CHAPTER 168: CHAPTER 163 YOU’RE SO DOMINEERING, SUCH A FUSS (PART 1)
Tong Airui laughed and said, "You wouldn’t know, Old Seven’s the kind of person who was born not knowing how to argue. Very few people can provoke him into opposing them."
"I overheard a couple of lines, seemed to be about some patient’s treatment plan. Their ideas didn’t align, but I didn’t really understand, so I stopped listening." Yi Luowa puckered her lips at Tong Airui. "Old Seven didn’t like to argue when he was young. What about you? Were you always fighting with people as a kid?"
"I disliked fighting even more." Tong Airui smiled and shook his head.
"I don’t believe that! You’re so domineering, such a troublemaker. No way you didn’t get into fights with people." Yi Luowa teased with a playful smirk.
Tong Airui pulled her to sit down and said with a grin, "My dad used to say the highest level of putting someone in their place is not even needing to lay a hand on them—just making their liver tremble at the mere thought of you."
Yi Luowa leaned on his shoulder, smiled but said nothing.
Tong Airui lowered his gaze to kiss her forehead. "Those tricks are for outsiders. When it comes to family, especially you, all I’ve got for you is spoiling."
Yi Luowa looked up at him briefly, then smiled and said, "I know you treat me well."
As they were chatting, Yi Luowa’s phone rang.
She glanced at the screen. Seeing it was Huo Li, she quickly pressed the answer button.
"How’s the fun going?"
Huo Li pouted and said, "I’m so tired I feel like I’m about to pass out!"
"Pfft~ Since when did you become so weak?"
"It’s not that I’m weak, it’s that Just is such a jerk. He’s been playing all day and not waiting for me. I ran after him so much my legs are about to fall off."
"See, now you know who really cares about you, right? I’m telling you, men cannot be trusted!" Yi Luowa had barely finished speaking when she noticed Tong Airui giving her a cold, pointed look. Hurriedly, she mouthed the words, "Except you!"
Tong Airui chuckled and pinched her nose.
Yi Luowa puckered her lips, leaned back onto his shoulder, and said to Huo Li, "If you’re tired, come back early."
"I’m on my way back now. I’m heading back alone. Just said he has something to deal with and will come back later."
"Think about what you want to eat on your way back. I’ll take you out tonight."
Huo Li rolled her eyes, "You actually have time to accompany me tonight?"
"Of course."
"Hmph! Last night, you ran off to Tong Airui’s hospital room halfway through sleeping. With how you prioritize romance over friendship, what makes you think I’d believe you?"
Yi Luowa scrunched her nose. "Oh, stop it. I didn’t ditch you for romance. You kicked me onto the floor, and I had nowhere else to sleep, so I left!"
"You always have an excuse!"
"I can vouch for that," Tong Airui leaned in, resting his chin on Yi Luowa’s shoulder as he chimed in. "You kicked my wife’s waist so hard it bruised!"
"I kicked her waist? How do you know? Did you see it?" Huo Li sneered. "Fine, since you’re decent to Piggy, I won’t say much. But let me tell you, if you ever treat her badly, watch how I’ll deal with you!"
Yi Luowa tilted her head to look at Tong Airui and said with a grin, "The pig says you should treat me better."
Tong Airui chuckled, "Tell the pig that if I don’t pamper my wife, who will?"
"You two freaks!" Huo Li angrily hung up the phone.
Yi Luowa stared at the phone and burst into laughter. "Fourth Brother, where did you arrange for them to go that she ended up this exhausted?"
"I don’t know! They planned the route themselves." Tong Airui looked innocent; of course, he wouldn’t admit he was behind it. Still, Just running off halfway—where the heck had he gone? This guy, he couldn’t quite figure him out, and it made him uneasy.
Yi Luowa blinked. If she truly believed him, she’d be an absolute fool.
Mai Zekai stormed into the room, puffing with frustration. Seeing the two of them cozying up on the bed, he pulled over a chair, sat down across from them, and silently glared at their display of affection.
Tong Airui shot him a glare, lay back on the bed, and started typing out a text message on his phone.
Yi Luowa looked at Mai Zekai with amusement. "Feeling triggered?"
Mai Zekai nodded slowly. "Yeah, you two absolutely triggered me."
"Don’t take the hits you suffered elsewhere out on us." Tong Airui abandoned his phone and rested his head on Yi Luowa’s lap, shooting an irritated look at Mai Zekai.
Mai Zekai gave him a side-eye. "Fourth Brother, I want to start my own hospital. Working for others is too aggravating. Anyone and everyone thinks they can boss me around."
"So, is Shanshan a cat or a dog?" Tong Airui teased.
"She’s neither—she’s not even human!" Mai Zekai huffed.
Yi Luowa bit back a smile, raising her hand to gently run her fingers through Tong Airui’s thick hair. She suddenly found herself enjoying the sensation of her fingertips gliding through his strands.
Mai Zekai stared at Tong Airui like he was some sort of alien. He opened his mouth but couldn’t form any words.
Tong Airui chuckled and said, "Your idea’s not bad, but opening a hospital in the capital definitely won’t work. There’s the Jimo family’s hospital here, and no matter how great your reputation is, you won’t be able to compete with them. How about this—you could go to Xiawu or another city. I can help you."
"If it weren’t for my parents, I’d definitely leave." Mai Zekai pointed to his head. "With Fourth Sister-in-law rubbing your head like that, don’t you feel like a golden retriever?"
Yi Luowa pulled her hand away and looked down at Tong Airui. "You don’t like people touching your head?"
"Mm, I don’t like it when others touch my head, but you’re not ’others.’ You’re an exception." Tong Airui smiled and took her hand, placing it back on his head. "No wonder the golden retrievers at home enjoy getting pet so much; it does feel good."
Mai Zekai gave him a look of utter disdain.
