Becoming The Bigshot's Only Love After Breaking Her Engagement
Chapter 126: Madam Zhan Gets Into a Fight
CHAPTER 126: CHAPTER 126: MADAM ZHAN GETS INTO A FIGHT
"Something’s wrong, something’s wrong, Madam Zhan and Miss Zhang have started fighting."
A staff member hurriedly ran in, shouting to everyone.
Mr. Zhan was chatting with someone when he suddenly heard the words "Madam Zhan." His brow furrowed, and he strode outside.
Upon hearing that Madam Zhan and Miss Zhang were fighting, everyone quickly followed him outside.
They weren’t necessarily going to intervene; rather, they wondered how much of a spectacle these two would cause.
Their level of gossip was certainly not less than the ordinary citizens in the streets and alleys; the gossiping spirit was practically ablaze.
The only one who might be concerned was Xia Wenlei.
She organized the event, and Ye Ningwan was invited by her persistent invitations.
If real disputes occurred, she could hardly escape blame.
But when everyone arrived, the scene they saw was Zhang Meimei being beaten unilaterally by Ye Ningwan.
Ye Ningwan didn’t even use any tricks. With Zhang Meimei’s petite figure, couldn’t she handle her?
Originally, Zhang Meimei refused to let her leave and touched her first.
Ye Ningwan was also angry.
Did she think she could bully people just because of her status?
In her rage, Ye Ningwan directly grabbed Zhang Meimei’s arm and pinned her against the wall.
Zhang Meimei screamed in pain but couldn’t move.
Ye Ningwan warned her angrily, "Little girl, it’s best not to provoke me. If you’re incompetent and still like to fight, you’re lucky it’s me; others might beat you to death."
"Ye Ningwan, you bitch, how dare you bully me," Zhang Meimei cursed stubbornly.
Ye Ningwan applied a bit more force, causing Zhang Meimei to scream again in pain.
Ye Ya ran over, saw this scene, and immediately wanted to intervene and stop Ye Ningwan.
However, Mr. Zhan blocked her.
He looked at her with a stern face, remaining silent, but his gaze alone scared Ye Ya into backing off.
The others also had, more or less, been bullied by the arrogant Zhang Meimei and weren’t close enough to her to save her.
Moreover, with Mr. Zhan—"the Living Yama"—standing guard, no one dared to step forward, only watching the spectacle.
Only Xia Wenlei, the organizer, was genuinely anxious, and she hurried over, feeling relieved when she saw Ye Ningwan unhurt.
But seeing Zhang Meimei being beaten made her heart jump again.
She quickly approached Mr. Zhan and advised, "Mr. Zhan, won’t you ask Madam Zhan to stop? Miss Zhang is still young, and for President Feng and Mayor Zhang’s sake, this matter should end here."
Mr. Zhan stepped aside, allowing Xia Wenlei to pass.
Xia Wenlei sighed in relief and hurriedly advised Ye Ningwan, "Madam Zhan, please calm down and release Miss Zhang."
Ye Ningwan let Zhang Meimei go.
Zhang Meimei’s arm had been twisted painfully, her face covered in tears and mucus.
Ye Ya hurriedly stepped forward, holding tissues to wipe her face.
"Meimei, don’t cry, are you okay?"
Zhang Meimei angrily pushed Ye Ya away.
Because she used too much force, Ye Ya hit the wall beside her, wincing in pain.
"Ye Ningwan, how dare you do this to me. Just wait, I won’t let this go."
"Whatever, you started it, and I was merely defending myself," Ye Ningwan said dismissively, curling her lip in disdain.
Zhang Meimei’s little face turned red with anger, tears continuously flowing.
She had never been this humiliated before in her life.
She raised her other uninjured hand to hit Ye Ningwan.
This time, Mr. Zhan stopped her.
Mr. Zhan grabbed her wrist, yanked her forcefully, and coldly rebuked, "Are you trying to hit my wife right in front of me, Miss Zhang? Is it that you don’t regard me at all?"
