CHAPTER 361: CHAPTER 361: LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT AGAIN

Zhan Hanjue got into the car and instructed the driver to take him home first.

The people that needed to be sent out had all been dispatched; now, he just had to wait for the results.

What he said to Ye Shao and Wu Taotao wasn’t a joke; he was serious.

Since he knew his own feelings, he decided to take action.

Even though he had forgotten about his past feelings for Ningwan, he could pursue her once again.

But unexpectedly, as soon as he got home, a servant reported to him that there was a guest at the house, currently in Old Mrs. Zhan’s courtyard.

"Who came?" Zhan Hanjue asked.

The servant replied, "I don’t know her, a very pretty lady, and she brought a child, claiming to be a relative of the old lady."

Zhan Hanjue felt a tremor in his heart and quickly walked towards Old Mrs. Zhan’s courtyard.

Ever since Feng Qianru moved into the Zhan Family, she had almost replaced all the family’s servants.

So, there were no old faces left, and naturally, they didn’t recognize Ningwan.

But upon hearing the servant’s report, Zhan Hanjue guessed that the visitor could possibly be Ningwan.

He had no reason—just a feeling that she was the one.

He also thought he should bring Housekeeper Wu back, or else the household could get chaotic.

Sure enough, as soon as he entered Old Mrs. Zhan’s courtyard, he heard her hearty laughter and Tuantuan’s sweet voice.

Zhan Hanjue couldn’t help but feel delighted and quickened his pace.

"Grandma."

After entering, Zhan Hanjue first greeted Old Mrs. Zhan with a smile, and his gaze immediately moved to Ningwan.

Ningwan, in a light blue long dress, sat elegantly beside Old Mrs. Zhan, her demeanor graceful and dignified. Her expression was cool, not even giving him a glance, yet her lips held a faint smile.

Old Mrs. Zhan was pleased to see Zhan Hanjue and waved happily.

"Hanjue, look who’s here, Ningwan is back. I haven’t seen her in a long time, and I really missed her."

"Grandma, you know her?" Zhan Hanjue asked softly as he walked over.

Old Mrs. Zhan put on an annoyed expression, "What do you mean ’do I know her’? She’s my most favored granddaughter-in-law. How could I not? Look at my dear great-grandchild, he’s simply adorable."

Old Mrs. Zhan reached out to pat Tuantuan’s little head.

Tuantuan cleverly leaned his head over to make it easier for her to pat.

With his cleverness, Old Mrs. Zhan became even happier, gazing at him with doting affection.

Zhan Hanjue secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

He had been worried that Grandma might be upset about Mumu and Xiaxia’s absence. However, seeing her divert all her attention to Tuantuan and not being saddened by Mumu and Xiaxia’s departure finally put him at ease.

"Grandma, enjoy your chat with Tuantuan. Ningwan and I have something to discuss," Zhan Hanjue said.

Old Mrs. Zhan nodded.

Ningwan immediately said, "Sorry, I have things to do and might not have time to talk. Tuantuan, we should go."

Zhan Hanjue signaled to Tuantuan with his eyes.

Tuantuan immediately acted coquettishly towards Old Mrs. Zhan, "Great-Grandma, I want to eat ’Donkey Rolling.’

"Alright, alright, I have some here. Mrs. Chen, quickly get some ’Donkey Rolling’ for our little Tuantuan, get plenty."

Mrs. Chen nodded with a smile and went to fetch the ’Donkey Rolling.’

Ningwan looked at her son speechless.

What was this little thing up to?

"He might be eating for a while, seems like you’ve got time now!" Zhan Hanjue asked with a playful smile.

Ningwan rolled her eyes.

Don’t think she didn’t notice earlier; it was his cue that made Tuantuan suddenly crave ’Donkey Rolling.’

"Ningwan, why aren’t you answering Hanjue? He’s speaking to you," Old Mrs. Zhan reminded.

Ningwan grinned awkwardly, "Grandma, I heard him, I’m just about to agree. You enjoy your time with Tuantuan while we step outside to talk."

Old Mrs. Zhan nodded, contentedly watching them, murmuring, "So good, so good."

Ningwan grinned again, awkwardly, and followed Zhan Hanjue outside.

The two went to the garden outside, and Ningwan immediately changed her expression, asking coldly, "I don’t know what Mr. Zhan wants to talk about. I think there’s nothing between us worth discussing."

"Ye Ningwan, I like you," Zhan Hanjue confessed sincerely.

Ningwan was left dumbfounded, staring at him in shock.

"Ye Ningwan, I’m serious," Zhan Hanjue said again, reaching out to hold Ningwan’s hand as he confessed.

Ningwan finally snapped out of it, immediately shaking off Zhan Hanjue’s hand, "What nonsense are you talking? You’ve remembered everything?"

"No, I haven’t remembered anything about our past," Zhan Hanjue admitted truthfully.

"Then why are you saying you like me?" Ningwan frowned.

If he had regained his memory, she would be more inclined to believe that he liked her.

But now, without his memory and confessing to her, she simply couldn’t accept it.

"Even though I haven’t regained my memory... do you believe in love at first sight?" Zhan Hanjue asked.

"Love at first sight?"

"Yes, I fell in love with you at first sight four years ago and haven’t forgotten you since. Do you know, after you left four years ago, I realized who I truly liked. In these four years, I’ve kept a strict distance from Feng Qianru. So, even without the memories of once liking you, seeing you again made me fall for you all over again."

"Zhan Hanjue..."

Ningwan stared blankly at Zhan Hanjue, their eyes meeting, and she couldn’t help but become engrossed in his gentle gaze.

Zhan Hanjue reached out to embrace her waist, about to draw her into his arms.

But in the next second, Ningwan’s phone rang, breaking the moment of intimacy.

Ningwan came back to her senses, immediately pushing Zhan Hanjue away and answering her phone.

The call was from Feng Jiuzun.

"Why aren’t you out yet? Don’t forget about the afternoon flight."

"I know, just wait a little longer, Tuantuan is still saying goodbye to Old Mrs. Zhan," Ningwan said.

After ending the call, she looked at Zhan Hanjue and said, "I lost my composure just now, but I don’t believe a word you’ve said. Back then, we had such deep feelings, yet you could just forget. Now, you talk about love at first sight as if I’m supposed to fall back into the trap? I’m not that foolish."

"Everything I said is true. I know you don’t believe me, but I’ll prove it to you. But you’re leaving? No, Tuantuan has just found his father, how can you bear to make him lose his mom right after?"

"Who said I’m taking him away? That little guy has been so ungrateful, I’ve been raising him for four years, and still, he’s not loyal to me. Since he’s so eager to find you, then he should stay with you! But I’m leaving."

Ningwan shrugged, speaking with remarkable nonchalance.

Zhan Hanjue was dumbfounded.

He thought he could use his son to keep her here, but he hadn’t expected that she wouldn’t even want her son.

"Tuantuan just found me, and now you want him to lose his mommy just after finding his daddy?"

Zhan Hanjue held Ningwan’s hand, his gaze filled with pleading.

Ningwan shook off Zhan Hanjue’s hand, "It’s his own choice, the kid is smart, unlike other children. Plus, I believe your grandma is very fond of Little Tuantuan. With the other two children just gone, if I take Tuantuan away too, she probably couldn’t handle that blow. So, it’s better for Tuantuan to stay here with her. Zhan Hanjue, I’m thinking about what’s best for you, don’t be ungrateful."

Zhan Hanjue slowly released his grip.

Ningwan was right, she was doing what was best for him, and yet he still wasn’t satisfied.

Because what he wanted wasn’t just for Tuantuan to stay, but for her to stay too.
