Chapter 291: The More You Buy, the Happier You Are
CHAPTER 291: CHAPTER 291: THE MORE YOU BUY, THE HAPPIER YOU ARE
Zhan Hanjue stood at the door, holding the necklace given by his grandmother, hesitating whether to knock.
At that moment, the maid happened to pass by and was surprised to see him wandering at the door: "Young Master, are you alright?"
Zhan Hanjue put on an expression of noble coldness, lightly coughed, and said, "It’s fine."
"Oh."
The maid nodded.
Usually, the Young Master hardly spoke, very serious, and they were all afraid of him.
So, she didn’t dare to say much, even avoided looking at him directly.
She hurriedly carried a bowl of bird’s nest porridge, knocked on the door, intending to bring it to the Young Madam.
"What are you carrying?" Zhan Hanjue asked.
With her head down, the maid replied, "Bird’s nest porridge. The old lady instructed that every day a bowl should be made for the Young Madam, to ensure she eats it."
Zhan Hanjue smiled.
His grandmother probably wanted a grandchild again, hence the health supplements.
"I’ll take it in, you can leave!" Zhan Hanjue said.
Just then, Ye Ningwan opened the door.
Zhan Hanjue hurriedly took the tray from the maid’s hands and smiled at her.
Ye Ningwan was about to close the door.
Unexpectedly, Zhan Hanjue was quicker, stretched out his long leg, wedging his foot in the door gap, preventing it from closing.
"If you don’t care about me, just go ahead and close it!" Zhan Hanjue played the martyr.
Ye Ningwan was speechless, angrily flung open the door and turned back inside.
Zhan Hanjue smiled, waved the maid away, and followed her inside.
"Grandmother has someone make this bird’s nest porridge for you, do you want to drink it?"
"No," Ye Ningwan refused coldly.
"But if you don’t drink it, Grandmother will be upset," Zhan Hanjue reminded.
Ye Ningwan turned to look at him: "Then let her be angry! Might as well kick me out, divorce me, and marry a compliant wife who drinks bird’s nest porridge. Who might even stupidly indulge in getting teased by you."
"I don’t like wives who drink bird’s nest porridge, I only like you. If you don’t drink, I’ll drink it for you. Whatever you don’t like doing, I’ll do it for you." Zhan Hanjue smiled, and drank the bowl of bird’s nest porridge in one go.
Ye Ningwan looked at him in shock.
She knew Zhan Hanjue also hated drinking bird’s nest porridge, but she didn’t expect him to chug it down.
"Aren’t you the one who hates drinking this the most? Why did you drink it?" Ye Ningwan said feeling sorry.
Zhan Hanjue replied, "I didn’t want to waste Grandmother’s good intentions nor upset her, and certainly didn’t want to make things difficult for you, so I drank it myself."
"Fool, if you don’t like it, you can pour it out. I have a pot of herbs that need high-nutrition and high-protein for nurturing. This bowl of bird’s nest porridge can provide the nutrition needed for it to thrive," Ye Ningwan said speechlessly.
"No wonder you don’t like drinking it nor refuse Grandmother’s kindness. So you’ve been giving it to the herbs!" Zhan Hanjue suddenly realized.
Ye Ningwan accidentally revealed her secret, utterly embarrassed.
Flustered, she said, "I was doing it for you, and now you’re exposing me, truly heartless. If you dare, go ahead and report to Grandmother. Tell her I’ve wasted her intentions and poured out what she wanted me to drink."
"How could I report, Wanwan, what kind of person do you think I am," Zhan Hanjue said feeling wronged.
Ye Ningwan sneered: "What kind of person? Someone still childish, who knows I’m worried about this but still jokes about it."
"I’m sorry, Wanwan. I’m sorry, I know I was wrong, I will never dare again. Consider this necklace as my apology, let me put it on for you."
As he apologized, Zhan Hanjue took out the necklace, ready to put it on Ye Ningwan.
Ye Ningwan refused: "I don’t want to wear it, I don’t like it."
"Then what do you like? I’ll take you to buy it," Zhan Hanjue immediately said.
Ye Ningwan didn’t really intend to stay mad at him forever, seeing his sincere apology, decided to give him an out.
"Alright, you’ll buy me whatever I want?"
Zhan Hanjue exclaimed excitedly: "Not just items, even if you want the whole mall, I’ll buy it for you."
"Okay, I’ll first go check out the mall, if I like it, I’ll buy it." Ye Ningwan playfully smiled.
The two headed straight for the newly opened mall in Jiangcheng.
The biggest feature of this mall is the luxury brands; their motto is serving the upper class. So, every brand settled in the mall is an international name, and affordable stores are virtually non-existent here.
Furthermore, they adopted a foreign mall model. You need a membership to enter, with a fee of over a hundred dollars, effectively excluding ordinary citizens even from just visiting.
However, it has made people with some assets proud to get membership and shop here.
Although they cut off a large portion of consumers, catering to a small consumer base is enough to keep the mall alive.
Zhan Hanjue didn’t have a membership card, so he called Chen Tan, and Chen Tan promptly sent over his member card.
The two entered with bodyguards, and indeed inside was lavishly decorated, quite different from regular malls.
Moreover, many stores indeed carried those international brands.
Zhan Hanjue, like a tycoon, waved his hand and generously told Ye Ningwan: "Buy whatever you want, don’t worry about saving money for me."
"Alright! I won’t be polite then." Ye Ningwan smiled, and entered a shop.
She spotted what she liked, pointed and asked the salesperson to pack.
Zhan Hanjue followed behind like an ATM, not saying a single superfluous word no matter what Ye Ningwan chose.
Instead, the more Ye Ningwan picked, the happier he seemed.
Quickly, they spent over a million.
Shoppers here weren’t short on money; typically, the salespeople would see quite a few wealthy individuals shopping.
Without blinking, they’d buy up two or three clothing items, spending tens of thousands.
But since opening, for the salesperson, this was the first encounter with such high-spending clients.
It was overwhelmingly joyous.
When Ye Ningwan got tired of shopping, they eagerly served her tea and water, their mouths full of praises.
"Let’s switch stores, we’ve already bought everything we liked here."
Ye Ningwan proudly marched out, under the enviable gazes of the salesperson, to another store to continue shopping.
However, just stepping into another store, they bumped into some people arguing.
Ye Ningwan stopped at the entrance.
She saw the store staff arrogantly scolding a few girls, and frowned, initially considering not to intervene.
However, as she recognized two of the girls, she hesitated, and stepped inside.
"What’s going on?"
"Cousin?"
Liu Yao looked at Ye Ningwan surprised and delighted.
Next to her, Ye Ya furrowed her brows, involuntarily stepped back a bit.
"Liu Yao, is this your cousin?" another girl asked excitedly.
Seeing Ye Ningwan dressed elegantly, so beautiful, her aura so mesmerizing.
The girls were being scolded by the staff, several raised their heads hopefully for someone to heroically rescue them. Even though it was a beauty, as long as someone rescued them, it’d be alright.
