How could you be a hands-off manager for the fishing video shoot? You disappointed our little girl, and we ended up with nothing. No footage to upload."
Sun Dacheng screamed silently in protest. I was right there on scene, personally handling everything! But then you call me away to the office for some new task.
But he didn’t dare say it out loud. He had no choice but to bite the bullet and admit, "Director Sun, it’s my responsibility that the video wasn’t filmed properly."
"I accept the criticism. It was my fault!"
Sun Dasheng didn’t respond. He simply pursed his lips and gestured with his chin toward Li Sili.
He immediately got the hint and sincerely apologized to the young girl again. This left Li Sili flustered, and she quickly said, "It’s not your fault. I’m also part of the problem."
Li Sili turned to Sun Dasheng. "Uncle, I don’t know how to fish!"
Her large, innocent eyes stared at him, pleading with him to change the video’s theme.
Change the theme? Not a chance! But how can I convince her?
He turned his gaze to Sun Dacheng, who was standing nearby.
Receiving the signal, Sun Dacheng quickly said, "Do we really need you to do the actual fishing, with live bait and all, just to shoot a video?"
"Today was my fault. I forgot to instruct the staff properly."
"Tomorrow, I guarantee everything will be perfectly arranged. Rest assured, we won’t have a repeat of today, where you can’t catch a single fish and have no footage."
"But what if the fish just won’t bite? What can we do then?" Li Sili asked.
Sun Dacheng slapped his thigh. "That’s easy! I’ll just have someone dive underwater and hook the fish for you."
"Big or small, common or rare—you’ll be able to ’catch’ whatever fish you want. The show will be a massive hit!"
Li Sili was stunned, her mouth slightly agape, unsure of what to say.
AHEM... Sun Dasheng nearly choked on his tea.
He looked at the still-excited Sun Dacheng and thought, You bastard, you’re a real piece of work!
"Brother Sun, what do you think of this idea?"
In his excitement, Sun Dacheng had once again forgotten to use his formal title at work.
Sun Dasheng didn’t bother to correct him, not wanting to dampen his enthusiasm.
"Can we really do that?" Li Sili asked after a long pause.
"Isn’t that basically cheating?"
"Besides, the fishing spot is crowded. If someone sees us and posts it online, I’ll get roasted to death, won’t I?" she asked, clearly unhappy with the idea.
"Don’t worry, it doesn’t count as cheating. Do you really think the fishing fans online can’t tell? Nine out of ten fishing trips end with nothing; that’s normal. Who has a massive catch every single day? They’re just watching online for entertainment. It’ll be fine," Sun Dacheng quickly explained.
"As for the location, we can just rent a private fishpond. That way, no one will disturb us."
Li Sili was still uncertain and looked to Sun Dasheng to make the final decision.
He nodded. "Da Cheng, the method is viable, but don’t take it too far. Going overboard is just as bad as not doing enough, understand?"
Sun Dacheng gave a thumbs-up. "This is why you’re the big boss! We all have so much to learn from the way you handle things."
"When we film, we’ll just reduce the frequency of the ’catches’ to make it look more reasonable."
"If it weren’t for your words of wisdom, I would have definitely messed up again."
After sending the sycophant away, Li Sili also took her leave.
Sun Dasheng settled back into his armchair and stretched comfortably. As he did, his sharp eyes caught a small crack on the face of his watch.
I must have knocked it against something during the earlier scuffle.
That kind of man-made damage wasn’t covered by the warranty.
Realizing he had nothing else to do for the moment, he drove to the shopping mall.
The first floor of the mall was lined with boutiques for major jewelry brands, including a Patek Philippe store.
Just as he reached the entrance, his steps slowed to a halt.
What is she doing here? Isn’t it working hours?
He saw Xiang Yiren carrying numerous bags, dutifully following a man and a woman.
The man was young and muscular, while the woman had a face so caked in foundation that it couldn’t hide her wrinkles. She had to be at least fifty. The two of them were pressed closely together, picking out watches at the counter.
Xiang Yiren trailed behind them like a page, her delicate hands red from the strain of the heavy bags.
Sun Dasheng’s heart ached for her, and he walked over.
"Yiren, what are you doing here? Aren’t you supposed to be at work?"
Hearing his voice, Xiang Yiren’s previously blank expression bloomed into a smile.
"Brother Sun, what are you doing here?" she asked, running over with a laugh. Then she lifted the shopping bags in her hands and added helplessly, "This is another one of my manager’s ’tasks’."
He took the bags from her and set them on the counter. "You’re carrying so much. Look, your fingers are all red." He gently rubbed her hands. "Does it hurt?"
Xiang Yiren smiled and shook her head.
Their tender moment was cut short.
"Who’s this?"
The young man spoke, sizing Sun Dasheng up before turning to Xiang Yiren.
"Manager Wang told you to serve our guest well. Is this what you call good service?"
"Now, pick those bags up. They’re full of luxury goods Sister Zhang bought, and they’re priceless. If you lose a single item, we couldn’t afford it even if we sold you."
With that, he shot a contemptuous glance at Sun Dasheng.
"Don’t go touching other people’s property."
The "Sister Zhang" the man referred to stood by without a word, seemingly enjoying the show.
Seeing Sun Dasheng getting angry, Xiang Yiren tugged on his sleeve and whispered, "Just ignore him. He’s just a personal trainer from our gym, throwing his weight around because he’s with a rich client."
Ah, I get it. One of those ambitious young men with ideals and aspirations... who just happens to enjoy the company of wealthy older women.
Ignoring him was the greatest sign of respect he could offer.
He bypassed the trainer and walked right up to the woman in question, Sister Zhang.
A closer look revealed—good heavens, wasn’t this Zhang Cuixia, Xiang Yunsheng’s wife?
She keeps her husband on such a tight leash at home, yet here she is, playing around so extravagantly? Does your husband, Xiang Yunsheng, know about this? And does he know you’re making his own daughter carry your bags for you?
They had only met once, at a school entrance celebration banquet. With so many people there, and Sun Dasheng being a nobody hiding in a corner back then, she didn’t recognize him at all.
"Excuse me, I apologize for handling your things without your permission," Sun Dasheng said, speaking first.
"And you think a simple ’sorry’ is going to be the end of it?"
A real tigress. This won’t be easy.
"Oh? Then what do you suggest?" Sun Dasheng asked coolly.
"What else? We don’t want these items anymore. You can pay for them," the gym instructor chimed in, clinging to the woman like a persistent ghost. He shamelessly nestled his head against her ample chest, as meek as a puppy.
"You don’t have the money, do you?"
"No, you couldn’t possibly, could you?"
"Well, that’s going to be a problem."
Sun Dasheng ignored him, his gaze fixed on Zhang Cuixia.
She lovingly stroked the little puppy in her arms and said, "I’ll do whatever he says."
Ugh! The sight almost made Sun Dasheng bring up last night’s dinner.
The trainer, nestled comfortably in the rich woman’s arms, gave Sun Dasheng a look of smug superiority. His expression seemed to say, This rich woman? She’s my dear patroness. You can only look on in envy, you broke loser.
