CHAPTER 171: TAKE ME TO YOUR MASTER.

The group returned to the town and met up with Union officers and leading figures of the towns who were waiting for them. Selena told them what they had found, the creature was a wounded contracted beast and its master was trapped somewhere else and needed to be saved.

Plus, the creature was injured and was just resting. As for why it usually came near the town at night, they didn’t know but they assured the townspeople that they did not have to worry about being attacked by the dog.

Since the situation seemed rather urgent, Selena gathered everyone to return to Balon City so that they could report their findings back to the Union branch.

They didn’t know what sort of danger the Master of the dog was in but judging from the injured state of the dog, the owner shouldn’t be in a better position.

The engine of the armoured vehicle roared to life before heading out of the town as they returned to Balon City.

A few hours later, the armoured vehicle returned to Balon City. Selena asked Phil to first bring Alex to the outskirts before they went to the Union building to report on their mission.

His share from the mission’s payment would be transferred to him later.

It was already evening by the time they returned to Balon City, over 8 hours on the road had exhausted most of the day.

Getting home, Alex saw that everyone was already present; including his father.

He shot a glare at Alicia for no reason before; he just liked how she reacted whenever he looked at her. Scaring her was slowly becoming a hobby to him.

"You’re back, how was the mission?" His mother asked upon sighting him.

Alex replied that it was fine, he told her that they didn’t fight any magic beast and had only gone for an investigation; they had only taken so long because of the distance that they had travelled.

His mother let out a breath of relief after hearing that there weren’t any magic beasts involved this time, she cared about her son’s safety too much.

Alex greeted his father and asked how the plan for the shop was going.

He learned from his father that the worker at the Union branch was giving him a hard time, and he didn’t manage to get the licence despite spending most of the day waiting.

As for the shop, his old friends had completed the renovation and all that was left was for Zoran to buy supplies.

Alex was confused as to why Zoran was being given a hard time at the Union, could it be that there were too many people to attend to?

Zoran sighed and explained to him that many workers in the Union branch prioritised mage customers, ordinary people weren’t taken seriously unless they had some connections with members of the Union.

Alex nodded in understanding. There were similar cases like this in his old world, where only those with connections and high status were treated kindly.

Those without any of these were disregarded and stressed on purpose.

Alex had a plan in mind on how to handle this. He asked if Zoran knew the name of the person who was attending to him.

Zoran stared at him weirdly, wondering why Alex wanted the name of the person.

"Since I’m a mage, maybe I could talk to them for you. They might listen since I’m an explorer too, I can even bring Aunt Mia with me; they seem to respect her a lot."

Alex said with an awkward laugh.

Zoran felt that what he said made sense. But he didn’t know the name of the person and proceeded to describe them instead.

It was a chubby-looking woman with neck-length brown hair; she wore thick makeup and had a haughty expression on her face most of the time.

"Got it!" Alex nodded.

Evening went peacefully at home and after a few hours, everyone went to their rooms to rest for the night. But Alex had other plans in mind.

He waited for some time and made sure everyone had already slept before equipping his mask and robe, after which he used Void Walk to leave his room and appeared outside Balon City the next moment.

Alex disappeared into a flicker of silver light as he began to use Blink and Void Walk simultaneously, and the direction he was rushing toward was where the small town was located.

Alex arrived in the sky above the town a few minutes later. He glanced at the town from above as he slowly drifted down. Although the people in the town were few, nightlife was more active than nightlife in the outskirts of Balon City; he could see lots of people outside, and many shops were still open.

Alex retracted his gaze after some time and used Blink again, he appeared inside the forest this time, right in front of the huge dog that was on its way to the edge of the town again.

The dog was frightened when Alex suddenly appeared in front of it, and the hairs on its body stood straight as it jumped back and took an aggressive stance.

It growled at Alex but was slowly moving back, it was afraid!

"Don’t be afraid, it’s..." Alex paused before he could complete his words. He was about to show his face to the dog so it could recognise him, but considering what he had learned from Alicia, he decided not to show his face.

The dog could already understand humans, who knew if it could talk to its master.

"I’m here to help your master." He said instead.

The dog didn’t act after hearing Alex’s words and continued to growl at him fearful as if warning him not to get close.

Alex blinked before letting out a sigh. The next moment, his body exploded with the aura of a Saint rank mage as he released his full strength.

Boom!

A powerful aura exploded from his body. Alex tried to contain it to avoid alerting the town, but their present environment wasn’t so lucky, as every single tree within a 200-meter radius was blown away by the powerful Shockwave from Alex’s soul sea.

The dog was also blown away but Alex caught it with telekinesis and slowly dropped it to the ground. Its huge body trembled like a leaf in the wind as it stared at Alex, and low whimpers escaped its mouth.

If Alex didn’t catch it, the dog would have sustained more damage to the injuries it already had and that wasn’t his intention since he needed it to lead him to where they had fought with members of the Dark Union.

"Now, lead me to your master." Alex walked in front of the dog and ordered.

This time, the dog didn’t dare to resist. It turned in the direction that it had looked in earlier in the day when asked where its master was and dashed forward.

Its speed was impressive.

Alex used Blink and appeared on the dog’s back. The dog panicked but Alex ordered it to keep going, and so it did.

After some time, Alex remembered the yellow egg that the dog was protecting and asked about it, the dog raised its head while running and slightly opened its mouth.

The egg was in its mouth.
