Ningwan was in a muddled sleep, hearing the sound of water "splashing" from the bathroom.

She frowned slightly, thinking to herself with eyes closed, bathing in the middle of the night?

But she was too tired, and the room was filled with sleep-aiding aromatics, so she soon fell back asleep, muddled and unaware.

"Get up."

The next morning, Ningwan was still in a dream when Zhan Hanjue kicked her.

Ningwan rubbed her eyes, groggily asking, "What’s the matter?"

How can he kick her awake, so impertinent.

"Did you burn incense in the room?" Zhan Hanjue asked coldly.

"Yes, it’s sleep-aiding. Rest assured, it’s just for sleep aid, no harmful components, won’t harm the body."

"Who allowed you to burn this?" Zhan Hanjue was angry.

Ningwan stood up, crossed her arms, and looked down at him, "Mr. Zhan Hanjue, I burned sleep-aiding incense for your benefit. Do you know how much effort it takes to prepare this incense? If it weren’t for Grandma treating me so well, do you think I’d be willing to help you?"

"I don’t need your help, don’t burn this again next time," Zhan Hanjue said with a cold face.

"Alright, remember that, then don’t come back to sleep tomorrow either, affecting my rest." Ningwan snorted coldly.

"Ningwan, you’ve got some nerve."

Zhan Hanjue, angry, grabbed her and pressed her onto the bed.

Ningwan looked at his cold, icy face, not backing down this time, and said firmly, "You sleep poorly, always tossing and turning, affecting my rest. Besides, long-term poor sleep leads to premature aging, even early death. You may not fear death, but Grandma is of this age, can you bear to let her witness another funeral for a young one? Grandma heard I knew a bit of medicine, so she asked me to find ways to regulate your sleep. Knowing you wouldn’t take medicine, only external aids like incense worked. Not only do you not appreciate it, you want to get rough with me, are you even a man?"

"You want to know if I’m a man?" Zhan Hanjue pressed his body even closer.

Early in the morning, a man’s blood inevitably boils.

Ningwan’s eyes widened, this guy actually... early in the morning...

But...

"What’s that smell? Could it be..."

Ningwan sniffed the unusual scent in the room, unable to resist probing it with her nose, quickly identifying what it was.

Zhan Hanjue, taken aback, immediately got up, his face flushing.

"Shut up, don’t say nonsense."

Ningwan laughed out loud at his blush spreading from ear roots to cheeks, "I guessed it right? Last night... could you have... been galloping? So, you suspect my incense contains aphrodisiac components?"

"No?"

"Of course not," Ningwan asserted, "If I added such stuff, wouldn’t I be harming myself?"

Zhan Hanjue furrowed his brows, indeed, it made sense.

But why last night?

"You didn’t have some strange dream last night, did you? That’s why it happened... In fact, it’s nothing, you’re an adult man, and such situations are normal, let me tell you, men’s physiological knowledge..."

"Shut up."

Ningwan seriously lectured Zhan Hanjue about physiology, but before she finished, she was scolded by him.

"If you don’t want to hear it, then fine," Ningwan pouted.

Zhan Hanjue got up to change clothes.

Ningwan couldn’t help but sneak some peeks, such a good physique. Clearly blind, never seen him exercise, yet how’s his body so good?

Sigh, what a waste not to make a specimen!

"Young Madam, someone is looking for you outside."

After breakfast, Ningwan was strolling in the garden when Housekeeper Wu suddenly came over to report.

Ningwan frowned, who was looking for her?

Ye Family, or Lin Family?

"Let them in then!" Ningwan said.

Idle anyway, someone coming over to break the boredom wasn’t bad.

"Ningning."

Suddenly, a familiar voice called out, followed by someone rushing over, tightly hugging her.

Ningwan: "..."

"Ningning, I finally found you." The girl hugged her for a while, then let go, her face round and cute like an apple, flushed with excitement.

"Wu Taotao?"

Ningwan was shocked, how did she come?

Wu Taotao looked her up and down, unable to resist complimenting, "Ningning, you’re really beautiful now, look at what you’re wearing, it looks quite expensive."

Indeed very expensive, all prepared by Zhan Family.

Though not knowing the price, by Zhan Family’s habit of using the most expensive and exquisite things, her clothes must be quite valuable.

"Saying that, as if I wasn’t pretty before." Ningwan laughed and teased her nose.

Wu Taotao playfully stuck out her tongue, then wrapped her arms around her again and said, "You’re certainly the prettiest, always been the prettiest."

"First, tell me why you’re here?" Ningwan pushed her away.

Wu Taotao was her friend from the countryside, they grew up together. This little girl was just six months younger, but playful and cute, and as the village head’s daughter, she was pampered.

"You said when you left it’d only be a few days, but we’ve waited for you so long, and you haven’t returned. Of course we’re worried, that’s why I came to find you." Wu Taotao said.

"Nonsense, the village head wouldn’t let you run off so easily." Ningwan debunked her lie.

Wu Taotao stuck out her tongue again, smiling sheepishly, "Ningning knows me best, actually, I have a task this time, here to study. I got into a university here, came to report, and incidentally visit you."

"What? You got into a university here? How’s that possible?" Ningwan frowned.

This girl didn’t even finish high school, how could she get into university?

"Art major, aren’t I good at drawing? My brother entered my paintings into some contest, some professor caught eye of them. Said I have artistic talent, so recommended me to study here." Wu Taotao said proudly.

"Did your brother come too?" Ningwan asked.

Wu Taotao nodded.

"Where is he? Why didn’t he come along?" Ningwan looked back but saw no Wu Wei.

"You promised us you wouldn’t marry that Lin guy. But we waited so long, never saw you return, my brother seized the chance to come with me to find you. At last finding out, you didn’t marry that Lin, but married into this Zhan Family. My brother heard it, was heartbroken, didn’t want to see you, so let me alone come find you. You know my brother always considered you as his wife." Wu Taotao said.

Ningwan felt awkward.

She certainly understood Wu Wei’s feelings, but she never promised him anything.

Why does she sound like a heartbreaker?

"Ningning, didn’t you say you wouldn’t get married, why did you marry this Zhan Hanjue?" Wu Taotao asked curiously.
