Chapter 326: The Egg and the Unlucky Silvanus
CHAPTER 326: THE EGG AND THE UNLUCKY SILVANUS
Silvanus watched the black dust vanish, then glanced at Lumin hovering around him, unable to resist teasing it a little. At this moment, unlike outside, Lumin was actually projecting a screen.
Not precisely a screen—it was more like a holographic projection of a miniature map. The map was clearly divided into four distinct regions, with only a single red dot marked in the jungle area, symbolised by a tree.
The other regions were marked with a snowflake, a whirlwind, and fire.
Additionally, a few types of plants appeared. Silvanus realised these were probably the rare plants the headmaster had mentioned. They were arranged from largest to smallest. Silvanus thought that the larger the symbol of a plant, the more valuable it likely was.
His gaze swept over one particular plant, and he couldn’t help but freeze, lowering his eyes to look at his feet.
"Oh, they all have yellow flowers... oh, and the heart-shaped leaves are identical..." Silvanus then looked around, noticing that this whole area was filled with these plants, giving him the feeling of being surrounded.
"Huh..." Silvanus widened his eyes, repeatedly checking the Personal Panel to make sure.
Meanwhile, outside, the crowd had already started to get loud.
"Is this kid the main character? Seriously... this isn’t fair!"
"Remember back then, I spent the whole session just to find one branch of Golden Heart, and this kid gets lucky like this?!"
"Look at that stunned expression—he probably didn’t expect this either, hahaha."
Silvanus honestly couldn’t believe it. He couldn’t believe his own luck. Yet, following that feeling came caution. After all, it was always like this—every time he encountered luck, misfortune was waiting around the corner.
Silvanus bent down, using nearly all his strength to pull out this strange plant, continuously tossing it toward Lumin. The moment a small branch touched the light, it vanished instantly.
Pulling and throwing without pause, leaves and all, Silvanus figured Lumin only needed the designated plants, right? He felt brilliantly clever.
Pulling, pulling, pulling, Silvanus kept moving forward until he finally circled a massive tree.
He suddenly widened his eyes, reacting instantly as he dodged to the side!
The thing brushed past him, still hopping relentlessly on the ground.
Silvanus sprang up from the ground, leaping back, frowning at the object that had appeared.
An egg—yes, it had to be an egg. Its colour was a dull grey, covered in mud, about the size of two adult fists. But remarkable was that the egg kept bouncing on the ground, seemingly making a "pong pong" sound each time it hit the floor.
Silvanus couldn’t help but chuckle: "What the heck is this..."
He stepped forward, caught the egg with one hand, and tossed it toward Lumin. Unfortunately, it wasn’t counted in the system’s score.
"I thought it was some kind of plant, but turns out you’re really an egg, huh?"
Silvanus said this while rubbing the egg. Just then, it suddenly jumped out of his hand. Before Silvanus could react, it smacked hard against his head!
Silvanus gaped, his mind ringing from the impact, vision blurred. He staggered backwards, trembling fingers pointing at the still-energetic egg hopping on the ground:
"Y-you... why aren’t you breaking?!"
He clearly felt as if his skull had been split in two.
The egg now bounced faster and faster. Silvanus couldn’t help retreating, holding his hand out:
"Don’t get any ideas, or I’ll crush you!"
As if questioning Silvanus about who exactly he wanted to crush, the egg suddenly shot forward, heading straight for Silvanus’s crotch.
Silvanus’ eyes widened as he hastily stepped back.
"Never seen such a shameless egg in my life! Take this!"
Just as Silvanus was about to strike, the egg suddenly leapt into a bush and disappeared.
Silvanus’ face turned cold: "Better not cross my path again."
He turned to continue forward, but a deafening, bone-chilling roar echoed at that moment. In front of Silvanus loomed a massive snake, its fangs sharp, glinting with a cold light, and its mouth wide enough to swallow three Silvanuses at once!
Silvanus could even see the rage on the snake’s face. Its glossy black scales shimmered with every movement, and its blood-red eyes locked straight on him. Moreover, it wasn’t a shadow creature, which meant it could only be an untamed beast.
Silvanus gaped, glancing toward where the egg had just fled, then immediately launched forward as if flying. The sheer speed of his movement flattened the plants on either side!
"Damned egg!"
He roared, running with all his strength, even reinforcing himself with some magic to go faster. Sure enough, he soon saw the stupid egg bouncing ahead at incredible speed.
Though it seemed absurd, there was no doubt—the egg was clearly what the snake had been chasing! Moreover, it had just been pushing him backwards, leaving no question that its actions had a purpose.
Silvanus snorted, dashing past the egg like a gust of wind. He tilted his head, revealing the sharp angle of his face, his index and middle fingers closing in a mock salute:
"Goodbye, stupid egg..."
"BAM!"
Before he could finish speaking, his body slammed into a large tree with such force that he nearly left an imprint on it, then slid down like a sheet of paper.
The egg kept bouncing at full speed, and as it passed Silvanus, it even jumped onto his head before continuing forward.
Startled, Silvanus raised his hands to protect his head, the pain nearly tearing him. The deafening sounds continued to thunder behind him. He clenched his teeth and kept running; after all, he couldn’t be caught—he was no match for the snake beast!
This time, Silvanus ran past the egg without stopping, burying his head and sprinting. Damn it, he had just lost all face—encountering this egg was pure misfortune!
He cursed under his breath and surged forward like a gust of wind.
He ran for what felt like a long time, only stopping once the sounds of the massive snake slithering behind him had disappeared. Silvanus gasped for air, hands resting on his knees, body hunched over slightly.
At that moment, a sudden screech pierced the air.
Silvanus looked up to see a bird-like creature with jet-black feathers perched on a tree branch. Its long neck and gaunt body resembled a vulture, and its animalistic face couldn’t hide the malice and cunning in its gaze.
As it screeched, it dove downward, its massive beak snapping open, hurtling straight toward Silvanus!
Once again, a flock of Shadow Creature was descending in a pack.