"Mr. Zhan, you’re my brother-in-law." Zhang Meimei also hit the wall, angrily crying.
Mr. Zhan coldly replied, "Not anymore."
"You heartless man, my cousin married you and not long after, she died. You heartless man." Zhang Meimei pointed at Mr. Zhan, angrily accusing him.
Mr. Zhan ignored her, walked to Ye Ningwan, and asked, "Are you hurt?"
"No, I’m fine," Ye Ningwan shook her head.
Mr. Zhan sighed in relief, wrapped his arm around her shoulder, and said, "Let’s go home."
Ye Ningwan nodded, then apologized to Xia Wenlei, "Miss Xia, sorry for disrupting your event."
"I should be the one apologizing; I’ll definitely pay you a visit to apologize another day," Xia Wenlei said apologetically.
Mr. Zhan and Ye Ningwan left together.
In the car, Ye Ningwan thought about today’s events and felt guilty again.
"I’m sorry, I couldn’t hold back momentarily and fought her. Her father is the mayor; will you have trouble because of this?"
She could’ve held back, but that little girl Zhang Meimei not only insulted her but had the audacity to insult her mother.
She couldn’t tolerate this.
That’s why she fought back.
"It’s fine, I’m doing legitimate business; what can he do to me? Besides, Jiangcheng needs the Zhan Group’s taxes to maintain its operation; he needs me more than I need him," Mr. Zhan said.
Ye Ningwan finally let out a sigh of relief, relieved she hadn’t caused him any trouble.
"Remember, you are my wife, Mrs. Zhan Hanjue; you have no need to fear anyone. If there are problems, I’ll deal with them," Mr. Zhan solemnly stated, holding her hand.
Ye Ningwan curled her lips, "So, if I really beat her up next time, it’s okay?"
"As long as you don’t get hurt, there’s no problem," Mr. Zhan said.
Ye Ningwan felt warmth in her heart.
It’s been so long since anyone protected her like this.
The days of being cherished felt like a thing of the past.
"She said some disrespectful things about my mother, that’s why I couldn’t hold back and attacked her. In the future, I won’t be so impulsive," Ye Ningwan explained, leaning against him.
Mr. Zhan gently embraced her, his eyes deepening.
Do they think they can bully him as if he’s dead?
"Mummy, Ye Ningwan dared to humiliate me in front of so many people and even beat me up. It’s not just a hit on me; it’s a hit on the Feng Family’s face and my father’s face."
Zhang Meimei was sent home, and upon seeing Feng Qi, she wailed and complained tearfully.
Feng Qi had just returned from a business trip, and her daughter’s reaction startled her before she even said a word.
Frowning, she quickly asked, "What happened? How did you get bullied?"
Ye Ya, who had brought Zhang Meimei home, immediately apologized to Feng Qi, "Auntie, I’m sorry, it’s all my fault. Meimei attended the event with me today and ran into my third sister, and they got into a fight. It’s because our family’s teaching wasn’t strict; if Auntie wants to blame anyone, blame me!"
"How’s this your fault? That wild girl from your Ye Family was sent to the countryside since childhood; she’s nothing but a hillbilly. It has nothing to do with you and the Feng Family; it’s entirely her own fault," Zhang Meimei shouted.
Feng Qi was not as foolish as her daughter, falling for Ye Ya’s tricks so easily.
Ye Ya’s little ploys were leftovers in Feng Qi’s eyes.
It was clearly an attempt to provoke further resentment against Ye Ningwan.
"Ye Ya, thank you for your trouble in bringing Meimei home today. If there’s nothing else, you should leave," Feng Qi said.
Ye Ya nodded, comforted Zhang Meimei a few more times, then departed with a worried face.
There’s no one who knows their daughter better than a mother; Feng Qi has always been aware of her daughter’s disposition.
Spoiled since childhood, her temper was a bit overbearing, her nature impatient, and easily manipulated.
Thus, with a stern face, she began investigating, "What exactly happened? Tell me everything from the beginning. Don’t gloss over the important parts and only tell what’s favorable to you."
